Boasting an 18-year production run, the Mercedes-Benz R107 generation marked the first time a V8 engine would be fitted into the SL-Class. This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is finished in Arctic White over black leather and equips a removable body-color hardtop, a black convertible soft top, heated seats, power windows, cruise control, automatic climate control, a limited-slip differential, 15” Gullideckel alloy wheels, and much more. Acquired by the seller in 2022, this example is now being offered for auction out of Canada with approximately 54k kilometers (34k miles) showing on the odometer.
This SL-Class is finished in Arctic White (147U) with a matching removable hardtop and a black convertible soft top. Equipment includes chrome trim and bumpers, dual chrome mirrors, a front air dam, quad headlamps, front fog lights, an automatic antenna, dual exhaust tips, and silver-finished 15” Gullideckel alloy wheels mounted with Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus tires measuring 205/65. Power comes from a 5.6-liter M117 V8 engine factory-rated at 227 HP and 279 lb-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The 560SL was factory-equipped with power steering, a fully independent suspension, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes as standard equipment. If this beauty was on the other side of the border, it would have been a $40k car all day long!
We Ausies love Canada and the car would have a fine life in the dry warm climate in Australia.
Offer in the amount of $15,250
I watched the auction because I like these models. So following them I think I know the market. The seller needs to do some research. He is double anything reasonable.

Less than five hours remain in the auction. Remember—most of the action comes down to the final minutes. Wishing the best of luck to all the bidders today—let’s see who gets to bring this one home.
@atdds72 Paint is great on the car! meter readings are in the photo gallery. Please have a look. Thank you.
Bid in the amount of $1,000
Do you have paint meter recordings. There is a lot of not so good paintwork on the car. Didn’t know if it was for cosmetic or structural reasons.
Welcome to the auction and thank you for the thoughtful questions!
This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is an absolute classic and a true pleasure to present. • Air Conditioning: The A/C blows cold and functions well. I’ve added a reference photo of the sticker, but I’m not certain whether it has been converted to R134a. Regardless, it’s operating properly and can be enjoyed as-is. • Tires: The tires are from 2003 and should be replaced due to age. That said, this gives the new owner the opportunity to choose a fresh set of their preferred brand and style—an inexpensive and worthwhile upgrade for a car of this caliber. • Emissions Compliance: This is a Canadian-market Mercedes and features a factory emissions decal under the hood confirming it conforms to applicable Canadian standards. That same label also mentions U.S. federal emissions compliance. While California has its own set of strict rules, most states exempt vehicles that are 25+ years old from emissions testing altogether. Always a good idea to check with your local DMV for specific requirements. • Gray Market Status: This is not a gray-market or European import. It’s a Canadian-delivered car from new, and therefore built to North American standards—making it fully eligible for import into the U.S. without issue. • Import Process: The car is over 25 years old, so it qualifies for entry into the U.S. I work with one of the best brokers in the business who can handle all the paperwork for a small fee of $250. We also offer top-tier enclosed transport right to your doorstep at competitive rates, making the process simple and seamless. • Service Records: The car has seen fairly consistent service throughout its life. While the some of the services are stamped in the maintenance booklet, I will be uploading photos of the records and receipts for more recent service that has been performed. This 560SL runs beautifully and has clearly been cared for. • Timing Chain: I don’t have documentation confirming whether the timing chain has been upgraded. To my knowledge, this wasn’t a required update for 1988 models. • New Photos & Videos: By popular request, I’ve uploaded fresh content, including a walkaround, cold start, driving footage, and interior clips. Please check out the updated gallery.
