@wab_jr thank you for clarifying, you are correct, these are actually 2 piece wheels
@wab_jr The center cap isn’t a considered a component/“piece”. Sorry for the fat-fingered “VP”
I have these also. Technically, not 3 piece wheels, two piece wheels is the correct reference. These have one piece barrels & the center bolts to the barrel. 3 piece wheels have split barrels & centers that bolt to outer rim half. The center cap doesn’t qualify as a VP “piece”.
@Maxoverdrive three additional pictures uploaded today showing the difference between stock OEM silver/metal and the refinished up for auction here. Also, 15 to 18 pounds is the range of torque.
@Maxoverdrive @Maxoverdrive. Yes, they are much different next to factory color, I can get a picture uploaded today next to an extra OEM wheel I have in the garage. Great question on proper torque, had a similar issue with a set of Kinesis 3 piece that had to be re-torqued. I never put them back onto the car, would absolutely suggest having the torque checked, something I did not consider a few years ago but would after running into the issue with the Kinesis for my 928 GT around 6 months ago. I believe the proper torque is 15 pounds, can confirm before the auction end.
@Abuong01
Great looking set of wheels. Are the wheels noticeably grey when sitting side by factory finish? Actually prefer the grey( my car is silver). Also do you feel confident the painter assembled properly with torque specs? Have seen issues with tires leaking down when factory wheel has been disassembled and put back together. Thank you for your time. Glwa
Thank you for viewing these beautiful OEM Porsche BBS SportDesign 996 wheels. I had these on my 2001 996 equipped with the factory Aero Package that came standard with the 18' BBS wheels made in Germany. I decided to have curb rash corrected along with having the wheels powder-coated in a very light gray (not the original metal/silver factory look) with a clear coat to help combat the challenge of keeping brake dust from sticking. These wheels are a challenge to clean by hand! They are 3 piece wheels, expensive to repair and powder-coat and took nearly 6 weeks end to end. I placed a set of BBS wheel on the car in the interim and really liked the way it looked with the black paint and slightly darker BBS wheels and never went back. The wheels were never used and stayed in boxes in the garage until this past week when I pulled them and several other sets out to let someone else enjoy. Please ask questions or hit the Contact Seller button for more information. These wheels will also fit 993 without modification.
