The first 911 to wear the “R” badge in nearly half a century, the 2016 Porsche 911R channels the characteristics of Porsche’s original lightweight racing 911. Arguably the purest and most unadulterated modern Porsche, the 911R is based on the GT3 RS and features a 6-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, a lightweight interior, ceramic brakes, and classic exterior livery. This example is one of 991 produced in total and just a few to have come factory finished in Racing Yellow. It was optioned with extended leather and deviated stitching, air conditioning, PCM, the front axle lift system, and a single-mass flywheel. This unique and highly collectible Porsche is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California showing just over 9,500 miles.
The 911R features a hood and front fenders molded from carbon fiber along with a lightweight magnesium roof panel which is shared with the GT3 RS in addition to its bumpers and 20” center-lock wheels. This example is finished in Racing Yellow and further distinguished by optional painted side skirts, clear taillights, carbon fiber SportDesign mirrors, LED headlights in Black, and wheels painted in Platinum Satin. The 911R livery consists of Porsche side script graphics in black, and the seller notes clear paint protection film has been applied over the full exterior. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
A nod to its predecessor, the 911R features houndstooth pepita seat centers and classic instrument dials with green markings. It also receives a unique carbon fiber shift knob from the factory along with matching trim pieces, full bucket seats, colored RS door pulls, and a dashboard-mounted serial number. The black leather interior of this 911R features extensive deviated stitching in Racing Yellow and additional leather trim covering the dashboard and door panels. Other options include illuminated carbon fiber door sills, Porsche Communication Management (PCM), BOSE Surround Sound System, Sport Chrono Package, Light Design Package, air conditioning, front axle lift system, and extended-range fuel tank.
Borrowed from the contemporary GT3 RS, the 911R equips a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine producing up to 500 HP. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential while stopping power comes from Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB). This example came factory equipped with an optional lightweight flywheel which provides a more visceral and engaging driving experience. The CARFAX report shows a history of maintenance with the most recent service completed by Porsche Fresno in October 2022 including a pre-delivery inspection, battery replacement, oil change, and inspection.
This sale will include a clean title.

Best. 911. Ever. Bought one a few years ago. Sold it last year. Immediately regretted it. Bought another one. Never selling it. SMF is the only important option (and it is an option). Everything else doesn't matter. You can do whatever you want with stripes. They are all adhesive. So you can change colors along with your mood.
So hard to find one with miles. Refreshing and therefore I’m bidding. Good car for commutes to work.
@mks0129 White and Silver were standard, with either green or red or no stripes. Black, Lava Orange, and Yellow where 'Limited Option' - where they had a limit of how many they would make worldwide (100 total). Black was the most common of these three options- I tried to order Black with Green stripes on mine and was not allowed to because of the limitation... so I settled for white with CXX stripes. Yellow was extremely rare
@mks0129 This color is a standard color for the 911R
Single mass flywheel was an option and was selected on this one.
Was this PTS or standard color?
Looking closer at this car's equipment print-out picture, the single mass flywheel does appear optional at $3,650.
...so the ad is written incorrectly and the single-mass flywheel is not optional.
@garrege Single mass flywheel was standard equipment on the R
@garrege single mass flywheel is much desirable and more valuable.
More responsive and makes awesome noises!
Bid in the amount of $326,000
I didn't know a single-mass flywheel was optional; obviously, the revs must be snappier than a dual-mass. Has anyone driven both and can comment?
Bid in the amount of $325,000
Thanks for the link to the 911R registry and also the BJ auction $455K result from Saturday. My, how far the R has evolved....

@momotime DME report has been uploaded to photos.
@PorSchean yep. Hunch was correct. Rare bird. I’m a 2019 gt3 touring owner in Miami Blue. These are phenomenal machines.
@Narbeh according to the 911R registry this is 1 of 5 911R's worldwide in racing yellow optioned as a no stripe car and the only US version Racing yellow with no stripes. https://www.porscheregister.com/911r-register-2016-reg
915 mile example at Barrett Jackson on Saturday sold for $445,500. Haven't seen one in yellow. Quite a rare color I believe for a 911R. GLWA!
@momotime The clear bra was applied when the car was new, and the DME report is being done right now. I will upload full report to gallery. Along with that, there are indentations in the clear bra of the low rear quarter panels, but nothing in the paint of vehicle.
@smdand Yes this car will be sold as a CPO.
So, is this car still considered a CPO vehicle?
Bid in the amount of $265,000
at what mileage/date was the clear bra applied
DME report
Any imperfections (stone chips, scratches, etc)
thank you.

@List-Renn I would not even say the word "diaper" around this stunning Porsche (kidding, of course).

Bid in the amount of $251,000
@Boattail Car has not seen any track time.
Bid in the amount of $210,000
@stim4u Then entire car has clear bra, so paint meter readings are done on the top of the clear bra. The photos are being uploaded for reading on all body panels that allow for reading to be taken.
Wow, cool R in a rare color.
Uncool - tire date code and (plainly listed in description) LEFW questions.
This one will hammer at $350-400K.
The non-winged GT3s have gotten faster, but not better. A great car with enough odo miles to actually drive and enjoy it without affecting resale value. I would! And of course also polish it with a diaper and admire the hell out ot it sitting in my garage.
Paint meter reading , excluding hood please ?

Bid in the amount of $200,000
I know the car changes owners a few times but do you have any idea on what percentage of the miles are track miles?
@Boattail front tire date codes are both 45.19. Rear drivers side is 08.20 and passenger side is 10.20.
Bid in the amount of $75,000
Date codes are actually going to be a factor on your bid?
Can you provide date code information for the tires?
Bid in the amount of $50,911
Probably will finish out of what I’m willing to pay but this is a super cool and rare car. Let’s go.
Bid in the amount of $16,911
@F1tifosi yes it is a single mass
In a modern car....it doesn't get better at any price.
Single mass flywheel? Thanks
What a beauty and so unique in so many ways! GLWS!
