The E39-generation BMW M5 debuted as the fastest four-door production sedan of its time and features a naturally aspirated S62 V8 engine sending power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. This 2001 example is finished in Silverstone over matching leather upholstery and has reportedly been stored indoors since the original owner’s care. Acquired by the seller from a private collection out of Seattle, Washington, this M5 is now being offered for auction out of Florida with less than 45k miles showing on the odometer.
The M5 can be distinguished from a standard E39 5-Series by its model-specific bumpers, aerodynamic mirrors, gloss black Shadowline trim, trunk lid spoiler, and quad exhaust outlets. This example is finished in Silverstone and rides on factory 18” Style 65 wheels wrapped in newer Michelin tires. Equipment includes bi-xenon headlights, a headlamp washer system, rain-sensing wipers, integrated fog lights, and a power-operated glass sunroof. The seller notes minor imperfections attributed to road use, along with curb rash on the left front wheel. Additionally, a multi-stage paint correction and full detailing were performed on September 18, 2025. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the driver is greeted with Silverstone leather upholstery, an Anthracite headliner, and silver trim accents. Accessories include heated 10-way power sport seats with memory and lumbar support, an electrically-adjustable steering column, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, remote keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a multifunction M Sport steering wheel, M5-branded door sills, M-specific instrument dials, an M Sport shift knob, a premium sound system, and a BMW navigation system. The cabin is described as being in excellent condition apart from a small stain on the right rear seat bottom.
Factory-rated at 394 HP and 369 lb-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated 4.9-liter S62 V8 engine features double-VANOS variable valve timing and individual throttle bodies. It drives the rear wheels through a 6-speed Getrag manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Performance features include M Driving Dynamics Control, M Servotronic power steering, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), and an M-tuned sport suspension. On September 10, 2025, all fluids were replaced, the brake master cylinder was replaced, and the right rear wheel was replaced due to cosmetic imperfections. The CARFAX report shows a total of 20 service history entries.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, an outdoor-rated Cover Craft car cover, a toolkit, and a battery charger.
The seller would like you to know: “Very nice original example with newer Michelin tires. Always stored indoors. Engine runs well and the vehicle drives like an E39 M5 should.”
