Configured as a Rest of World (RoW) market example in Guards Red over a Black interior, this 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet was purchased new by a Doctor in West Virginia and remained under his ownership until his passing in 2021. It comes equipped with a 3.2-liter flat-six engine, a 5-speed manual transaxle, an optional limited-slip differential, leather Sport Seats, air conditioning, cruise control, and 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. Acquired by the seller in 2025 and serviced with a new DME unit, crank sensors, and valve adjustment, this 911 is now being offered for auction out of Ohio.

The exterior is finished in Guards Red with a black convertible top. Equipment includes Euro-spec side marker lights and bumperettes, headlamp washers, integrated fog lights, heated power mirrors, a rear spoiler, and 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels with Continental tires from 2020. The exterior is noted to be in excellent condition, with its original paint and soft top fabric intact. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The Black interior features optional leather Sport Seats and a three-spoke leather steering wheel. Other accessories include power windows, folding rear seatbacks, air conditioning, cruise control, and an updated Blaupunkt San Diego MP27 stereo. The original metric speedometer was reportedly swapped with a U.S.-spec unit upon the car’s importation. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

Power comes from an air-cooled 3.2-liter M930/21 flat-six engine, which has been fitted with a U.S.-spec catalyst exhaust system. The rear wheels are driven through a 5-speed Type 915 manual transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential. Since purchasing the car in April 2025, the seller oversaw replacements of the crank sensor, DME unit, valve adjustments, an oil change, and an air conditioning service with updated R134a refrigerant.

This sale will include owner’s manuals and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Where are you going to find a 40-year-old car that doesn’t need messing with? Where are you going to find an original that will win your local concours? Needs nothing. You’ve found it!”

@seller.... I'm going to follow-up on my prior questions.
-The paint thickness can't be 35mm. That would be over 1" thick. I'd expect something like 4 mils or 100 microns on this car.
-It may not be dripping, but there looks to be some sort of oil/fluid on the clutch housing... slide 129.
-And a photo of the spoiler, on its exterior underside would help show that it's a Porsche part. Porsche shield/logo should be there.
    Thanks.

Saddletramp— I have a walk around I will put up tomorrow. Look at the photos included at the trunk and engine compartment. Better than a video. Thanks.

I think it’s 35 mm. Notice all are the same. The paint is all original. No records before 2021. Car came from a WVa Doctors collection after his death. Trued hard to get more, but no cooperation. The transmission is dry, no leaking. I bet the spoiler was
    On the car when new.
Why. The fit and finish are factory quality, plus air conditioning was an included option, and there is a large condenser built in spoiler. -?? It’s registered as an 85 on the title, car fax confirmed too. Over the years, my 40 yrs in the car business , I’ve seen many cars produced in the fall registered to the next year. ??

A few questions and comments for @ seller. (Nice looking Cab).
-what are the units on the paint thickness measurements shown?
-any service records available prior to 2021?
-does slide 129 show some leakage around the transmission?
-I assume that the rear spoiler was added at some point (not unusual), as the options codes list doesn't include it. Can the seller confirm that it is a Porsche spoiler (with the Porsche logo located on its underside)?
-some discussion here whether this is a 1984 or 1985 model...Maybe not a big deal, but I'd think the VIN would 'prove' what model year it is???
    Thank you.

@tlup you are correct this is a 1984 that was likely imported in 1985 and registered as such.

  • Gefiltefunk (registered bidder) 2 days, 2 hoursago

@wwoode It's a Rear fog light not a tail light SMH. Also this is a 1985 model as to @tlups's ?? the antenna in the right fender/ QP and the SC style sport seats tell us that. The 85' and later MY cars, if equipped with sport seats, would have more rounded style bolsters which we see up till the end of the 964 era. 85 would also not have an antenna in the front RH quarter panel.

Check the cold start video included. It will show the engine compartment open with the engine running. I’ll try to do a walk a round later. Busy with Ohio State game today.

@wwood would you mind posting a walk around video and opening the trunk and engine compartments? Also, can you include opening the convertible top? Much appreciation!

  • tlup (registered bidder) 2 days, 15 hoursago

No problem. I may be explaining it incorrectly. Tried to take a picture of the door and circle the area I’m talking about, but it won’t let me post pictures.

  • wwoode (seller) 3 daysago

Door jams are pictured both front and back on both doors. Am I missing something?

  • tlup (registered bidder) 3 daysago

Thank you for your response. I’ve looked through the pictures several times and cannot find the end of the inside of the door on any of the pictures. Maybe I’m missing it but just can’t see them. Appreciate your responses.

Just a follow-up, - please scan to the near last photos. There is a white sticker that shows importation on 8 /84 and the car passes all USA regulations.

  • wwoode (seller) 3 days, 1 hourago

Flip. Want to see the euro taillight up close. Watch the start up video for a closeup.

The door jams, both sides, front and rear are posted in the pictures. The Porsche has sport seats. Can’t tell you if the seats are different in euro and USA modes. The sport seats are comfortable. Im sure the car was properly imported by the Doctor when it was new. The small taillight on the left rear is a telltale that’s its euro. Required in Europe. Thanks again

  • tlup (registered bidder) 3 days, 3 hoursago

Would you be able to post pictures of the inside of the doors/jams on the side where the door handles are located? Thank you

  • tlup (registered bidder) 3 days, 3 hoursago

Was the car properly imported/federalized into the US? Do you have the paperwork or are there any markings on the car? also, was the ROW interior different from the us models in 1985 as I was looking at an 85 us model with the newer style seats. thank you

Somebody is missing out of a great opportunity to own a museum piece that can be enjoyed on a beautiful sunny cloudless day with top down.

  • Saddletramp1964 (registered bidder) 3 days, 21 hoursago

What is going on here? No bids? Am I missing something here? If anyone is willing to share their opinions, please do. This 911 looks tempting and seems to be in great shape.

  • wwoode (seller) 4 daysago

The paint, and interior are ALL original. People walk up to it at auto shows and gasp after I tell them it’s original. Not a dent, scratch or stone dings. Really uncanny. Interior the same. Leather is beautiful. Dash and instruments all are working correctly . As new. Slight carpet fading around rear seats. That’s it. No compression done, because it runs and sounds excellent, mileage under 30,000. Thanks for the questions.

  • tlup (registered bidder) 4 days, 2 hoursago

have you performed a cylinder compression test? I see some paint meter readings in the pics, do you believe the paint is all original? What about the originality of the interior and glass? Thank you
