Produced for the 1983 model year only, the Porsche 911SC Cabriolet holds the distinction of being the first fully open-top 911 convertible model. This lifelong West Coast example was acquired by the seller from its second owner in August 2019 with just over 100k original miles on the odometer. Between then and 2022, a comprehensive, glass-out restoration and complete engine rebuild were performed, including new Mahle pistons and cylinders, Supertech-refurbished cylinder heads, and a Carrera-style hydraulic tensioner upgrade. The exterior was refinished in its original Light Bronze Metallic color, and the cabin was fully re-trimmed, featuring new Classic 9 leather upholstery, refurbished VDO gauges by Palo Alto Speedometer, and an upgraded Alpine Bluetooth stereo. Meticulously restored by a passionate enthusiast with 50 years of air-cooled mechanical experience, this 911SC Cabriolet is now being offered for auction out of California.

Retaining its factory-optioned Turbo-style front and rear spoilers, the body was completely stripped for a glass-out repaint in its original Light Bronze Metallic (R6) finish. Several exterior rubber, gaskets, and seals were replaced, including those for the windows, doors, and sunroof. The front end was fitted with H4 headlamps retained within the classic sugar scoops, while the rear received a restored center reflector and refurbishment of the rear taillight lens. Additional work included new license plate bulb housings, overhauled fog lamps, a refurbished Hirschmann power antenna, and new washer pumps and nozzles for both the headlamps and windshield. Other refurbishments include a new hood crest, correct factory decals throughout the engine bay, a new paint code sticker under the hood, powder-coated wiper arms, and refinished hardware. The original paint code sticker will accompany the sale. Replacement 16” Maxilite Fuchs-style alloy wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The brown interior was restored using OEM-quality materials, including new carpeting, door cards, and full-leather seat covers. The dash and door tops were re-trimmed with Classic 9 leather pieces along with the factory steering wheel. The original VDO instruments were restored and upgraded by Palo Alto Speedometer with improved internal components and white LED backlighting. The interior also features new rocker switches, a new rearview mirror, updated courtesy and defroster light assemblies, heater control knobs, aluminum door handles, Coco floor mats, carpets, and an Alpine Bluetooth head unit with new speakers. The seller notes that the electric mirror knob works intermittently, a new windshield washer pump needs to be mounted, and the uninstalled A/C compressor and condenser are included in the sale. Some of the convertible top plastic trim pieces are missing or cracked.

The air-cooled 3.0-liter flat-six engine's top end was stripped down and rebuilt using new Mahle pistons and cylinders. Supertech rebuilt the heads, while both camshafts were replaced with factory-specification grinds. The rebuild included a resurfaced and balanced flywheel, new chain ramps, updated Carrera chain tensioners, and a Supertech rocker arm bushing upgrade. The fuel and oil systems were overhauled, including a new fuel pump, fuel lines, injectors, oil lines, return tubes, and a refurbished oil tank. The engine also benefits from refinished and powder-coated tins, valve covers, and brackets. The 5-speed manual transaxle was overhauled with a new Sachs clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, pilot bearing, and mounts. The suspension features all new shocks with Bilstein front inserts and upgraded Turbo tie rods. The seller indicates a California emissions check was passed in April 2025, and a valve adjustment and oil change were completed in August 2025.

This sale will include a reproduction owner’s manual, a spare tire, a car cover, a battery trickle charger, and a clean title. The original paint code sticker will accompany the sale, along with a Valentine V1 first-generation radar detector.

The seller would like you to know: “My beautifully restored 911SC Cab was a three-year, glass-out restoration completed in 2022. There are ~1800 miles since restoration, which started at ~100K on the odometer. The mileage you see in the photos is actual. I am the 3rd owner; it was originally an AZ car but spent most of its life in CA. Easily passes smog in CA. Fresh ceramic coating on new paint. Virtually everything is new or rebuilt on this car, from engine top (pistons up) to full 915 trans rebuild, full paint and interior, this car is near showroom condition.”
