The rarest special edition model of the 987.2 generation, the Cayman S Black Edition was built in a limited-production run of only 500 examples worldwide. It shares its 330-horsepower 3.4-liter flat-six engine with the Cayman R and comes standard with black exterior trim accents, an Aerokit front spoiler, Porsche-crested headrests, a three-spoke SportDesign steering wheel, stainless-steel door sills, and black 19” forged lightweight wheels from the Boxster Spyder. This 2012 Porsche Cayman S Black Edition is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, an optional limited-slip differential, PASM suspension, a Sport Shifter, and Adaptive Sport Seats in leather with driver memory. The car has also been modified with Girodisc brake rotors, braided stainless-steel brake lines, Numeric shifter cables, and bronze-finished 18” Apex VS-5RS wheels. Purchased by the seller from its original owner two years ago, this Cayman S Black Edition is now being offered for auction out of Texas with approximately 71k miles showing on the odometer.
Exclusively finished in Black paint, the Cayman S Black Edition features Aerokit front spoiler lips, black-framed bi-xenon headlights, black dual exhaust tips, a black rear model designation, and painted side air intakes. This example has been fitted with bronze-finished 18” Apex VS-5RS wheels dressed in new Hankook RS4 tires measuring 245/40 in front and 275/35 at the rear. The factory black-painted 19” lightweight forged wheels are included in the sale and come mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires. These original wheels show some curb rash, and their tires were used for one session of HPDE. The seller indicates the car has seen some track use and the paint remains in good condition apart from several chips on the hood and front bumper. The seller adds that the vehicle underwent paint correction upon their purchase, and smoked indicator lenses have beeen fitted. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the Black Edition features Porsche-crested headrests, stainless-steel door sill guards, a three-spoke SportDesign steering wheel, black-painted trim pieces, and a badge on the glovebox denoting the car’s limited-edition production number. This example was optioned with Adaptive Sport Seats in leather with driver memory, a Sport Shifter, and a rear luggage partition. Other accessories include automatic climate control, cruise control, Porsche Communication Management (PCM), a Bose sound system, and Porsche-branded floor mats. Upgraded Numeric shifter cables have been installed, and the ashtray has been replaced with a new OEM part. The seller notes some signs of age including fading on the rear cargo panel covers, trunk, seatbacks, and a center A/C vent.
The naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 330 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and an optional limited-slip differential. The car is factory-equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and has been modified with slotted Girodisc brake rotors and braided stainless-steel brake lines. It was reportedly serviced by Porsche of River Oaks under the care of its original owner. The seller indicates it has since been maintained by a reputable Porsche specialist under their ownership including the recent brake upgrades. Notable service items included new front PASM struts and preemptive replacements of the water pump and alternator.
This sale will include two keys, a car cover, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the original brake rotors, 19” lightweight forged wheels, service records, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned this limited Black Edition 987.2 Cayman S for 2 years and have enjoyed every second in the car. #346 of 500 produced, the Black Editions are powered by the same motor installed in the Cayman R. It’s been a great car for the occasional weekends on Texas Hill country roads, Autocross, and HPDEs. Sadly, limited garage space has motivated this sale.”

I have the same brand (Apex) on my Type R that I use with all seasons, albeit flow formed and not forged; fantastic company. I’m pretty particular about bronze wheels and wouldn’t do them on a lighter color car, but they do really pop on this black.
@Bgoodie45 couldnt agree more. Those RS4's are literally brand new and road-force balanced. Her new owner will have an amazing time with them at the HPDE. Those bronze Apex wheels get a lot of attention and praises.

Appreciate the videos/pics, it’s definitely a beauty. Gonna be an amazing value for someone (hopefully me LOL) with the two sets of wheels/tires especially as I already plan on taking this up to Mid-Ohio for HPDE in June. RS4s are the perfect 200tw tire for that use case imo.
I know the car and owner. Very well maintained and garaged. He absolutely cares and loves his Porsches. I have a new GTS coming but was thinking about buying it off him
@Bgoodie45 Will hang around for a bit so let me know if u need any other pics or clips.
On a side note, the guys at Porsche Sugarland said this is the cleanest 987.2 cayman they have seen. Ironically, am appreciating the car more and more I set up for this auction. The 2x new sets of tires were worth over $4k..
@Bgoodie45 just got to the garage and crawled under to grab some pics and clips:
