Available for auction is a 1972 Schwinn Sting-Ray. Fully Restored and Collector-Ready, this iconic piece of American cycling history was beautifully brought back to life by Skunk River Cycles in Ames, Iowa as stated by the seller.
Restored using mostly NOS (new old stock) parts, this Sting-Ray features a rare vintage Schwinn speedometer with its original sales tag, a period-correct 1972 seat with matching under-seat reflector, and original-style Schwinn Gripper Slik rear and matching front tires both holding air.
Finished in Schwinn’s correct 1972 Flamboyant Red with polished chrome fenders, the bike proudly displays its serial number on the head tube, consistent with early ’70s Schwinn production.
Though fully ride-ready, it has been used only for display since restoration, making it a pristine showpiece for collectors or enthusiasts alike as stated by the seller. Combining authentic restoration, rare details, and nostalgic appeal, this Sting-Ray would make a standout addition to any serious collection or a truly memorable gift.
