Up for auction is an original painting by renowned automotive artist Stephen Selzler. "917K" is an art piece that showcases one of Porsches most legendary creations, the 1970 Porsche 917 racecar. Standing at 36"x48" this mixed-media painting depicts the often-celebrated car that earned Porsche it's first LeMans over-all win. This painting was masterfully created with acrylic paint, pen and ink, charcoal, oil pastel, aerosol paint and gloss varnish on linen canvas, stretched over 3.5"-deep wooden stretcher bars.
Stephen Selzler is a fine artist / designer with a focus on automotive culture. Operating out of his studio in Dallas, TX, Selzler has spent the past decade as a practicing graphic designer and brand strategist, serving various luxury and aspirational brands across North America. Stephen’s influences come from a small variety of particular artists and designers from the American midcentury, pop, and postmodern movements to make up his stylistic repertoire. This incredibly unique art piece will make for a wonderful addition to any automotive enthusiast / art collection.

Thanks again to all of you for following, bidding, and sharing! I have some exciting work coming down the pike soon that I'll be more than happy to share here at PCarMarket, so watch for that in the coming days.
The automotive artists (including myself, Michael Ledwitz, and others) on this site are thrilled to serve this community and aim to support, encourage, and elevate each other in the name of commemorating this here fellowship of car enthusiasts. The machines we collect are beyond just pricey toys or transportation appliances; they're a projection of our personalities, aspirations, and the legacies we wish to leave behind. That statement *SURELY* hyperbolizes the hobby just a bit, but we also know it's a way of life for so many of you. If we help you all feel venerated through our work, then we're doing our jobs. Thanks to each and every one of you for supporting us artists and designers, even if it's just helping us spread our names around.
Lastly, congratulations to fumanchu for the winning bid! Happy that this piece is going to a good home.

Sold for $1,900
Just a reminder for everyone bidding and not finding shipping info in the description, shipping costs will be the responsibility of the buyer via FedEx / UPS (I'll help calculate those fees if it sells), but the sale DOES include crating/packaging by my studio. Shipping rates are fairly reasonable given the size and relatively low weight of the total piece (est. between 15-20 lbs.)
Good luck!
I don't have a witty way of announcing a 15-minute warning at the moment, but ... this is the 15-minute warning. Good luck, everyone!

2 days left, folks! Thanks again for bidding, I’m hopeful this piece goes to a good home. Make it a great week!
@stephenselzler thank you so much for the thorough reply! It is a beautiful piece of work. I love that car, it’s history and 23 is my birth date and track number! Haha.
@Don — Hey Don! This should be perfectly fine in a non-HVAC environment. That’s where it’s stored currently :)
If this were a more sensitive medium (i.e. unvarnished oil with a linseed product on top, etc.) I would be more concerned since some mediums can warp and yellow with temperature changes. The primary medium here is acrylic product, which I’ve had very good luck with in regards to environmental resilience.
In regards to shipping, the sales price does not include shipping, but I WILL offer to construct the crate free of charge. However, this size fits within the parameters of FedEx / UPS retail shipping, so the rates are fairly reasonable — especially due to the low weight of the product.
The crate I build for these is constructed of an inner structure of construction-grade foam sheeting, form-fitted to the dimensions of the piece, plus an outer exoskeleton made of low-weight plywood— again, form fitted to the dimensions of the piece plus inner foam layer.
If you want to see what your estimated shipping costs would be, plug the following dimensions in to FedEx or UPS’s shipping rate calculators:
From: Dallas, Texas
To: (destination city)
Dimensions: 38” x 50” x 7”
Weight: 17 lbs
(All estimates)
@stephenselzler how sensitive is the artwork to its surroundings? I’m thinking about two different places for this piece. In my well appointed, but non-HVAC, garage with temps ranging from 50 to 80 or in my office above a heating radiator.
Is shipping included in the selling price?
