Available for auction is an astonishingly rare, illuminated Porsche dealership letter set. This Porsche dealership sign consists of the seven letters of P-O-R-S-C-H-E that measure approximately 20 feet wide by 15 inches tall when placed together, with each letter measuring approximately 30 inches wide.
The sign was available from a California Porsche dealership in 2018 when the California Clean Energy Act (SB 100) was enacted. As a result, all signage in the state of California had to comply with Senate Bill 100. To meet State of California regulations, Porsche Dealerships statewide had to meet compliance requirements in order to receive their sign permits. Throughout the state of California, new SB 100 replacement signage was installed at all Porsche dealerships.
As the signs are supposed to be dismantled and destroyed when removed, some slipped through the cracks and ended up in private collections. Using LED lighting, the letters are individually illuminated to meet SB 100 specifications mandated by California state. Each letter is fully restored and reconstructed of a silver-finished metal case capped with red plastic. Images of the letters prior to their restoration can be viewed in the gallery.
