We are pleased to present this striking 2012 Porsche 987.2 Cayman R. The Cayman R is favored for its lightness, ridgid chassis, and high-performance drivetrain. This specific example features a desirable 6-speed manual transmission, a full exterior wrap, and a clean bill of health. It is now being offered by its seller in Plainfield, IN with only 38k miles on the odometer.
The classic black paint is said to remain in exceptional condition and is protected by a factory color-matched vinyl wrap applied to the entire exterior, the stripes were then added for more aggressive styling(easily removable). The Cayman R features functional exterior details including a fixed rear wing, aluminum doors, and a 0.8” lower ride height with stiffer springs which improves handling and provides a more aggressive stance. This Cayman sits on a set of 19” Porsche lightweight sport design wheels which come wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
Upon entering the cockpit, the driver is situated in carbon fiber sport bucket seats that come wrapped in eye catching Carrera red leather with Alcantara inserts. The seller notes that an upgraded shift knob has been installed in this otherwise completely stock cockpit. Nicely spec’d when ordered new this Cayman R commanded an MSRP of $77k and features the following additional options:
The Cayman R features a robust 3.4-liter flat-six engine that produces 330HP and 273 lb-ft of torque. The R model utilizes a unique engine tuning process which helps to produce 10 HP more than a standard Cayman S. An upgraded Fabspeed exhaust system increases the engine’s ability to breathe while producing a more pronounced exhaust note. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. All in all, the Cayman R combines the usability of a long-distance cruiser with the high-performance characteristics enthusiasts would expect from Porsche. The seller notes the car is up-to-date on all regularly scheduled maintenance and has recently been serviced with fresh fluids and filters at a local Porsche dealership.
The sale will include a clear title, Carfax, original books, service records, and 2 sets of keys. Only 563 units of the Cayman R were exported to North America, don’t miss out on your chance to own this future classic.

@axestranger I could never understand that myself. But, to each his own. This car should ring the bell. Other than those stripes (can be removed) this is one killer Cayman R! GL2ALL

@Dozer - Car has full high end wrap same color as original factory paint (very hard to tell it is a wrap even up close) Silver stripes are wrap upon wrap and could be removed if you would just want to keep the classic black look that came from the factory) I was told the wrap probably cost the prior owner $6k plus to have professionally applied) I enjoyed having the wrap because I knew it was protecting the paint while driving - allowed me to enjoy the drive!
Sorry, but does the car have a full clear bra or is it wrap? Is the paint all original? Thanks!

@BoxsterBlues - please see recently added photos of the bottom of the car and comment / reply to @trmatur
@trmatur @BoxsterBlues - I added pictures of the bottom side of the Cayman R so you could see that this car is extremely clean and well taken care of. As you can see this car has never been driven in harsh weather conditions and has been extremely well taken car of by all of its owners. I took it to 3 car shows that were over 200 miles one way and tailered it to and from the car show. I never drove it in the rain. It has been covered in my garage when I wasn't driving it.
No sport chrono?
@kcrawford Thank- you for the info.
@BoxsterBlues I do not have receipts for any prior owners - the dealer I purchased this from had already thrown all of that away. The Carfax provided with the pictures shows most of the maintenance history. I have a receipt of maintenance that the dealer performed prior to my purchase - date on that receipt is 02/21/18. Porsche could not find any stories on this car in a search I asked them to complete on 5/8/18. I have a full inspection report that Porsche completed later last year when they changed the oil - the report is excellent and shows no current maintenance is required - completed on 07/29/19.
There is no evidence this car has ever been raced. The pictures are a great representation of the true condition of this car - it has not been heavily used in that way - well maintained and taken care of by Porsche Enthusiasts. This is a very special car - I have not seen another one outfitted like this one in the time I have owned it. I would enjoy seeing this car go to another Porsche Enthusiast like me!

Great car.
Would you have an over rev report ?
Has the car been tracked ?
Service history ?
Thank you.
Love the Cayman but nowhere to stash my small pups. Sure is a striking example with the striping and red interior. Must be a freaking hoot to drive.
