He should leave it unlocked in Atlanta, lol!
His Insurance Carrier is Chubb Insurance.
@Dg1963, I know the seller has it insured for 140K in Georgia. I cant speak to California laws or insurance quidlines I can tell you that all of the Manufacture Buy-Back cars are sold through the factory wholesale auctions in California and typically bring 90% of the market value.
to the buyer, check with your insurance company to see what value they will put on a buy back, branded/salvage title vehicle. in california, many companies will only insure up to approx 50-60% of the value of a clean title vehicle. 20-30 years down the road, the branded title may not matter...now it will definitely affect value
@aamirretiwalla, yes there are banks that will without issue but it depends on your bank.
would this buy back/ branded title qualify for financing?
@Tlrueff, I can speak personally to just selling a 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera S Widebody Manual Coupe that sold for $160K that was a Buy Back. I persoanlly think that as time goes on that it doesnt matter as much.
@Razyus77, I am willing to complete the transaction however its most advantagous for the Buyer. Really doesnt matter to me whiuch way we do it.
As an owner of a 991.2 Targa 4 GTS, it is truly the best of all worlds and a phenomenal drivers car. Beautiful example - GLWTS
@AutoXperts just to make sure we are on the same page because it makes a big difference on our state's registration fees: are you, as dealer on the title and you will sell it to the buyer, or the owner will sell it straight to the buyer?
Bid in the amount of $80,000
Anyone have any estimates to what extent a buyback title will harm the long-term value of the car, as a collectible?

@Tpvigens, PCAR is a very reputable Auction house and has sold thousands of cars. There are ways to have the car inspected but I’m not sure time will permit. I do have warranties available if you are interested I can look into those for you.
How trustworthy are these auctions? This is the first time that I’ve ever gone through 1 is this pretty reputable? Also, is there a way to get the car looked at if you’re out of state I know the auction is short on this one now however is there any guarantees that come with vehicles that you purchase?
This is a phenomenal car. I’ve been fortunate enough to drive it and it is amazing. There are great aftermarket warranties that service cars of this caliber. The new owner will have many years driving an amazing car.

@Rcain, DRVOFI , Im not sure if it qualifies for a Porsche extended Warranty However I do know it will qualify for 3rd Party Extended Warranties that Porsche Dealerships will honor.
@razyus77, it is represented by the dealer and the buyers order will reflect that.
Is this car sold by a dealer or a private party?
Basically, who will the seller be on the BOS?
Following up on another's question. Would this car qualify for extended warranty with Porsche or is it currently under any warranty?
@Philip61 crap happens even under the best of circumstances, what matters is how it gets cleaned up and in this case it appears Porsche stepped up to make it right. Will it impact the gavel price? Perhaps a bit, but it won’t yield buyers remorse, this buyer will drive away for quite awhile with a great big smile on their face

Would this car qualify for a Porsche extended warranty? I am on my 4th Porsche and never heard of a blown turbo...or a buy back.
Respectfully submitted.

@philip61, in the spirit of dialing back the rhetoric, A blown turbo is NOT a catastrophic failure. Its an unfortunate issue that was taken care of by Porsche under factory warranty. We have no idea as to why the customer would have Porsche Buy the car back after this warranty issue. Warranty claims happen all of the time with every manufacturer. It appears that MOST Manufacturer Buy Backs are with High end vehicles and in my opinion are for many reasons. I agree there are no buy back programs for "Remorse" but I think alot of people would agree that plays a role in deciding not to keep a car after an issue arises that clearly was fixed by Porsche, Under warranty and the vehicle contuned to have warranty for 4 more years and 49K miles with NO other issues.
White smoke and a blown turbo are far from buyers remorse. There is no buyback program for "Remorse" A Blown turbo at 453 miles that's called a catastrophic failure!!!!!
Bid in the amount of $14,500
Bid in the amount of $9,912
@seller thank you for the clarification. I agree this is appears to be an immaculate car so it had me scratching my head.
Hope for the best result as these are truly incredible cars!
@2s2KS, According to Goldcrest Motorsports One of the Turbos was replaced. The Carfax States it was bought back by Porsche at 435 miles due to "White Smoke" . Thats about as transparent as I can get. From my experience most Buy-Backs are a result of Buyers Remorse when an issue arises and its done for customer satisfaction. Most Buy-Backs also happen in California due to their state's comprehensive law which allows consumers to recover legal costs, incentivizing both individuals and lawyers to pursue claims. Although its unfortunate that it happened to the Vehicles history this is a very nice, well optioned Original paint 991.2 Targa GTS.
You are making this mechanical issue sound too simple. That’s not how buy back programs work. Please be more transparent.
Regards,
Happy owner of a 991.2 targa GTS
@PaulGri, it was a mechanical issue that happened at approximately 250 miles and was repaired by Porsche Cars NA. Carfax shows that history. The car had full warranty after the mechanical repair and has zero issues since.
What was the issue that led to the branded title?
