Named for a famous turnpike in Japan, the Hakone Edition is a limited design package for Toyota’s 86 featuring a unique paint color, tan leather/suede interior trim, premium amenities, and special badging. This one-owner 2020 example shows under 5k miles on the odometer and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
This special edition is distinguished by its own “Hakone Green” paint color, black rear spoiler, and 17” bronze-colored wheels which have been preserved separately while the car currently rides on aftermarket chrome rims. Modifications include red caliper covers and gold “Hakone” decals on the front fenders along with a matching racing stripe on top. The seller adds that the car has been stored beneath a cover in a climate-controlled garage, additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the driver is greeted by a pair of bucket seats trimmed in tan leather with black microsuede centers and contrast stitching throughout the cabin. An “86” logo is embroidered on the dash and the Hakone Edition comes standard with dual-zone climate control, heated seats, a leather folio cover, and all accessories included at the GT trim level. This example has been modified with aftermarket wood trim accents and WeatherTech floor liners.
A 2.0-liter FA20 boxer four-cylinder engine provides up to 205 HP and 156 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. The CARFAX report shows a safety/emissions inspection passed in April 2022 and the seller states an oil change may be due soon.
This sale will include a clean title, car cover, and the original owner’s manuals.
The seller would like you to know: “Belonged to an 80-year-old man who no longer drives after some health issues. It is very well cared for and was only driven only for 2 summers in nice weather. Never seen rain, snow, or any bad weather. The special edition really makes the car, it's a beautiful and rare package known as the Hakone Edition.”

Belonged to an “80 year old man”?? Seriously impressed! Though not quite as much as would be if car were a manual. But still!
@larrygk It's light and tight. Surprisingly quick, and a lot of fun to drive. A real crowd stopper. Trying to take the pictures, people kept stopping asking what kind of car is that! Lots of compliments .
Great looking car. Never heard of this model before. Not a knock but given the sportiness of this model surprised it doesn't have a few more HP. GLWA.
