Compared to a standard Audi A5, the RS5 variants feature wider fenders, a more aggressive front fascia, a honeycomb grille, side skirts, and a black rear diffuser with dual exhaust outlets. This RS5 Sportback is finished in Nardo Grey complemented by the Black Optic Package, which adds high-gloss black exterior trim, mirror housings, and 20” 5-arm-flag design forged wheels in a bicolor finish. The Dynamic Package also adds red brake calipers and black exhaust tips. Other equipment includes LED headlights and taillights, auto-dimming power-folding mirrors, parking sensors, a rearview camera, an electric sunroof, and a power liftgate. The car rides on Hankook Ventus S1 Evo2 tires showing date codes from 2019 and 2020. Some small paint touch-ups are noted on the door handles and bumpers. The CARFAX report shows the last service entry at Audi and Porsche of Southampton, New York, in August 2023, which includes four new tires. The seller also notes that recent service to address a coolant temperature warning included the replacement of the water pump, thermostat, vacuum pump, vacuum hose assembly with solenoid valve, vacuum reservoir, and serpentine belts.

Welcome back to the auction on this 2019 Audi RS5! Apologies for having to withdraw and postpone the auction last month, but there was some service that needed to be done before we could proceed with finding this car a new owner. As mentioned before we were trying to record a POV drive video for the car and we had a coolant temperature warning.
These engines use a mechanical clutch on the water pump that is vacuum actuated and when the internal seal fails, the system aspirates coolant into the vacuum lines. Coolant residue was found in all of the replaced vacuum components and everything was on the shelf at the local dealership as this is a known issue that has been addressed by a redesigned water pump. Ultimately, coolant residue makes its way into the clutch actuating vacuum solenoid, gums it up and does not allow it to provide vacuum to actuate the clutch on the water pump.
Thankfully, the engine has two additional water pumps that are electric and are able to support the majority of the cooling required. A warning light came on the dash stating to pull over and wait for the temperature to lower. The water temperature gauge reached 2/3rds of range when the event happened. We are thankful that this was caught while we still have the car and not after the sale.
This issue has since been resolved with the replacement of the water pump, thermostat, vacuum pump, vacuum reservoir, vacuum line assembly with solenoid valve, serpentine belts, and a coolant flush were performed to the vehicle to ensure the next owner will not have any headaches with the cooling system in their new car.
