Featuring Porsche’s newly designed sliding glass roof system, the 993-generation Targa debuted in 1996 and remained in production through 1998 with just 4,583 units built. This 1997 example is one of only 567 delivered to the United States for the model year, finished in Black over a matching interior and equipped with an optional Tiptronic automatic transmission, pleated leather upholstery, power seats with driver’s lumbar support, cruise control, traction control, and more. Showing approximately 81k miles on the odometer, this air-cooled Targa is being offered for auction out of New Jersey.
The 993 Targa features a green-tinted laminated glass roof that slides beneath the rear window and includes an electrically retractable sunshade. This example is finished in Black and rides on 17” Turbo Twist wheels wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact tires. Additional equipment includes fog lights, a speed-activated rear spoiler, black brake calipers with Porsche lettering, and dual exhaust outlets. Minor age-appropriate wear is noted, and the CARFAX report documents minor damage in 2017, 2018, and 2019, which the seller states required refinishing in the affected areas. The Black interior features pleated leather front and rear seats, driver’s seat lumbar support, cruise control, a sound system, and more.
