Customized under prior ownership with wide Turbo-style bodywork, this 1975 Porsche 911 Targa underwent a recent mechanical restoration by Schneider Autohaus of Santa Barbara. Invoices totaling over $35,000 include a rebuilt engine with an enlarged 3.0-liter displacement, a rebuilt CIS fuel injection system, rebuilt brake calipers, new brake lines, CV axles, tires, and a refreshed suspension with upgraded Turbo tie rods. The car also features late-model power seats, a four-spoke leather Carrera steering wheel, an upgraded sound system, and a Sony head unit. This striking air-cooled 911 Targa is now being offered for auction out of California.

This 911 was refinished in yellow and modified with wide 930 Turbo-style fenders, rockers, and bumpers under prior ownership. Equipment includes a removable black vinyl roof panel, a brushed aluminum Targa bar, a heated glass dome rear window, a front chin spoiler, front fog lights, headlamp washers, European-spec side market lights, black stone guard decals, and 16” Fuchs alloy wheels with newly installed tires. The seller describes the exterior as being in good driver-grade condition, showing a few small paint blemishes, aging weatherstripping, and patinaed trim pieces. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The black interior has been fitted with reupholstered late-model power seats, a Carrera 3.2 four-spoke leather steering wheel, and an upgraded sound system with a Sony head unit display. Other accessories include power windows, three-point seatbelts, analog VDO gauges, a heater, and a locking glovebox. The passenger window motor, switch, and regulator were recently replaced, and the driver’s door lock cylinder was rebuilt. The seller notes a minor gauge ground issue, and that the passenger window operates slowly at the top, requiring further adjustment or new top seals for a perfect seal.

The air-cooled flat-six engine was rebuilt by Schneider Autohaus of Santa Barbara, California, between 2024 and 2025. The work included a 3.0-liter displacement upgrade, reground camshafts, a rebuilt CIS fuel injection system, an MSD ignition coil, and all new seals and gaskets. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. Other services performed by Schneider Autohaus included new CV axle assemblies and boots, transaxle output shaft seals, rebuilt brake calipers, new brake lines and hoses, rear rotors, a new master cylinder, front struts, ball joints, Turbo tie rods, a new starter, and a wheel alignment. The rear spring plate bushings are noted for future replacement

This sale will include a spare tire, a car cover, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This car is a well-loved driver — built to be enjoyed on the road rather than tucked away. It’s only being offered for sale because the current owner has an extensive collection and needs to make room, not because there’s anything lacking in its performance or appeal.”

    @seller. Can you elaborate on the “minor gauge ground issue”.

    Another indication of a softening air-cooled market....

    @Vroom My apologies — I want to clarify that this car does not have air conditioning. There is a blue dial on the center console that can give the impression of an A/C control, and when I tested it, it did push out cool air. However, this is simply fresh air being forced through the ventilation system, not a dedicated A/C unit.

    Here in Santa Barbara, air conditioning is rarely used due to our mild coastal climate, so it’s not something we often think about. I just want to be completely transparent about that detail.

    Does it have A/C?

  • Hadz24 (registered bidder) 1 weekago

    @Glc86 Sorry to hear about your predicament, that really does suck. On the bright side, if you are the high bidder but reserve isn't met, I don't believe you are on the hook for any fees. I think only if it's a no reserve auction, or if the reserve had been met that the high bidder is charged fees. I could be wrong, but that's the way I understand it.

    @Glc86 Sorry to hear this!

    Hello everyone, We’re now entering the final three hours of this auction, and I want to highlight just how special this Porsche Targa is. This example represents the essence of a truly engaging and enjoyable driver’s car — one that’s ready to be driven and appreciated from day one. It is a genuine turnkey example with all maintenance current and up to date. Most importantly, it benefits from a complete, professionally executed engine rebuild, ensuring both performance and reliability for many miles to come.

    I was wondering about A/C as well. Either it's been retrofitted with fancy modern electric A/C, or the comment about the A/C working properly refers to the top coming off with no issues. :P

  • Glc86 (registered bidder) 1 weekago

    Well as of 6 Oct. at 1015 hrs. I was informed I am unemployed. Therefor I am unable to go forward with the purchase of the 75 Porsche. I fully understand if the car does not sell I will incur fees. This was supposed to be an early Christmas present to myself but the Fed Gov gave me one instead. The car seems to be a well sorted driver for which I was searching. I apologize to all for the inconvenience I may have caused but unfortunately this is out of my control at this time.

  • curiousoffice (registered bidder) 1 weekago

    The photos and video don't show any AC compressor at all so...just sayin...;)

  • ScottRulo (seller) 1 weekago

    @AJ1970 Yes, both the A/C and heat are working properly. My apologies for the delayed reply — I’ve been traveling.

  • ScottRulo (seller) 1 weekago

    @Glc86 Yes, both the A/C and heat are working properly, and all the gauges function as they should. My apologies for the delayed reply — I’ve been traveling.

  • Glc86 (registered bidder) 1 weekago

    @Michaelscheid25 I don't think so! Starting at pic 80

  • Michaelscheid25 (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

    Am I missing pictures of the underside?

  • ScottRulo (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

    @Hadz24 There are no leaks whatsoever, and the Porsche just received a major service. The minor ground issue was related to the clock, and that’s been fully resolved. The car is currently in my garage — I’ll start it up this afternoon and follow up regarding the A/C. Here in Santa Barbara, A/C use is pretty rare.

  • Hadz24 (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

    Are there any engine or trans leaks? Has the ac been upgraded to R134 and does it blow cold? What exactly is the "minor gauge ground issue" that is mentioned? Thank you.

  • ScottRulo (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

    If there’s anything specific you’d like to see on this 1975 Targa Widebody, just let me know — I’m happy to provide additional photos, videos, or details. I want to be as transparent as possible because there’s truly nothing to hide with this Porsche. It’s an honest, well-sorted car that’s every bit as fun as it looks — an absolute blast to drive and a joy to experience from behind the wheel.

    @Painlss85 Keep in mind that the engine in the Targa has been completely rebuilt and currently has fewer than 1,500 miles on it. This means it’s essentially like new, with minimal wear and tear, offering excellent performance and reliability moving forward.

    I see that the speedometer is in metric KPH. Are the numbers on the odometer in miles or in kilometers? That would make a difference in whether the total amount is miles or not. Please advise. Thanks
