This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This is a fully sorted, reliable, and fast car for whatever you wish to throw it at. It’s turn-key and ready to please its next owner. The car has multiple prior owners; it's never been tracked to my knowledge. The prior owner experienced the dreaded IMS issue, and the car was later sold to Chavis Performance Engineering in Maryland. I purchased the car and had CPE perform the swap at a cost of 38k for the swap plus the car’s cost.
All items function in the car, minus the cruise control, which is electronically disabled. AC, Heat, ABS, radio, AWD, and so on work as normal. It uses the OEM mufflers with two additional resonators for a docile-sounding exhaust. You can hear the LS chop, but it's not radical or aggressive; it has a subtle but nice lope to it. I spent a lot of time dialing in the suspension.
The exterior is original paint to my knowledge, and the car does show signs of paint wear. There’s road rash on the quarters, there’s some paint fading on the roof between the windshield and the sunroof. It's got an assortment or scratches and minor dents that come from 135,000 miles of driving.
Interior-wise, the car is comfortable with its heated seats. The driver and passenger door panels show some signs of separation at the top corners near the edge of the doors. A common trait for these cars I've seen. The TPMS sensors do need replacing with new OEM items, and that does show on the dash. Minus that, there are no issues with the car in terms of drivability or functionality. It's a one-of-a-kind driving experience, making 420/420 on the dyno before being fine-tuned locally. It's got gobs of tq at any rpm in most any gear, 80mph in 6th gear is around 3000rpm. The shorter gearing of the 997 is exploited nicely by the abundant torque of the LS motor.
Common misconceptions or questions:
1. It’s narrower and shorter in height than the OEM flat six it replaced. There’s no negative change to its center of gravity
2. It's lighter by about 45lbs fully dressed vs the fully dressed flat six. So, its a net weight savings
3. It sits 1" closer to the driver, so it's better balanced, in addition to being lighter and having a better center of gravity.
4. The OEM 6spd trans and AWD are retained, they work as normal and the trans is plenty strong to handle the power. The trans adapter in the CPE kit, along with their clutch from Spec, makes this a seamless install. The pedal pressure is light and very manageable
5. The CPE kit uses its own plug & play wiring harness with a CAN box to communicate with the car. It uses a GM E38 ECU that’s perfect for this combo, keeping the costs in line and not requiring a standalone ECU. The CPE box translates the info between the GM ECU and the Porsche body modules, so the gauges work as normal. Temps, mph, tach, etc, all work as normal.
6.This swap, as the car sits, costs around $40k using a new GM Performance LS3 crate motor with a 2-year warranty. For the swap alone.
If I didn't tell someone this car was swapped, many would have assumed it's a built motor and exhaust. Anyone who's driven this car has walked away amazed and impressed. It's a total package. High praise from people who have seen and driven a lot of cars.”

@KeyserSoze The seat is an unusual question. It the stock seat and rails without modification. The entire GM Hot Cam performance crate motors warranty work with all specs is already in the listings attachments. Approx 7k miles on the motor. With approximately 1yr of warranty left
Do you have the cam specs? Engine mileage? Is the full travel of the drivers seat available?

Dave at ButziGear and his team setup the suspension. The link below is a in car video he did with his meta glasses. This was his first time driving the car, his reaction is priceless and honest. The "Cup" he's referring to is his 996 Cup Car and how this car handles, accelerates and feels in comparison. I think it's pretty solid feedback from a died in wool Porsche guy who loves his air-cooled cars and builds some cool cars. Note theres some profanity is his reaction lol. Also worth noting the cars redline is 7200rpm, he's not full throttle or hitting redline just having some fun and making sure it's dialed in.

A Porvette with AWD! Nice job and description. Big American torque without Turbos. I'd consider it a DD with the scratches and small flaws. Yeah, I'd take it to Piggly Wiggly for milk and eggs. Every day! GLTA

Wow. It sounds great from the inside and seems very drivable. It's so awesome...in every way, shape, and form.
The Sport Classic ducktail and .2 LED lights....somebody said F-it, I'm dropping cash in this car to make everything perfectly bad-ass. And those wheels....
@TubeGuy Video is posted now
@Quick100m The short answer is no, NJ does not have that process. I am assuming your question is in reference to some states like California or NY that may require a change in their DMV system for a motor swap. If I am incorrect in my interpretation then please let me know. Buyers should check their local motor vehicle laws surrounding swaps most will not have that requirement/process.
Was this car retitled after the motor swap?
@TwinPop14 appreciate the compliment its a very fun car. Augment Wheels in Canada does great work and the quality is excellent. I just got a new set for 992 yesterday from them. Great owner hes always on top of these builds.
Man that thing sounds so good. Great job on the build. Love the wheel and tire set up too.
@nexusautobrokers thanks for the compliment its a great car. I remember you guys, almost bought a R35 GTR from you some years ago. Always cool inventory
she is so pretty!

Thanks everyone for the comments, questions and messages so far. I did provide PCar with some additional videos that they should be posting soon of in car driving experiences using meta glasses. One from me and another from Dave at ButziGear whose enthusiasm is pretty obvious after driving his first LS swapped 911. There's some profanity in there. So if it cant be posted I may provide a link to view on IG. I have been asked about in person showings of the car, it's something I will consider for active bidders towards the weekend.
@lucas_r302 Its one hell of a driving experience and a unique one thats all its own. I've owned 170 cars to date and this is in my top 5.
Vouch for the car, seen it this past weekend at grass roots event and it’s absolutely gorgeous in person.
As a owner or another CPE 997 I have to say short+\- 6 figures there’s nothing like it, completely different experience and completely unique. Everywhere it goes it gets all the attention, ever have any issues just walk in to your regular parts store and get parts. It’s the best of both worlds.
good luck to you guys, it’s a hell of a car.
Thanks @GruppeG - sent you a PM about seeing the car locally. Thanks!

It would be so great to have a driving video from inside the car to show what it's really like. I have to say it looks bad-ass. The way that it sits is AMAZING but it must ride pretty stiff. But nobody is buying this to get groveries at the Piggly Wiggly!!
Still, I would love to get a sense of the driver's perspective.

@HK_Motorcars Thanks so much for the kind words. Driving the Fifteen11 914 was so much fun.
@Flsupraguy Its done via programming by Chavis Performance Engineering. Its effectively a software update.
What is needed to make the cruise control functional? "The seller notes the cruise control function has been disabled but can be restored"
I drove this car earlier this summer while swapping keys with the owner. It is such a mind bend because the constant LS roar tells your brain "muscle car" while the touch points, steering, and driving setup still yell "Porsche". Best of both worlds without a doubt, and laughably fun to drive. Probably a bit extreme of a solution for dodging the IMS bearing questions though... Kidding.
Next owner should bid with confidence, this one was done right with no corners cut.
@Mspohn Ohlins R&T coilovers and New OEM front control arms (installed by AutoCouture Motoring)
Tarrett: Rear Toe Control Arm kit - adjustable, Sway bar links F&R, tie rods, front control arm spacers and upper mounts (Installed by ButziGear) Butzi also did a full setup, all damper settings, alignment and ride height finalized by them. All parts installed spring/summer 2025
@GruppeG - details on the suspension setup?
@Djsee23 As you noted its the cold start and its cammed. So yes it does hunt for the first few moments and then settles nicely
In the cold start video, is that lumpiness because of the cam? it did sound like the idle was hunting and dipping.
@bavarian3 Need? No, she needs nothing. Shes sorted drives well and will he a seriously fun car for its next caretaker. On a want to do level, I never upgraded the audio
Given your experience with these swaps, is there anything you think the car would need?
Thanks for the quick reply!
@bavarian3 brakes were done fall 2024 at the time of the swap. Along with all fluids. I do not have the rear seats and ButziGear did the CV boots earlier this year. I do not have pics of the boots. Its my 2nd LS swapped 997. I change cars quite a bit, its my 2nd 997 via Chavis.
- Can you share when last the brakes have been changed (rotors, pads, fluid change?)
- Have the CV boots been replaced? Is it possible to get photos of them?
- Have the transmission or diff fluid been replaced?
- Do you have the rear seat bottoms/backs by any chance?
- Reason for selling under short ownership?
@Flsupraguy Yes thats correct drive by wire using a GM pedal integrated into the car.
Beautiful build. Is this drive by wire?
Welcome to the auction for my 2006, Porsche 911 C4 LS3 swap. I tried to answer a lot of the upfront questions I always get about these swaps in the writeup. Covering items like the weight reduction, functionality and costs associated to doing a swap etc. I'll try my best to answer any questions related to the car and swap. Thanks again!
