Created by Akira Nakai of Rauh-Welt Begriff (RWB) in 2017, this 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera 4 Coupe is the first RWB built in North Carolina and is designated as RWB USA #63. Nicknamed “Maverick,” this 964 was built with inspiration from Nakai-San’s personal car “Stella,” featuring Sepang Bronze Metallic paint with an RWB 964 Royal Wide Street Version widebody kit, RWB Champion wing, custom headlights, an adjustable Airlift air suspension, and custom RWB Work Meister S1 wheels. The cabin features Recaro bucket seats, Rennline accessories, Cargraphic carbon fiber trim, a rear seat delete, a painted roll cage, and a full custom sound system. The engine has also been refreshed and upgraded with Fabspeed headers, a custom stainless-steel exhaust, a reprogrammed ECU, and an updated mass airflow sensor. This one-of-a-kind RWB widebody 964 is now being offered for auction by its owner out of North Carolina. Click here to view the previous PCARMARKET listing.

In 2017, this 964 was professionally refinished in the BMW Individual color of Sepang Bronze Metallic (A32). The RWB Royal Wide Street Version widebody kit was hand-fitted by Akira Nakai and includes wide bolt-on fender flares, bumpers, and optional Hakama side skirts. The build also features an RWB Champion rear wing, front canards, custom LED projector headlamps with RWB-engraved lenses, full LED exterior lighting, a 993 roof spoiler with an integrated brake light, paint-matched OEM brake calipers, and 19” RWB Work Meister S1 3P wheels with custom engraved lips. The car rides on new Nitto G2 and NT555 tires measuring 265/35R18 in front and 335/35R18 out back. The seller adds that special front bumper repair/alteration was approved by Nakai-San, and extensive documentation for paintwork is available. Some chips and imperfections are present from normal driving conditions, a skid protector has been added to the lower front bumper, and clear paint protection film is applied on the rear fender flares. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing minor damage in 2017.

The black leather interior has been fitted with a pair of Recaro Speed bucket seats on Planted seat brackets and sliders with Takata 4-point racing harnesses. Other modifications include a rear seat delete, a custom-painted half roll cage, Cargraphic carbon fiber trim pieces, a three-spoke MOMO Prototipo steering wheel with a paint-matched center, a 1 of 12 short shifter, and a Rennline aluminum weighted shift knob, pedal set, and floorboards. The front trunk has been lined with new OEM carpeting and features a custom-painted air suspension tank.

The air-cooled 3.6-liter M64 flat-six engine was factory-rated at 247 HP and sends power to all four wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transaxle. The engine has been serviced with new spark plugs, distributor caps and rotors, and custom ignition wires with Mini Tuck. It has also been modified with a Rennline carbon fiber heater bypass, cruise control, and blower delete, a chipped and reprogrammed ECU, an updated mass airflow sensor, Clewett Racing throttle position sensor, Fabspeed RSR headers with mini resonators, and a custom stainless-steel exhaust. The suspension features an Airlift Performance kit with 3P management, dual compressors, and a self-drain water tap. The seller adds that the clutch, differential, and brake fluids have been changed and a new Optima Redtop battery has been installed.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Available at auction for the first time is a stunning 1990 Porsche 911 C4, affectionately known as “Maverick.” This extraordinary vehicle has been transformed into an RWB (RAUH-Welt Begriff) masterpiece by the legendary Akira Nakai. Built in June 2017, Maverick holds the distinction of being the first RWB crafted by Nakai-San in North Carolina and is officially numbered RWB USA #63. Inspired by one of Nakai-San’s personal cars, the iconic “Stella.” It features the same aggressive stance and an inverse color palette, echoing the bold and unique RWB styling that Akira Nakai is renowned for. The name "Maverick" was chosen deliberately, symbolizing a person who thinks and acts independently, often defying expectations—a perfect homage to Nakai-San's trailblazing approach to car modification. RWB Maverick is more than just a modified car; it is a labor of love, a testament to the beauty of individuality and the artistry of automotive design. For me, Maverick embodies a dream realized—a fusion of precision engineering and creative expression. Owning Maverick has been a journey of passion and fulfillment, a manifestation of a vision that resonates deeply with the unconventional spirit it represents. This car is a celebration of those who dare to be different, who see beauty where others might not, and who appreciate the intricate artistry involved in creating something truly unique. Maverick is not just a vehicle; it’s an experience, a statement, a piece of art on wheels. Now, as I move forward, it’s time to pass this masterpiece on to someone who will cherish it as much as I have. Maverick is destined for someone who values art, embraces their individuality, and understands the profound connection between a person and their car. This isn’t just about owning a car; it’s about becoming a custodian of a legacy, a piece of history crafted by one of the most revered names in the world of custom cars.”

RWBMaverick, could you comment on what it's like to drive vs a stock C4? I have a 993 turbo and have driven plenty of air cooled 911's, but never something like this. Curious to know what the driving dynamics are like with the widebody and suspension set up.

Only if I could, but my bank just called me back, they laughed, then hung up. I don’t even need to drive it, just park it in my living room so I can sit there, cry quietly, and whisper, “You complete me.” It’s worth the divorce, and the kids don't really need college. I just need a minute alone to process my feelings.

As someone who has driven this car in stock form, took part in the build start to finish and spent time behind the wheel after the RWB conversion, it pains me to think she might not be local anymore. This car was built to be on the road, it's just a bonus that it's worthy of a desktop background, lol. Whether we were rowing gears in the twisties or kicking back in the garage just staring at it, this car brought all of us memories I will cherish for the rest of my life. Seller doesn't play games when it comes to his builds; corners were not cut with this machine. Can't speak highly enough of this build, seller and the facility that performed the most recent modifications and maintenance. Bid with confidence and GLWTA!
