A factory race car purpose-built for the Porsche Supercup series, the 991.2 GT3 Cup features composite bodywork, a motorsports-focused cockpit, and a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six connected to a pneumatically activated 6-speed sequential gearbox. This 2018 example comes equipped with a factory-installed Bosch ABS M5 System, an OMP HTE-R XL racing seat, an iceless Chillout Systems Quantum Cooler, an FEV fire suppression system, air jacks, and an integrated Racelogic VBOX Video HD2 video data logging system. Accompanied by a log book showing the most recent race at Lime Rock Park in April 2024, this GT3 Cup is now being offered for auction out of New York with just 110.5 hours of time on the motor and 31.5 hours on the transaxle.

Finished in White with contrasting red mirrors, this GT3 Cup wears lightweight bodywork including carbon fiber reinforced plastic doors, carbon fiber reinforced plastic rear lid with quick-release catches, carbon fiber reinforced plastic adjustable rear wing, polycarbonate rear side windows with air outlets and polycarbonate rear screen. Other features include integrated tow hooks, a NACA-ducted hood, a ram-air engine cover, hood and decklid pins, an emergency cutoff switch, a roof escape hatch, dual center-mounted exhaust pipes, and 18” Forgeline center-lock wheels dressed in Pirelli P Zero racing slicks. The seller notes that the tires have gone through 5 heat cycles and two additional sets of wheels are included in the sale. The rear quarter panels were recently refinished, and paintwork is said to have been performed on the front end to address superficial damage in 2023. The seller adds that the paint shows well with a few issues including an abrasion on the driver's side edge of the hood, driver's mirror, and driver's door handle. There is minor damage to the black plastic rear valance on the passenger side of the car. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The stripped-out racing cockpit includes a fully integrated roll cage, a black Airtex-upholstered OMP HTE-R XL driver’s seat, a red Schroth 6-point safety harness, carbon fiber door panels, and a carbon fiber center control panel. Other equipment includes a flat-bottom quick-release Alcantara steering wheel, an adjustable steering column, a Porsche-Cosworth Omega Intelligent Colour Display, FEV FX G-TEC fire suppression system, an iceless Chillout Systems Quantum Cooler, FluidLogic Wave hydration system, and an integrated Racelogic VBOX Video HD2 data logger with 2 HD cameras. Interior imperfections include wear around the steering wheel, delaminating carbon fiber roll bar protection, and scuffs on the painted portion of the driver's footwell.

This GT3 Cup is equipped with a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter 9A1.5 flat-six engine that delivers up to 485 HP and 354 lb.-ft of torque through a pneumatically activated 6-speed sequential gearbox and a limited-slip differential. The seller states an up-to-date log book is included dating back to 10/24/19 with the most recent event at Lime Rock Park in April 2024. The logbook also shows that the car was raced at Daytona, Sebring, Virginia International Raceway, Watkins Glen International Raceway, and Carolina. Recent service includes new brake pads, a brake fluid flush, and new motor and transaxle fluid. A Blackstone oil analysis is also provided. The engine has 110.5 hours of running time while the Porsche Motorsport North America (PMNA) sealed replacement transaxle has 31.5 hours.

This GT3 Cup is offered with a car cover, two additional sets of wheels, and a bill of sale.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for participating in this auction for a 2018 Porsche GT3 CUP (991.2). While I have not had the opportunity to drive this particular car, I work with a race team where it has been raced recently and successfully. It's a well-maintained GT3 CUP that has had no major incidents with an excellent, trauma-free tub. The 991.2 Cup has proven to be a paradigm of reliability and durability. Many teams report strong motors in excess of 200 hours.  With only 110 hours, recent oil analysis suggests that the motor and transaxle have a lot of life in them. This GT3 Cup looks very good and it's a car you can be proud of in any paddock. With the factory-optioned ABS, Chillout System, and VBOX you have a fun and versatile platform to race or DE with for years to come. This GT3 CUP is ready to go and only needs a willing driver. Comment or private message me and I'll get back to you quickly. Please come see this car in Nyack, NY. I'm looking forward to chatting with you.”

would really encourage buyers to rebuild the engine asap so you can focus on a LOT of fun runtime without the downtime of waiting for PMNA to get the engine back. If you're in a warm weather state, these are amazing enduro cars for NASA race weekends to complement use in PCA sprint stuff or just normal track days. The newer Yokohama tires are good for a few hours per set which is better than the stuff we ran in 17-18 in these cars.

The cup cars are really a whole different game than a GT3 street car on track.

I just received a private message about shipping and I thought I should share. I can help arrange enclosed transport anywhere in the continental USA with expert drivers that are accustomed to cars like this GT3 Cup. Thank you

That should give the next owner a lot of run time before attending to any major maintenance, if I remember correctly the engine doesn’t register any time under 4000 RPM.

@Lexday47 I just received documentation from the previous owner of this GT3 Cup. When he bought the car in May of 2022 it had only 10 hours on a sealed Porsche Motorsport North America transaxle. At the time of purchase the GT3 CUP had 89 hours on the motor and there is no evidence to suggest the motor was replaced in the life of the car. We can then assume that the transaxle was replaced with a sealed PMNA unit and now has 31.5 hours on it. The 2022 bill of sale including the note on the sealed replacement transaxle will be uploaded by @pcarmarket later this morning. The history of the car makes more sense in light of the recently uncovered documentation. Thank you.

@Lexday47 Good points all around and thank you for adding to the conversation. There is evidence to suggest that the transaxle was serviced but we can't confirm it at this time (though I'm currently tracking down the previous teams/drivers). We see that the axles were replaced and there is a newer filter, all are good evidence for a transaxle service. That and the transaxle oil analysis shows lower levels of nickel in the sample suggesting the internals aren't wearing excessively. The car is working well and there is nothing to indicate a problem. The next driver may consider having it inspected at the end of the season.

We've seen these motors go well over 200-hours without issue. And I agree, this a great package with the Bosch M5 ABS. It's a tremendous confidence booster.

110 hours is way over time for a gearbox rebuild which is recommended by PMNA at 60 hours, however with an am driver I have seen these engines run successfully up to 140-150 hours but factory recommendations are 100 hours. That being considered these Cup cars are fun, fast, and forgiving to race plus this car has ABS which makes it easier to control.

  • paddock.club (seller) 4 months, 4 weeksago

@zbb0730 Thank you for catching the error! It's 110.5 hours on the transaxle and motor, to be exact. I'll have @pcarmarket make the correction.

  • zbb0730 (registered bidder) 4 months, 4 weeksago

How many hours on the motor/drive train? Says 10 in one area and 110 in another.??
