Among the last of Porsche’s air-cooled 911s, this 1998 Porsche 993 Carrera Cabriolet is one of only 1,201 North American Cabriolets built for the 993’s final model year. Originally delivered at O’Daniel Porsche in Fort Wayne, Indiana, this example is finished in Ocean Blue Metallic over a Classic Grey interior and features a 6-speed manual transmission. Factory options include 18” Technology lightweight hollow-spoke wheels, the Motor Sound Package, carbon and aluminum-trimmed brake and shifter levers, and more. This 993 is now being offered for auction out of New Mexico with approximately 40k miles showing on the odometer. A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a window sticker, the owner’s manual, and service records accompany the sale.
This Carrera Cabriolet was ordered in Ocean Blue Metallic (L3AZ) with a black power convertible top. Other features include a speed-activated rear spoiler, a raised “basket handle” third brake light, dual exhaust outlets, black brake calipers with white Porsche lettering, and optional 18” Technology lightweight hollow-spoke wheels with colored Porsche crests. It rides on Continental ExtremeContact tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report noting minor rear-end damage in April 2018.
The cabin is appointed with Classic Grey partial leather upholstery. Optional amenities include a Porsche wind deflector, a fully power-adjustable driver’s seat, and carbon and aluminum-trimmed brake and shifter levers. Other features consist of a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, air conditioning, cruise control, and an upgraded Porsche Classic radio with Bluetooth capability. The seller adds that the front trunk struts and engine lid struts were replaced in May 2022, and the speakers have been replaced.
Factory-rated at 282 HP, the air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine features a Varioram resonant induction system and drives the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The optional Motor Sound Package provides a more aggressive tone with a louder airbox and mufflers. The chassis includes fully independent suspension with front & rear stabilizer bars and a Multi-Link LSA rear suspension, as well as four-piston vented disc brakes with ABS. The seller reports that the sway bar link was replaced in May 2022, and the springs were replaced in November 2023 along with an oil change.
This sale will include a clean title, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, a window sticker, the owner’s manual, and service records. Also included is one quart of Mobil 1 oil and a carrying case, along with the original speakers and head unit.
The seller would like you to know: “This is a top-notch driver quality 993 and is completely corrosion-free and mechanically sound. During my ownership, it’s been stored inside in dry New Mexico. I’ve changed the oil once as well as installed a new battery (due to weak starting after sitting 10-15 days). Driven at least once every 2 weeks.”

@MAPC Yes!
The damage was limited to the rear fascia and involved a replacement of the bumper cover, some clips, and a respray of those parts. I do have the auto body invoice and photos, so I’ll see to it that those are uploaded. Thanks!

Is anything known about the extent of the rear damage that occurred in 2018?

@mbkerner Besides the posted undercarriage photos, is there anything specific you’d like to see closer?
The video does show the Guages with the car running but I’ll take another longer one.
As noted, the only service done under my ownership is an oil change with OEM recommended Mobile1 and new battery. This car and the shown documents are well sorted. Are you close enough to come have a look in person? If not, I’m happy to deliver it for ppi anywhere you like.
Pretty car. Definitely interested. But hard to bid given limited information.
No service done in 2 years From what I see you have had it for a year and only driven 200 miles.
Any detailed photos from under car and engine? Pictures of gauges when running/ driving?
Would probably more than pay for itself if you got a PPI done and/or a dealer service done and posted it.
As a pilot you know how important regular professional maintenance is and how small things can cause expensive problems.
Hi all!
Sadly it’s time for the 993 to go to someone who’ll get more use, so here she is!
I’m a pilot by trade and an amateur airplane builder, and this car will reflect my thorough and methodical maintenance standards. Mechanically, it needs nothing and I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere. Cosmetically, it’s just about perfect for the role of a real drivers car, and shows beautifully. I’ve done my best to also include as many photos and explanation of any imperfections. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions, or if you’d like to come have a look in person!
