Available for auction is a newly rebuilt 2004 Porsche 986 2.7L engine. Factory equipped for a 986 Boxster and rated at 228 HP; this flat-six Vario-Cam engine was pulled from its original vehicle following failure of the IMS at approximately 39k miles. It has since been completely rebuilt by the seller, a Porsche technician with over 35 years of experience. The main and rod bearings were replaced along with all chain tensioners, rod bolts, crank cage bolts, cylinder head bolts and piston rings. An Upgraded EPS roller IMS bearing was installed as well. The heads were pressure checked for cracks, a valve job was performed, and a new oil cooler was fitted. There have been zero miles added to the rebuilt engine and the buyer will have to supply their own intake manifolds, fuel system, electrical harness, and auxiliary accessories. The engine block has been modified so that it can be installed in any Boxster from model year 2000 through 2007. The difference for the M.Y 2005 to 2007 is the oil pump and coolant connection on the front of the block. Both are pictured in the photos. The buyer is responsible for shipping, handling, and fees. Delivery in the state of Florida by the seller is possible.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to let you know I am here to answer any questions. I bought this motor from a Boxster owner that stated he heard noises in the motor . He had it towed to his Indy shop, they said bad IMS at 39K miles. He replaced the motor with a used one and I bought the old one from him. I was amazed that when it was disassembled, there was very little damage other than the IMS shaft and chain slides. No damage to the valve train or pistons so this was a great candidate for a rebuild. Pix 1 is for M/Y 2000-2004 and pix 2 is for M/y 2005-2007
