Up for auction is this 2005 Porsche Boxster S. The Boxster was introduced in 1997 as Porsche's premiere mid-engine roadster and has been known for its ideal drivability and sporty nature ever since. Having a special ordered interior, 6-speed manual transmission, and extensive documentation, this example stands out among others. Spending its entire life in California, this car is being offered in excellent condition and currently shows 58k miles on the odometer.
The classic GT Silver Metallic paint is stated to be all original aside from a professional respray of the front right fender due to cosmetic damage. All panels are original to the car and the paint is stated to be in excellent condition. Only a few road chips exists around the car including a scuff on the rear bumper as seen in the gallery photos. The rare Cocoa Brown soft top stands in great condition and is fully functioning. Currently installed are a set of 17" OEM wheels that wear a new set of Kumho tires.
Inside, you will notice a rarely seen and special ordered Cocoa Brown full leather interior that is paired with a handful of factory options such as heated front seats, sport steering wheel, automatic climate control, and Bose stereo system. The seller upgraded the head unit to a Pioneer model that is capable both XM radio and Apple CarPlay connectivity ($2k cost). The original radio will be included with the sale. Overall, the interior is said to be in excellent condition with minimal wear.
This Boxster S retains its original mid-mounted 3.2L flat-six engine that produces a healthy 280HP. A smooth 6-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels. The seller states that this car has been regularly maintained throughout his ownership and is currently up to date on all service. The engine is said to be in excellent running condition.
The sale will also include a clean Carfax, service records, all books, keys, and an indoor and out door car cover.

@ckbeiswenger the 2005 does not have an easily replaceable IMS bearing. It requires machining the case. Failure rate on this version is much lower.
@Canuck127 This Boxster has the M97 engine. An IMS bearing replacement is not as simple as in the M96. When I owned a 2005 Boxster several years ago I was told replacement of the bearing required tearing down the engine. Cost was around $10k vs $2500 to replace a bearing on the M96.
I was told that bearing failure on the M97 is rare but I ended up selling the car anyway. Miss that Boxster. Would love to get another.
I just can't figure out if you had the ability to inspect the IMS bearing why you didn't just go ahead and replace it??? The expensive part is getting to it!!!

@PorscheCTffld No leaks. Clutch was replaced within last 15,000 miles. I have receipt.
I felt 2nd gear slipping occasionally so gearbox was removed, second gear replaced. While gearbox was out, we replaced clutch and visually inspected IMS.
@Airliner1 no. A visual inspection was done and since this is one of the few where actual machines Ning of the case would be required, the IMS was left alone. Visual inspection showed n need to service or replace IMS at that time.
