Up for auction is a 1-owner 1997 Porsche 911 Targa. The 993 Targa was a staple in Porsche history due to its unique design and innovative technology. Featuring a handful of model specific options, the 993 Targa is one of the more stand out models produced by Porsche. This example was sold new in California and has remained there with its one and only owner since. Showing 81,358 miles, this car has been garage kept, well maintained, and well cared for throughout its life.
The rarely seen Ocean Blue Metallic paint is said to be original aside from a professional respray of the rear bumper. The paint is stated to be in above average condition for its age and mileage with only a few minor dings and dents present. The photo gallery will show the true condition of this vehicle's exterior.
Many design elements of the Targa separate it from other 993 trims such as a factory rear spoiler, fully retractable panoramic targa roof, and 17” 5-spoke Targa wheels.
Inside, you will find one of the most rare interiors of any Porsche 993. The full black leather is complemented by custom ordered grey supple leather seating and custom wood finish on the gear lever and emergency brake. Additional factory options include: HiFi sound package with 8 speakers, AM/FM Radio Cassette Player, and 6-CD remote changer. The interior is said to be in well above average condition with all electronics working as they should.
Power comes from a numbers matching 3.6L flat-six engine that produces 272HP and is connected to a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller states that consistent maintenance has been performed on this Targa since new, leaving it in perfect running condition. A few recent service items were addressed including a new clutch, brake service, new engine gaskets, and a recent clean out of SAI.
The sale will include a clean Carfax, all service records, all books, and 2 keys.

A thought for those of you who are wondering about the mileage. This car has been driven properly, pushed but not trashed, and serviced regularly. Porches of this generation usually require a top end cleanup for decarbonization, which is usually indicated with the CLI light on the dash board usually around 60,000 miles. Mine came on about 76000 miles - and soon after I had the top end cleanup done and along with that, a new clutch, all new seals, hoses, spark plugs/wires etc done at a cost of more than $10K. So the car should be good for at least 40K miles or more. Would you rather buy a car at 60K miles which will soon require a $10K cleanup or this?
A/C works well, as good as new. It was recharged a couple of years ago.

A/C in good working order?
Just to clarify, my first Porsche was a 924 LUX which I had purchased in Germany. I moved to the US and custom ordered the Targa.
The grey seats are original from Porsche. The car was built to my custom order, I wanted all black interior (European style, my first Porsche was purchased in Germany when I used live in Munich) except for the grey seats - it sort of feels you are floating in the air, especially with the glass top!. There was no order code, the sticker says "Leather seats dev std color". I will upload the original sticker which I received upon delivery.
Do you have the option and interior color codes? On inner hood or in service book (is that available?). Were the grey seats original from Porsche?
