Manufactured in Liverpool by the Briggs Automotive Company, the street-legal BAC Mono is a super lightweight single-seater sports car offering unadulterated performance to rival some of the most extreme track-only race cars. The ultimate Mono R version debuted in 2019 equipped with a more powerful 2.5L Mountune Racing engine and lighter graphene-enhanced carbon fiber bodywork lending to an astonishing power-to-weight ratio of 0.461 kW/kg. This 2021 example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Colorado with just over 40 miles showing on the odometer.

The Mono is constructed around a TIG-welded seamless tube steel driver safety cell featuring a carbon fiber crash box and an FIA-compliant rollover protection system. Compared to the original Mono, the R version features revised graphene-enhanced super light carbon composite low-drag bodywork with a 25mm increase in length and a 20mm reduction in overall height. This example is finished in grey with an exposed 2x2 carbon twill. Equipment includes dual mirrors, LED lights, exposed pushrod suspension, an F3-style carbon fiber ram air intake, an integrated rear spoiler, a rear diffuser, titanium tow eyes, dual center-mounted tailpipes, a locking billet aluminum fuel cap, and 17” Dymag carbon fiber wheels dressed in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires. The seller indicates the cart has not seen any time on the road apart from its factory test drive.

The exposed carbon fiber cockpit features waterproof suede upholstery and grey stitching. Currently, there is no seat installed, although a $7,950 credit at BAC will be transferred to the buyer to have a seat fitted to them by the factory. The driver is provided with an FIA-compliant safety harness and a quick-release 290mm carbon fiber steering wheel with a billet aluminum housing, illuminated switch gear, pneumatic paddle shifters, and a GEMS LDS4 color display. Other features include a remote battery charge socket, AP Racing cockpit-adjustable brake bias, an electronic parking brake, an adjustable AP Racing pedal box, and a BAC-developed cockpit aero screen.

Co-developed with engine partner Mountune, the BAC Mono R is powered by a Ford Duratec-based 2.5-liter inline-four engine with forged pistons and connecting rods, a billet crankshaft, a lightweight titanium 4-into-1 exhaust, and a gas-flowed cylinder head with individual butterfly port throttles. Up to 343 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a lightweight magnesium Hewland FTR 6-speed sequential transmission and a Powerflow limited-slip differential. The suspension includes adjustable pushrod double-wishbone suspension with two-way adjustable Öhlins dampers, lightweight billet aluminum uprights, and Eibach racing springs. Stopping power comes from AP Racing Formula Car 4-piston brake calipers paired with Surface Transforms carbon ceramic discs. The seller notes that the remote key is not always recognized by the car and the issue may need to be addressed.

This BAC Mono R is offered with a bill of sale.

This is a track car,and I bet a total blast to drive. The “street” designation might get you into HPDE or SCCA Tracknight. Just my opinion of course not gunna try and drive it home from Co 🤣.

if you can actually drive- this car will prove it on a track day. Taking cars like this around COTA is a real 'do you have the stones' type introspection opportunity. I've been lucky enough to drive a few monos- and at COTA, Thermal, Willow Springs and INDE ranch down in AZ. If you can drive, you'll drive circles around everyone in a road car.

@Sodo-moto I'm not about to get into a pissing match with you over Federal law. And I'm not about to invest $200K in a car and then another $100k on attorneys fees fighting the interpretation of said laws with the Feds and perhaps the State DMV where I'd like to title and register it. Federal law DOES NOT supercede State law. I stand by my comment even if IMYV. Import Docs are a must see.

@TheVintageCarGuy Many allowances out there. And lots of room to read the rules from the viewpoint of, 'You can't do that(!!)'.

From the Low-Volume Mfg. documentation there is reference to 49 U.S.C. 30102(a)(7) - note the use of the term 'primarily'.

"The Safety Act defines a motor vehicle as a vehicle driven or drawn by mechanical power and manufactured primarily for use on public streets, roads, and highways."

    YMMV.

With no Title, going to need to see copies of the import documents to know under what status the NTHSA designated this vehicle and allowed import. Having 4 wheels, this is a car as far as they are concerned, and as such, will need to meet ALL safety requirements, which I do not think this can, before registering for road use. I don't see any 5 MPH bumpers for one thing. No windshield wipers (barely a windshield) Don't think the rear lights have enough surface area lighted. My guess is this was allowed in for Non-highway use, display only. If you have Import docs please post pics.
