Introduced in August 1962, the Austin-Healey 3000 MKII BJ7 is a two-seater convertible renowned for its saloon-like comfort and powered by a dual-carbureted 2.9-liter inline-six engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission. This 1963 example was acquired by the seller in Florida in 2014 and was recently imported to Canada. Subsequently, it was treated to an engine and transmission refurbishment at Fitzback Garage of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, Quebec. This BJ7 is now being offered for auction on behalf of the current owner.
Compared to the BN7 and BT7 models, the BJ7 introduced a fully collapsible soft top and a curved front windscreen. This example is said to have been refinished in metallic blue some time ago. Details include a black top, a hood vent, a distinctive oval grille, fender-mounted rearview mirrors, and wire-spoke wheels with two-eared knock-off spinners. Minor imperfections are noted, and detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The black-upholstered cabin features a wood-rimmed Moto-Lita three-spoke steering wheel, white-faced instrumentation, chrome trim, and a wooden shift knob. Accessories also include a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror, a passenger’s side grab handle, wind-up windows, and climate controls.
Power comes from a 2.9-liter inline-six engine featuring dual SU HS6 carburetors. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller states the engine and transmission were comprehensively refurbished by Fitzback Garage in early 2025 at a cost of nearly $20k, and photo documentation is provided in the gallery. No outstanding maintenance items have been reported.
This sale will include a Canadian registration.
