Among 500 examples produced in total, this 2012 Porsche Cayman S Black Edition represents the rarest special edition 987.2 model ever built. Finished exclusively in Black over a matching interior, it features a 330-horsepower 3.4-liter flat-six engine from the Cayman R, black-finished 19” Boxster Spyder wheels, bi-xenon headlights, an Aerokit front spoiler, a three-spoke SportDesign steering wheel, stainless-steel door sill guards, Porsche-crested headrests, and painted interior trim pieces. This example was also specified with a 6-speed manual transaxle, an optional limited-slip differential, heated seats, and the Sport Chrono Package Plus. Acquired by its third and current owner in March of 2023, this rare 6-speed Cayman S Black Edition is now being offered for auction out of Illinois with approximately 28k miles showing on the odometer.
The Black Edition comes standard with an Aerokit front spoiler, black-framed bi-xenon headlights, painted side air intakes, a painted rear model designation, black dual exhaust tips, and lightweight black-finished 19” Boxster Spyder wheels. Other equipment includes headlamp washers, LED taillights and daytime running lights, fog lights, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and red Porsche-branded brake calipers. The car rides on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, which show date codes from 2021 and 2022. The seller describes the exterior as being in excellent overall condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the Black Edition comes standard with black-painted trim pieces, Porsche-crested headrests, a three-spoke SportDesign steering wheel, stainless-steel “Black Edition” door sills, a Bose sound system, automatic climate control, Porsche Communication Management (PCM), and a serialized limitation badge on the glovebox. This example is also equipped with optional heated seats and a Sport Chrono dashboard stopwatch. The seller notes the headliner was replaced in 2025.
Shared with the Cayman R, the Black Edition features a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine producing up to 330 HP and 273 lb-ft of torque. This example is equipped with a 6-speed manual transaxle, an optional limited-slip differential, and the Sport Chrono Package Plus. The seller notes the battery was replaced in 2023, an oil change was performed in 2024, and an oil change and brake fluid flush were completed in June 2025.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction of my 2012 Cayman S Black Edition. The Black Editions have the same engine as the Cayman R but a lot more creature comforts. The Black Editions with low miles are hard to find. This car has always been stored in a temperature-controlled garage and has seen rain, maybe 2 very short drives. You won’t be disappointed with this car. It’s in excellent condition.”

@FawsittMotors No rock chips at all
@FawsittMotors It had paint correction done last year
@Bazari12 Thanks, so 28k miles of rock chips on the front end or has it received so cosmetic paintwork to the hood and front bumper?
@FawsittMotors No, there is no PPF on the front end. I chose to not put PPF after the ceramic coating was done last year since I knew that I would barely drive the car.
Is there Paint Protection Film on the front end.
Good Morning to All,
I found and uploaded a copy of Mulroney Labels sheet for this car which is pretty much the same as the window sticker for the car.
The previous owner had the clutch replaced in 2022, however I can’t find a copy of the receipt.
As we get close to the end of the auction, on this last day of bidding, I really hope that the reserve is met and this amazing car ends up going home to a new owner.
Since Porsche announced earlier this year that they will no longer be producing Internal Combustion Engines for the Cayman starting in 2026, these low mileage special editions will only end up going up in value.
Good luck today and please let me know if you have any questions.

Good Morning to All,
Please look at pic #88. I was able to find the receipt for the detail job which was done in March of 2024. The car has been driven less than a 1,000 miles since the work was completed on the car. The work done included paint correction to remove all scratches and minor rock chips and ceramic coating the car.
This car has no paint imperfections at all.

@GAS please look at pics 86 and 87. Report was done earlier today.

Very special car, GLWS
@GAS I scheduled DME Report. The report should be done this Friday. Once they email it to me, I will upload the report.
@GAS I have this car stored at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, IL. The car has never been on the track. It’s been adult driven by all owners so far. I will try to get a DME report. I have my cars stored at Autobahn since my son races there and his race cars are stored there as well.
Providing a DME report could be very beneficial.
Sounds like you're at a race track in the videos.
Has the car had much track time?
Bid in the amount of $10,000
@GAS I have two keys. I didn’t have them together to take one picture with both keys. I don’t have a DME report.
Bid in the amount of $987
Could you provide a DME report?
Do you have 1 or 2 keys?
Thanks
