Launched for the 2014 model year, the 991-generation Porsche 911 GT3 was the first to offer a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission, which is paired with a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine producing 475 HP. This example is finished in rare Amaranth Red Metallic paint over a Black leather and Alcantara interior. It was factory-equipped with the optional Front Axle Lift System, Sport Chrono Package, LED headlights with PDLS+, Light Design Package, PCM with navigation, leather center console trim, Sound Package Plus, and auto-dimming mirrors. The car was owned in Florida and Illinois before being purchased by the current owner in 2016. It was customized with paint-matched exterior accents, exhaust headers, a BBI center exhaust, and light gold-finished 20” Signature center-lock wheels. Showing less than 15k miles on the odometer, this GT3 is now being offered for auction out of Hawaii.

My understanding is that the E series engines were the ones with high failure rates that led to the free replacement and subsequent remarkable 10 year warranty, Replacements were done with F or G series engines, depending on replacement date. The F series also had some concerns, but markedly less frequent. I own a 2015 GT3 with an F series engine and feel comfortable with it. An E series engine would cause me to worry.
@Ram3k yes. Porsche did recall 785. Those were the first 785 GT3’s produced. 400 was delivered to the US those got the recall per Stuttcars.com. Article
I read that Porsche recalled all 785 of this model.
Beautiful example - GLWTS !
When I owned my 15 I did oil analysis at every oil change,.
Ugh of course this has to be in Hawaii!? 😩
Cam Bolt Failure
Recently bid on a 2016 GT4 with a 3.8L and in 2023 the cam bolts (aluminum?) snapped. Motor was not replaced. But, cam bolts were replaced with steel bolts. Approx $6,000 fix. Covered under extended warranty. Don’t know the reason for engine recall of 2014-2016.
@vichang4 I was reading someplace and it was the motors that came with the cars from Oct 2013 to Jan 2014. Hopefully mine was after that or it went down a different path because of the paint option. All the tags on the body match’s the engine. So it is the original motor. I didn’t get any letters or recall notice for it. Good or bad!
Those wheels look great on this car. GL
@porsdrvr95 Good question. All 2014 engines were suppose to be replaced under warranty. If I remember correctly Porsche even issued a “please don’t drive until the engine is replaced” letter.
Not all engines are bad but I did not find the problem with my 2015 car until I had a few track days on it.
When Porsche Hawaii did the service under my ownership I’m sure they had protocols as to how to inspect and even have the oil tested. If there was a problem with the motor then, something would have happened years ago! You know what I mean! I drove this car and truly enjoyed it. Shipping with Matson, their rates is $1,050 to the west coast.
Bid in the amount of $50,000
I owned a 15 for many years. I became curious about the 2014 recall and studied it extensively. Even wrote Porsche regarding confirmation of the extended warranty. In short, I learned a lot, most importantly only a few hundred had the engine fisure. Porsche only first warrantied the 14s then extended to all 15 and 16s, 10 years or 100k miles, as a show of good faith and for marketing purposes. A bad stigma came of it, but not all of the 991.1s are lepers - just a few. If this car has come this far, no reason to suspect it has an issue. Now, if it has an issue and its concealed, thats a different ball of wax.
If the motor needs replacement I would assume it would be expensive. Any documentation on engine inspection? Would seller mind providing quote from forwarder for transport to the mainland. This is a beautiful car.
Idk why the motor wasn’t replaced. The local Porsche dealer was doing the service and maintenance. If there was an issue I’m sure they would have addressed it at the time. I never had any issues with the car in my 9 yrs of ownership. Shipping to the westcoast runs about $1,000.
Two questions: 1 why wasn’t the engine replaced under warranty? 2. Any idea on freight cost back to the mainland
It has the original motor.
Updated motor? Sorry if this was answered
