Available for auction is this rare Höhm EH-57 full-frame motorized scale model, originally built in Germany in the 1960s and sold by Werner Degener as a driving school instructional tool. Developed in response to evolving European driving curricula, these models trace their roots back to the 1930s when Opel dealer Emil Höhm collaborated with Degener to create educational automotive models.
This example features a pale-blue and white painted metal chassis with drilled channel beams and a central X-brace, along with a burgundy front fascia incorporating a grille with a Höhm shield. The model is powered by a 4 cylinder engine with a hand-crank-operated rotating assembly, including a visible crankshaft, pistons, and camshaft.
A cutaway three-speed manual gearbox with a working clutch and shifter allows power transfer to the rear wheels via a driveshaft, cutaway differential, and half shafts. Additional details include a functional worm-and-sector steering box, drum brakes visible through cutaways in the burgundy-painted wheels, and mechanically actuated brakes operated via a pedal and ratcheting handbrake.
Suspension is provided by leaf springs and solid axles at both ends, while the accelerator pedal controls a linkage to a simulated carburetor. The model is mounted on a metal platform housing switchgear for the lighting and drive motor, with a pair of covered fuse panels containing ceramic-type fuses.
It operates on 220V AC power with a six-volt motor and includes a 110V-to-240V step-up transformer and spare wiring. Functional lights are integrated into the rear tail panel, complementing the front and rear bumpers with “EH-57” license plates.
The seller states that this highly detailed instructional model remains fully functional and in excellent overall condition for its age. The buyer is responsible for shipping, shipping insurance, handling, and transactional fees. PCARMARKET is not responsible for anything lost or damaged during shipping.
