Based on the road-going Cayman GT4, the GT4 Clubsport was engineered as a purpose-built race car equipped with a modified 6-speed PDK transmission with steering wheel-mounted shift paddles, a racing-specific rear-axle locking differential, and electromechanical power steering. Braking is handled by 380mm steel rotors paired with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, along with adjustable ABS and a race-optimized Electronic Stability Programme. This 2016 example has been further modified with Fabspeed headers, Dundon exhaust components, and a GT3 center muffler. Reported to have been previously campaigned by the former owner in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the vehicle was acquired by the seller in 2021 and utilized for track days, driver education events, and two NASA-sanctioned races at Eagles Canyon Raceway in Texas. Maintained by Wheel to Wheel (W2W) Racing throughout current ownership, this GT4 Clubsport is now being offered for auction out of Texas with approximately 8k miles showing on the odometer.

Factory-finished in White, this GT4 Clubsport has been customized with removable vinyl racing livery to enhance its track-focused presence. Compared to the standard 981 Cayman, the GT4 features a vented front bumper with larger radiator grilles, a lower lip spoiler, side air intake scoops, a rear diffuser, and a larger rear wing. Additional racing features include quick-release fasteners for the front and rear hoods. It rides on factory 18” forged aluminum Clubsport wheels. Two extra sets of the factory wheels are said to accompany the sale. Minor signs of road wear are noted, and detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The interior is stripped for weight savings and features an integrated FIA-specification roll cage. This example is equipped with a Recaro bucket seat, an Alcantara-wrapped flat-bottom steering wheel with carbon fiber paddle shifters, carbon fiber door panels, Schroth safety harnesses, a fire suppression system, power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, and a central carbon fiber switch panel.

Powering the Cayman GT4 Clubsport is a 3.8-liter dry-sump flat-six engine paired with a 6-speed PDK racing transmission and a locking differential. This setup delivers 385 HP to the rear wheels, enabling a 0-60 MPH time of approximately 3.8 seconds and a top speed exceeding 180 MPH. Factory performance features include Performance Friction (PFC) brakes, an adjustable Bosch 12-step Porsche Motorsport ABS module, a 70-liter FT3 fuel cell, and a Krontec air jack system with the originally supplied wand and jacks. The exhaust system has been updated with Fabspeed headers, Dundon side muffler deletes, and an OEM GT3 center muffler. Additionally, the seller states this vehicle has been thoroughly maintained by  Wheel to Wheel (W2W) Racing since their acquisition.

This Clubsport is offered with a bill of sale, owner’s manuals, and race logs.

The seller would like you to know: “The GT4 Clubsport is very well maintained. In top shape. Always garage. All service is done. This is a great car for beginner racers or somebody who wants to get into racing or hard-core track days without the expense of a cop car or something similar. This car is very forgiving for a novice, racecar driver, or somebody looking to step up from a streetcar into something more serious. Once you drive this car on the track, a real race car, you will never go back to driving a streetcar on the track.”

@MattShaw @MattShawThank you for the questions!

As far as I know, the suspension is in excellent working condition and the car handles like a go-kart. It was serviced by Wheel2Wheel, and no issues with the strut towers were noted during inspection.

Regarding incidents or repairs—nothing major. As is typical in racing, there’s occasional contact. The most notable was a front-end clip incident that required a new radiator and front bumper fascia. Beyond that, no significant damage or repairs.

I don’t have the exact spring rates on hand, but I’m happy to try and get that info for you if needed. Let me know if you’d like any specific photos or details—I’ll do my best to get them for you.

    Thanks again for your interest!

@Mclark661 @Mclark661Yes, you can install a passenger race seat. The OEM mounting points are still intact, so it’s a straightforward bolt-in. The CoolShirt system currently occupies that space, but there are smaller and more compact cooler options available from CoolShirt Systems if you want to retain driver cooling with a passenger seat installed.

How difficult would it be to install a passenger seat? I assume this means no more Cool Shirt.

Very nice example. Are there any known incidents requiring repairs? Do you know the spring rates? Status of the strut towers? Thank you for the info.

@rafarafols Understood, hence my interest. Mine is no longer a street car, kinda halfway to a Clubsport already. Just trying to gauge the gap, and if I should be looking more to a 718 Clubsport. Thanks for the feedback, and GLWTA. I'll use the "contact seller" if I have further questions.

@jmorin HUGE difference in lap consistency--lighter weight, insane handling and the safety of a factory caged care with fire suppression. Very important when you are pushing hard...

  • jmorin (registered bidder) 1 day, 19 hoursago

@rafarafols Ok, thanks. I'm running a modified street 981 GT4 up there so I was wondering if the difference was worth the upgrade. I'll look up the event for reference.

@jmorin Honestly, don't recall the time. But I qualified P4 in Super Unlimited that weekend. Lots of fast dudes there, Chris Coffey in a Maserati GT fast AF. It should be posted in the lap timer page for that event (I think Feb of 2022 NASA event/ Not bad for my first time at that track. As far as COTA <2;20 all day and likely 2;17 w pro or better.

Very nice and competitive track car. Have seen it at COTA and Eagles Canyon. Fast and tracks super! well maintained.

  • jmorin (registered bidder) 1 day, 23 hoursago

What kind of laptimes is this turning at ECR?
