The third generation Porsche Cayman was introduced as the "718" at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show featuring an all-new turbocharged flat-four engine. This 2017 example was designated as a 718 Launch Model and comes finished in Agate Grey Metallic over a matching interior and was optioned Premium Package Plus, Power Sport Seats, 20” Carrera S wheels, BOSE Surround Sound System, and a 7-speed PDK transmission paired with its 350 HP engine. Remaining with its original owner, this Cayman S is now being offered for auction out of Massachusetts while showing approximately 11k miles on the odometer.
The styling of the 718 was an evolution of its predecessor including revised headlights, bumpers, and mirrors as well as a black trim piece spanning between the taillights. This Cayman S is finished in Agate Grey Metallic and is distinguishable as an “S” model by its red-painted brake calipers and dual central exhaust outlets. Other equipment includes a speed-activated rear spoiler, side air intakes, and optional 20” Carrera S wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. Bi-Xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) are also included with the optional Premium Package Plus. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Agate Grey interior includes 14-way Power Sport Seats as well as Premium Package Plus (P9D) which adds front seat heating and ventilation, auto-dimming mirrors, the Light Design Package, and Porsche Entry & Drive. Other options include Lane Change Assist (LCA), a heated multifunction steering wheel, Porsche Connect Plus, BOSE Surround Sound System, and Navigation Module for Porsche Communication Management (PCM). The seller indicates minimal signs of wear on the carpet floor mats.
Up to 350 HP comes from a turbocharged 2.5-liter flat-four engine that drives the rear wheels by way of a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH takes place in approximately 4 seconds with a top speed of 180 MPH. The seller notes that routine maintenance has been completed according to schedule and an oil change is due soon.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, the original window sticker, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “I've owned this car since new, garage-stored, never smoked in or driven in winter. Completely stock, very clean, exterior has no flaws”.

@Gopherbroke yes service records are available just routine work no issues have come up that have required repairs
@steve72 yes both are original
@steve72 Not a whole lot of early warning. For the most part the vehicle will not go into gear, either reverse or drive.
Jim Clark, good information to know. Any signs that the gear distance sensor is about to fail? What happens when it does?
@lacewoodbaylee A small percentage of PDK transmissions have failed because of electronic failures; almost never because of mechanical issues (clutches, or gears). The most common failure is the gear distance sensor, an internal electronic part that can be replaced replaced in about 12hrs, but Porsche deemed not profitable enough to undertake at dealerships. When a PDK vehicle is under warranty, Porsche dealerships will replace the whole transmission as standard operating procedure; that does not mean the transmission is worthless or "toast." When a PDK vehicle is out of warranty, most Porsche dealerships charge anywhere from 15K to 20K for a "new" (most likely remanufactured) PDK transmission. There are at least three to four good independent shops across the US replacing PDK distance sensors for around 8K to 9K. Keep in mind Porsche does not offer replacement PDK distance sensors at all to the public or independent mechanics. The ones available were developed by aftermarket vendors and are somewhat overpriced at around 2K. In my opinion, it is a simple electronic part that shouldn't cost more than $500. C'est la vie. I hope this helps. By the way, I own a 2009 C2S 911 PDK with 69K miles, no transmission issues whatsoever.
tires and battery original?

@sdipalma Any service records available? Nothing listed on the Carfax.
@lacewoodbaylee No issues with the PDK at all, it's a great tranny. I miss shifting gears, except for all the traffic around here

Wish i was still living in Maine. My wife is from Mass. Would definitely come and take a real close look at your car. Ever had any issues with the PDK ? Well known for problems. Not that you should have had any with only 11k miles. Porsche will just replace the tranny; not worth rebuilding. Love the car. Good luck with the auction !!!

@donspaulding; two keys, no paintwork done. Paint/exterior in general is in good shape, no door dings, wheels are like new
@Classicrock; I believe holes would show. Front plates required in MA, would look better without but they do ticket for it
Hello Steve,
Beautiful car! Is the front license plate bracket screwed into the front bumper so that holes would show if removed?
Thanks
Two keys?
Any paintwork?
Thanks.
Thanks, it draws its share of positive looks/comments, it does look good and perhaps because it's less common than 911s
I actually bought it new but off the lot in Nov '17, so didn't have the opportunity to choose options
Beautiful car! Curious why you didn’t option the Sports Chrono?

Hi all, Steve here, I'm excited to share the pictures and description of my Cayman S.
Great car, it's incredibly fun to drive, wish I had another garage bay to keep it next to my new 911
Look forward to hearing from anyone who might have an interest, happy to answer any questions you might have
