The lightest, most performance-focused version of the Porsche 987.2 model, the Cayman R weighs 121 lbs. less than a contemporary Cayman S and features a more powerful 3.4-liter flat-six engine, a lowered sport-tuned suspension, a limited-slip differential, an exterior Aerokit, 19” forged wheels, and a special lightweight interior. This 2012 example was factory-designated as a press car and is finished in Dark Blue Metallic over a Black leather and Alcantara interior. It comes equipped with a 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission, optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Sports Exhaust System, Sport Chrono Package, Full Bucket Seats, Silver Grey seatbelts, Sound Package Plus, and a 64-liter fuel tank. This unique and well-optioned Cayman R is now being offered for auction out of Oregon with approximately 52k miles showing on the odometer.
The Cayman R features lightweight aluminum doors, contrasting exterior accents, black-framed headlamps, 19” forged wheels from the Boxster Spyder, and an Aerokit including front splitters and a fixed rear spoiler. This example is finished in Dark Blue Metallic accented by yellow ceramic brake calipers and silver contrasts on the mirrors, side air intakes, and rear spoiler. The front end was previously refinished and modified with a GT3-style front bumper vent. Detailed images are provided in the gallery, along with a CARFAX report that shows damage to the front end in 2014.
Inside, the Cayman R features carbon fiber Full Bucket Seats, a hoodless instrument cluster, body-colored trim pieces, model designations on the door sills, and RS-style cloth door pull loops. This example is appointed with Black leather and Alcantara upholstery complemented by optional Silver Grey seatbelts. Accessories include a three-spoke SportDesign steering wheel with PDK shift paddles, a dashboard-mounted Sport Chrono stopwatch, an aftermarket roll bar, cruise control, Porsche Communicating Management (PCM), and Sound Package Plus with a CDR-30 audio system. As standard, air conditioning is not equipped.
The Cayman R is equipped with a mid-mounted 3.4-liter flat-six engine rated at 330 HP, an increase of 10 HP over a contemporary Cayman S. This example features a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission delivering power to the rear wheels. Standard equipment for the Cayman R includes a limited-slip differential and a lowered sport-tuned suspension with stiffer springs and anti-roll bars. This example was also factory-optioned with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Sport Chrono Package, Sports Exhaust System, and a 64-liter fuel tank. The CARFAX report shows 16 maintenance history records, and the seller indicates a service was performed upon their acquisition.
This sale will include owner’s manuals and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Here is a Cayman R spec that you do not see every day. Painted in Dark Blue Metallic over a black interior, this spec on this Cayman R screams 'I want to hit the backroads'. With bucket seats to hold you in and ceramic brakes to stop on a dime, this Cayman R will have you hanging on the edge of your seat! Also, this is one of the lightest configurations of the Cayman R that you could order.”

Don't miss out!
Just a few minutes left here on a fantastic Cayman R! Please let us know if there's any questions we can answer!
The would have been potential buyers who look down at the Cayman R now, might regret in in just a few short years for not investing in these truly unique Porsche model cars that not only were made just for 1 year (2012), but these wonderful and brilliant sport cars were a good hint of what the engineers at Porsche had in mind to develop and introduced the awesome Cayman GT4 only 4 years later (in 2016) for the firsttime!
@PCARMARKET_MODERATOR please remove my comments regarding AC if you like - sorry for any confusion I may have added. Thank you for clarifying NO AC.
The listing has been updated to confirm that this vehicle is not equipped with air conditioning.
@sclinch1 My apologies, @wadds1971 and @gpmotors, on second look, I don't believe this vehicle has AC. I don't actually see this on the VIN analytics sheet looking again (not sure why I thought I saw that on there). And the toggle button for "AC off" is present in the images (left of the air circulation button), but there is no AC off marking, so presumably not present?
@wadds1971, I'll let @gpmotors confirm, but this vehicle certainly has AC. You can see from the images it does and the VIN build sheet indicates the same. My experience has been that pcarmarket commonly pulls standard language from the initial car manufacturer offering and doesn't always correct/clarify listings to reflect what is actually being offered. The Cayman R was not equipped with AC as standard (weight saving measure) - it had to be added back in when ordering - most buyers elected to do so, however, including this example.
@gpmotors - Please clarify. Does this car have A/C, or not? The description above says it has "automatic climate control", followed by a statement saying "As standard, air conditioning is not equipped". Confusing language.

@gpmotors @gpmotors, thank you!
@sclinch1 We performed an oil change. I will post photos of the rotors and pads shortly
Beautiful R! @gpmotors, what services were performed on acquisition? 40K mile service completed? - don't see any indication of this on the CARFAX. Any inspection of the PCCB pads and rotors/remaining life? Thank you!
