Paying homage to the classic British motorcycles of the 1960s, the Triumph Thruxton R offers a cafe racer-style motorcycle designed to blend retro aesthetics with modern performance and technology. Powered by a 1,200cc parallel-twin engine renowned for its torque-rich character, this 2016 example comes finished in its current shade of green with black-finished accents. Tastefully customized by Madhouse Motors, this one-owner Thruxton R is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Massachusetts while showing just under 3k miles on the odometer.
The Thruxton R showcases Triumph’s modern interpretation of the classic café racer, featuring a sculpted fuel tank, classic round headlamp, minimalistic bodywork, and a distinctive rear cowl. This example comes finished in its current shade of green with black-finished accents. The 32-spoke 17” wheels have been powder coated in black and mounted with Bridgestone Battleaxe tires from 2018. Additional modifications include an upgraded LED headlight, powder-coated fork lowers and triple trees, windshield tint, a black-finished engine case, and an aftermarket tan leather seat. The seller adds that a New Rage Cycles plate kit has also been installed.
Power is derived from a 1,200cc 8-valve parallel twin engine known for its torque-rich character. Equipment includes upgraded 490 Series rear shocks, Showa front piston forks, Brembo 4-piston brake calipers, Automatic Braking System, variable ride modes tuned for Rain, Road, and Sport, switchable traction control, and a twin exhaust system. The seller adds that new wheel bearings have been professionally mounted and balanced.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a cover, and an extra seat.
The seller would like you to know: “An absolute head-turner of a custom bike. Extremely comfortable riding position while maintaining a very aggressive stance and look.”

Hi @adamjshaw we will absolutely help with assisting the delivery company that the buyer chooses. We will also document the bike within a 30-minute window of the bike being physically loaded onto the shipping truck (in case any damages happen in transport.) Aside from that, we will wrap the bike in protective plastic to help assure no scratches or debris accumulation while it makes its way to its destination.
Thanks!
Hi @dudestroke I just spoke to the customer. Both he and I don't know what the scratches may be from. Possibly from the bike being parked too close to the cinderblock wall in the garage. I also have the stock pipes that will be getting sold with the bike. About it being registered in California, I don't know much about state-to-state stipulations, but I don't see why this would have any trouble! All the paper work is fine and clean. See the image I'm attached next for the stock exhaust. Thank you!
@madhouse_motors can you confirm if you can assist with delivery logistics? Not familiar with shipping bikes.
Also can you tell me if this is good to go registering in California? Thanks!
@Madhouse_Motors There looks to be scratches on the left exhaust. Can you tell me more about this?
J does top notch work and provides excellent customer service. I volunteered at Madhouse a few years back during my college days and I was so impressed with J's work ethic and the quality of work coming out of Madhouse. This Thruxton looks like just another example of that. GLWA J!!

@artichoke Hi there!
We removed both wheels and fully disassembled them to be powder coated. To power coat properly, all the wheel bearings need to be removed and new once’s reinstalled. This is what we did along with re-spoking and truing the wheels, as well as properly balancing the rims. Also, to answer a few of the other questions; this year is fuel injected, and the paint is a custom paint job be DeLeos. This was only for cosmetic upgrades! The bike was never crashed. Once the client knicked the mirror and bar end on something (a very small scratch which is photographed and posted)
Hopefully this answered your questions! Let me know if you have any others! Thanks!

Fuel injected or carburetors?
Curious about "The seller adds that new wheel bearings have been professionally mounted and balanced." Why was this done? Was there an issue with the original wheels and bearings in only 2,700miles? Are the original wheels included and if so, what are they? Is this the original paint or was the bike repainted in green? Has the bike ever been dropped? Thanks, Bob
