Positioned above the entry-level 911T in Porsche’s model range, the 911E featured more luxurious accommodations and Bosch mechanical fuel injection for its flat-six engine. This 1971 example is one of 1,088 Porsche 911E Coupes produced for the model year. It came factory-finished in Burgundy Red over Black leatherette upholstery and was specified for the U.S. market with a 5-speed manual transaxle. The car had reportedly been kept by its original owner until 2012 and was stored in a garage by the next owner until the seller’s purchase in 2020. This 911E subsequently underwent a restoration including a bare metal repaint in its original color, a refurbished interior with custom wood trim, and a rebuild of the original engine with upgraded internals and a 2.4-liter displacement. Driven approximately 1k miles since completion, this professionally restored 911E is now being offered for auction out of Georgia, accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

Featuring classic long-hood bodywork, this 911E was stripped to bare metal and refinished in its original color of Burgundy Red (24) by Carport Classic of Braselton in 2024. Various rubber seals, trim pieces, lenses, and hardware were replaced during this time. Equipment includes chrome trim and body moldings, chrome bumperettes with rubber overriders, rocker panel deco trim, a driver’s side mirror, a fender-mounted antenna, pop-out rear quarter windows, anodized gold decklid badging, and a polished exhaust pipe. The original 15” Fuchs wheels have been professionally restored, and a matching spare wheel is mounted in the luggage compartment. Some small scratches are shown on the passenger door and the left side in the photo gallery.

The interior has been refurbished with new black leatherette upholstery, an Ivory headliner, Anthracite carpeting, and rosewood dashboard trim. Accessories include a wood-trimmed four-spoke steering wheel, a Porsche-crested wood gear knob, custom Black Mamba wood turn signal stalks and dashboard knobs, aluminum door sill trim, brown coco floor mats, manual roll-up windows, a heater, three-point seatbelts, and a Blaupunkt pushbutton radio. The seller notes the electrical system has been updated, and the gauges were restored by Palo Alto Speedometers using new LED lights.

The fuel-injected 2.2-liter flat-six engine was enlarged to displace 2.4 liters by JB Racing in 2021, featuring new ARP rod bolts and head studs, a balanced and polished crankshaft, modifications to the oil system, and engine case machining. The engine was later rebuilt by Martin Altolaguirre of Auto Atlanta in 2024, including an updated mechanical fuel injection system, fuel pump, and pistons. The original 5-speed manual transaxle and suspension are also reportedly restored by classic Porsche specialists. An invoice for the engine rebuild is provided in the gallery.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a spare tire, a car cover, a battery trickle charger, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “I have owned this car since 2020 and oversaw the complete rebuild since. All the work was done in Georgia by classic Porsche experts. Engine and transmission by Martin Altoguire, Paint by Carport Classic (Doug Duffy), suspensions and final detailing by John Kobbs (9xx Guys). This is a daily driver, runs very smoothly, no issues whatsoever. Also, no rust issues. In addition to the price of the car, the investment into its restoration was over $170k, plus the cost of the car. All work documents are available for review. This is a very unique color, and the restoration work did not spare any expense.”

The result says: nobody in the market wants to pay more than $70k for this car, but the seller won’t sell for less than $150k

    Meaning it’s a keeper

@550bryan thank you for asking. Given the quality restoration performed, the car being restored to a condition 2 car, virtually brand new everything, I do not understand either.

@doctino1423 the engine was rebuilt through 2020 and 2022 as parts were mechanically restored or sourced. The Pcarmarket note can create some confusion. The 2021 engine case work was part of that overall rebuild where we decided It was worth machining the engine case prior to completing the whole rebuild. In other words, there as only one rebuild.

  • xtochoq (seller) 6 days, 15 hoursago

@sab2025 the original wheel is coming with the car with its horn. I do not have the knobs who were in too bad of a shape.

  • sab2025 (registered bidder) 6 days, 16 hoursago

Do you have all the original knobs, wheel, dash pieces, etc? If so, are they included with sale? Personally not a fan of the custom stuff.

@eagle32 what makes you think that the hoses are not new? Martin Altolaguirre did the work and is one of the best air cool mechanics in Georgia. I can put you in touch with him for more explanation on what the engine rebuild was about.

  • xtochoq (seller) 1 weekago

@eagle32 please refine your question. The cost overall restoration cost was split between paint, engine , suspensions, transmission, interior… all new and upgraded whenever possible. the engine parts paint can certainly be addressed. This is not concours of course but a very nice condition 2 car.

  • eagle32 (registered bidder) 1 weekago

The engine was rebuilt but with the engine dismantled the shop did not bother to paint the air filter box or install new hoses? And after $170,000 the seats were not reupholstered?

@Munich911 I will update later today with a close up photo of the item.

  • xtochoq (seller) 1 week, 1 dayago

@355gtb the seats are original and were not recovered. The dashboard rosewood trim is a modification done by a local wood artist in 2025. Adds a classic touch.

  • 355gtb (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago

It appears the rear seats were not recovered during the interior restoration ?
Could you comment . Also the wood trim was that original or a modification ?

Sorry to labor the point but it’s difficult to distinguish the scratches on the passenger door with the sun light. Can you please isolate the scratches and post better pics? Thanks in advance.

    Sorry for the grammatical errors.

This appears to be a very nice example that has been thoroughly restored. I got a number of 911s over the years but one of my favorites was the 911t of this vintage in aubergine with a tan interior. I really love that car. We all have cars. We wish we had them sold and that was one of the ones I wish I still had.

  • xtochoq (seller) 1 week, 1 dayago

@Munich911 thank you. $170k went in the restoration. Paint wise, light scratches on the right passenger door ( visible in the photo gallery). No odd noise when driving.

  • Munich911 (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago

Beautiful restoration. Approximately how much was spent on the restoration? Are there any imperfection in the exterior paint? Are there any creeks or rattles in the interior while driving?

@area901 tool roll not available with the car. Original books are coming with the car as well as all work done on the car since 1972. Thank you for your questions.

  • area901 (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

Are the original owner's books as well as the tool roll still with the car?

  • xtochoq (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

I am the second owner to actually drive this car. First owner bought the car in 1972. Garaged it in 1985 and sold it to previous owner who parked it in his garage until 2020 when I purchased it. The car went through a complete restoration over 4 years, using the best professionals Incould find in Georgia. It is a matching number car. It drives amazingly, comfortable and fast. Definitely a daily driver.

Hi everyone. I am proud to offer the result of a 4 year restoration process where no expense was spared to bring this garage find to a brand new and refined state. I am lucky to have been able to work with serious Porsche air cool specialists who helped me bring this 911e to life... a brand new 54 year old jewel of a car. I have driven it about a 1000 miles since restoration completion. Very smooth and exciting drive each time I take her out. Why am I selling? To finance a new home. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions. Good luck bidding. Christophe
