A high-performance track-oriented version of the 981 Porsche Cayman, the original GT4 was introduced for the 2016 model year, featuring a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter engine, a fixed rear wing, lowered PASM sport suspension, GT3-derived brakes, a 6-speed manual transmission, and a limited-slip differential with Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV). Finished in Racing Yellow over Black leather and Alcantara, this example equips optional carbon fiber bucket seats, aluminum pedals, an extended-range fuel tank, silver-painted wheels, and more. Showing less than 29k miles on the odometer, this GT4 is now being offered for auction out of Texas.

Based on the 981 Cayman, the GT4 features a unique front fascia with a prominent lip spoiler, larger air intakes, side air scoops, and a rear diffuser housing dual center-mounted tailpipes. This example is finished in Racing Yellow and includes an optional model designation delete, black wing supports, and silver-painted 20” GT4 wheels. The paint was refinished to factory specifications at Porsche Certified Avondale Collision in Grapevine, Texas. The seller notes that the wing extension can be removed by unbolting and that the car has been used for HPDE events. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin presents Black partial leather and Alcantara upholstery with Platinum Grey stitching. Optional equipment includes carbon fiber bucket seats, aluminum pedals & footrest, carbon fiber floor mats with leather edging, a passenger footwell luggage net, and deletion of the CDR Audiosystem.

Power comes from a mid-mounted 3.8-liter flat-six engine, reportedly rebuilt at BGB Motorsports in Florida approximately 8k miles ago. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission, which is said to have been replaced within the last 100 miles. Standard performance features include a limited-slip differential, Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), and active transmission mounts. An extended-range fuel tank (16.91 gal) was also selected, and GiroDisc brakes with slotted rotors have been fitted. Modifications include Tarett Engineering front & rear drop links, rear Heim joints, and brake caliper bolt kit, along with a BMC filter upgrade, Soul Performance Stage 1 competition headers, and a Softronic ECU tune. The CARFAX report shows 24 service history entries.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, and service records.

The seller would like you to know: “Service and upgrades documented by Fifth Gear Autosports are provided in the gallery. This example was never raced competitively; it was used only for high-performance driver education (HPDE) events.”

@Sylverlee I only use Fifth gear

  • Sylverlee (registered bidder) 21 hours, 22 minutesago

    Thanks for that info.

I'm curious what happened with the trans? I know there was a common failure on these but they were always replaced by the Porsche Dealer. This was for a different reason I'm guessing, which is why it was done at Fifth Gear?

@Sylverlee All the paint is factory original and metered around 7 to 8 mils the right front fender metered between 11 and 13 most likely due to additional clear coat.

@sc166 I just posted pictures of the DME results all high over range happened around 121 hours which was the previous owners. My engine rebuild was many hours after these occurrences.

@BillyBob I bought the car with the bar on it already so I'm not sure if it is OEM or aftermarket however there are a couple on eBay in the $700 range and new ones run in the $1500 range from Competition Motorsports Best regards, John

Hello, I was wondering if you could tell me from what company is the nice harness bar and what model is it? I want one, too. ;-) Looks awesome Thanks

Do you have a DME report? Thanks!

  • jcioch (seller) 2 days, 3 hoursago

A report was not pulled but the good news was that the weak link in the engine was the aluminum cam shaft adjuster bolts that sheered. And the engine was rebuilt and replaced with Steel bolts so this problem will not repeat.

Thanks John. Also pretty sure it will get asked soon, but Overrev report available?

  • jcioch (seller) 2 days, 4 hoursago

@Sylverlee Yes the paint is all factory original except for the front bumper and right fender which were painted to Porsche specifications. All work was performed by Avondale Collision a Porsche certified body and paint shop. Avondale group owns Porsche and Mercedes of Grapevine and all interconnected. The car metal areas can be metered but since the bumper is plastic it will not accurately show the mil thickness. I can take the readings tomorrow and post. Best regards John Cioch

So is the paint all original on all other areas of the body other than the front bumper (from the raccoon)? Can you paint meter it?

@jb9573 I also attached the Transmission receipt from Fifth Gear Autosports.

  • jcioch (seller) 4 days, 6 hoursago

@smlobx the Porsche spec Aluminum camshaft bolts sheered which is a common problem with these engines. BGB rebuilt the engine to Porsche specs except they used Steel bolts. I attached the BGB receipt. Also attached is the Porsche transmission replacement. Best regards John

Why was the motor rebuilt by BGB? Was it rebuilt to factory specs or were there any “improvements”? Can you share any receipts? Thanks.

  • jcioch (seller) 4 days, 17 hoursago

The front end had moderate damage when it hit a raccoon. For some reason the Carfax report did not reflect this. Fifth Gear believes the bearing failed which caused the transmission failure. A brand new Porsche transmission was replaced.

I'll bite. What are the stories with the paint being refinished to factory specifications and the replacement transmission 100 miles ago?
