This 1971 Porsche 911T Targa underwent a comprehensive seven-year restoration beginning in January 2017. The work included a professional refinish in Silver Metallic by East Auto Body, a custom Houndstooth interior by K&H European Auto Upholstery, a 2.4-liter engine upgrade by Air Cooled Garage, the installation of a rebuilt 5-speed manual transmission, and various additional enhancements. Reportedly driven approximately 1,000 miles since completion, this beautifully presented 911T is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
As part of the rotisserie restoration, this 911T received new rust-free panels sourced from Restoration Design of Ontario, Canada, followed by reassembly by California Porsches in Costa Mesa. The body was refinished in Silver Metallic by East Auto Body of Orange, and a Targa top from another car was fitted. Additional work included refinishing the chrome and mounting replacement 15” Fuchs wheels with Dunlop Direzza DZ102 tires. Minor paint chips are noted on the front hood, and detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Inside, the cabin was restored with black upholstery and houndstooth seat inserts by K&H European Auto Upholstery of Garden Grove, California. Modifications include a custom leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, GTS Classics front bucket seats, a JWest Engineering RennShift Performance Shifter, RS-style door panels with red pull straps, Rennline floorboards and pedals, and a fire extinguisher. A set of Coco floor mats and a retro-style Bluetooth radio will accompany the sale. The analog clock and oil gauge are currently inoperable.
A replacement 2.2-liter flat-six was rebuilt and enlarged to displace 2.4 liters by the specialists at Air Cooled Garage of Lake Forest, California. The rear wheels are driven through a rebuilt replacement 901 5-speed manual transmission. Additionally, the suspension was refurbished and powder-coated, and new brakes were installed. The seller states that a collection of documentation will be included in the sale.
This sale will include a clean title, a spare tire, service records, Coco floor mats, and a retro-style radio with Bluetooth connectivity.
The seller would like you to know: “The car runs strong. There’s nothing left to do but enjoy! It underwent a 7-year full rotisserie restoration and has been driven approximately 1,000 miles since completion.”

Sorry - disregard. Just looked at the photos again. My SC has both so made the assumption the older cars did as well.
Oil level, or oil pressure; there should be (2) oil gauges?
@Brennstone it is indeed a new DANSK muffler. The oil gauge just goes straight to the top with the needle so clearly it’s not operable.
@targatarga
Lovely car! Can you tell me if you ran the Dansk, or a Sport Muffler, description in docs just says new muffler. Description also says the oil gauge is non-op. Is that the oil pressure, or oil level gauge. Thanks in Advance!

See the attached documents that has detail on the invoice for the engine build.
How was the engine increased to 2.4L (through bore or stroke?). Were there other engine performance enhancements done at this time? Thank you.
Bid in the amount of $25,000
@Awesome No rust at all. All rust panels we're replaced. The car is as water tight as a targa can be. I had European Collectibles in Costa Mesa do the final adjustments to the top of the door/window gaps.
@Awesome I'll post a driving video Monday. The car really moves. I did my best to log a 0 to 60 time and it was about 6 seconds.
@Awesome Just uploaded pictures of the stereo. It's bluetooth enabled.
