Now available for auction is this 2012 Porsche Cayenne Turbo finished in Meteor Grey Metallic over a Natural Leather interior in Espresso and Cognac. The pinnacle of the second-generation Cayenne model range, this 2012 Turbo commanded an original sticker price over $120k with optional 20” SportDesign II wheels, a panorama roof system, Sport Tailpipes, stainless steel skid plates, and two-tone Natural Leather upholstery complemented by Natural Olive wood trim. It was acquired by the current owner in April of 2021 as a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle from Porsche Tampa and remains covered under an extended warranty. A nicely optioned example of the flagship Porsche Cayenne model, this Turbo is now being offered for auction by its third owner out of Texas with just over 45k miles on the odometer.
This Cayenne comes finished in Meteor Grey Metallic with optional stainless steel skid plates front and rear, Bi-Xenon headlights in Black, four-tube Sport Tailpipes, and roof rails and moldings with a matte aluminum-look finish. The owner has installed custom protective grilles behind the front air intakes as well as an aftermarket tow hitch which remains unused. The car has been garage-kept and is described to be in excellent condition overall, apart from a small imperfection on the front bumper as depicted in the photo gallery. A clean CARFAX report is also provided for reference. This Turbo rides on optional 20” Cayenne SportDesign II wheels with colored Porsche center crests and Pirelli Scorpion Verde tires dated from November of 2020 in front and August of 2017 in the rear.
The cabin is appointed with two-tone Espresso and Cognac Natural Leather upholstery as well as the Natural Olive Interior Package which adds wood trim to the dashboard, door panels, center console, and gear selector. Other noteworthy features include heated and ventilated 14-way Power Sport Seats, a panorama roof system, and reversing camera with ParkAssist front and rear. A complete list of factory options is provided below:
The twin-turbocharged 4.8L V8 engine delivers up to 500 HP and 516 lb.-ft of torque to all four wheels by way of an 8-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission. The car was fully serviced and inspected by Porsche Tampa prior to the owner’s purchase in April of 2021, and the only maintenance carried out since was the replacement of a damaged power steering cooler. The extended Porsche Certified Pre-Owned warranty remains in effect until 4/30/2023.
This sale will include some documentation and a clean title. Do not miss your chance to become the next owner of the generously equipped Cayenne Turbo.

Hello All - Well the auction on this somewhat rare 2012 Cayenne Turbo ends today after 2:00 PM CDT. By "... somewhat rare..." I am assuming there are not many Porsche SUV's out there of this year and model with over 15 months of Porsche Certified Pre-Owned warranty remaining. Honestly, I hate to part with this vehicle but cannot justify it as a garage keeper due to other more recent Porsche acquisitions (986 & 993) and a few other vehicles. In any case, I have done my best in honest answering of the questions from Bidders and Interested Parties. I appreciate those questions since I think they have helped to better disclosure the Cayenne's current status, which I think anyone would agree is excellent (in my opinion).
Thanks to All and Good Luck on the Auction if ownership of this Cayenne is in your hopeful future. You will not be disappointed in it I can assure you (my opinion of course).
Chuck
@CarBidder - Part 2 of the Q&A:
When was brake fluid last replaced? ||| ditto
Condition of Battery or when it was last replaced? ||| Ditto, and the battery is buried under the front seat I believe so it’s a bit of a task to get to it. I hope to avoid that undertaking. However, if this is a major sticking point for your bid, I will consider pulling the driver seat for battery access. I may, or not, have a date stamp so a bit risky on accurately answering the battery age question. Battery seems strong at present. Would be better if I drove it more regularly… But and Also -- I have just gone back to Porsche North asking if they can provide a complete Porsche shop service history on this VIN.
Has this car ever been involved in flood or water damage? ||| Definitely no
When was other fluids (Transmission Oil, Radiator Fluid, Steering Fluids) were replaced? ||| Ditto the above
You provided details of transfer case but did you happened to change transfer case fluids? ||| Since PCPO inspection & service maintenance before sale and low miles by me, I have NOT changed any fluids to date.
Any Oil or fluid leaks? Any Motor Oil Burning? ||| None, But If so PCPO will be responsible to fix at no cost until warranty terms out.
What kind of fuel economy do you get (city and highway)? ||| Sorry, I have not checked consumption per mile. I assume another owner of a Cayenne S, GTS, or Turbo of similar vintage might help with an answer or maybe whatever Porsche states, the below link or maybe You Tube might have some owner info.
||| https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/2012_Porsche_Cayenne.shtml
||| Appreciate the questions if my answers are lacking, or if you have more, then just let me know - Chuck
@CarBidder - Looks like the auction host has not posted the answers to you questions so I am pasting them in here... This is part 1 of 2. The "|||" is the break between your question and my answer:
CarBidder (registered bidder)0 minutesago
I have few question regarding this Porsche and if you don’t mind
answering them. Thanks
Most dealers do pre-purchase inspection whenever they buy/list Porsche.
Have you or prior owner/dealer done that? If yes, then would you mind
listing it here . ||| Yes a Porsche CPO inspection, service and any
problem corrections were performed by Porsche Tampa in late April 2021
when I purchased the vehicle. That report should be included in the
gallery. I will verify that and check to see if I have any other documents
on that pre-sale inspection. I did not have a third party complete a PPI.
Also, Porsche North Houston inspected and reported on vehicle status in
mid-July. Both or those reports are in the listing gallery.
Any Starter Motor issue? None and still under warranty
When was Sparks plugs last replaced (date and mileages)? ||| No
information. As mentioned previously, I have no service & maintenance
history from previous owner’s records. Porsche’s privacy policies prevent
such information from being furnished to future owners that purchase
vehicles from Porsche dealerships… unfortunately. That said, one might
be able to obtain additional service maintenance info from Porsche’s data
base. Other than just tracking down the transfer case history, I have not
pursued past records directly from Porsche’s shop databases. Not
positive, but since this is a P-certified CPO vehicle Porsche shops may
have performed all previous service, repairs, maintenance, etc.
Condition of Tires (how much threads are left) and when they were
replaced (time and miles)? What are specs of wheels? Height, width and
diameter? ||| This information is already available in the listing text or
pic/document gallery. Porsche North’s inspection has tire and brake pad
info as of mid-July.
Condition of Brakes (how much mm life has left) and when they were
replaced (time and miles). ||| Other than the above pertaining to previous
records and Porsche North’s tire & pad inspection I cannot add much.
@CarBidder - There should be 2 videos of the air suspension posted tomorrow, Saturday. It works correctly as best I can tell. Vehicle running, doors shut and drivers seat belt fastened.
@CarBidder - I have the Q&A completed. PCAR Market hosting should be adding the document to the pic/document gallery shortly...hopefully. Gad to answer anything additional that you might have. Regards, Chuck
@britco4 Thanks
@CarBidder - Hello @CarBidder, Your Q for A list is pretty long so I will do my best to answer them in a document to be added to the picture/document gallery. I will get it posted shortly. Thanks - Chuck
@CarBidder - Hello CarBidder --- Can do on the air suspension video. Will get that posted later today. Yes it has air suspension and works just as designed. My wife likes COMFORT I like SPORT, NORMAL is the compromise. If fails before 5/1/23, Porsche will fix it under CPO warranty at no expense so long as within warranty terms such as no abuse and other as excluded in their fine print.
I have few question regarding this Porsche and if you don’t mind answering them. Thanks

@Mb123894 and All Those Interested --- I was able to confirm with Porsche North Houston that the transfer case was replaced in 2018 by Porsche Hickory, NC in 2018. Also that the extended warranty on the case was extended to 7/2022 by Porsche and that the CPO warranty covers it to the termination of the CPO period at the end of April 2023 (actually the Porsche rep stated 5/7/23 but I am not positive this is correct but it must be in Porsche's database). A new owner might consider doing a fluid change as preventative maintenance and perhaps more frequently than Porsche recommends.
Also, the CPO warranty document has been posted in the picture gallery.
@Mb123894 - Mb here's an update on the transfer case: 1. I have asked my local Porsche dealer to check their records on if replacement or other work has been performed. Hopefully, I will hear back soon on that. 2. There should be two new pictures showing up in the picture gallery with this listing that show what appears to be a date stamp on the case. I read it as "13 Feb 2018" which of course it later than the vehicle was first sold. Hard to tell from bolt heads if they have been refitted or if original installation. The case is very new looking, not-dirty or tarnished but this helps little. CARFAX does not show it specifically but does show some 9/2018 service work and differential & axles inspection. None of this is totally conclusive other than maybe the date stamp assuming that is a true mfg date stamp,
Hopefully, the service rep I use at Porsche North Houston will provide confirmation before final bidding starts.
Thanks for the very appropriate question - Chuck
@Mb123894 - Mb --- I will also call the dealer to see if they have any records on transfer case replacement. Of course there is the 15 months of P-CPO warranty for some near term coverage.
@Mb123894 - I seen nothing in the records I have to indicate any work on the transfer case. I highly suspect it is the original. I'll crawl up under in the morning to see if there is any evidence it has been replaced or worked on and let you know. Thanks, Chuck

Very interested to see where this ends up. If I’d already sold my 2012 Cayenne S, I’d be bidding. Not many Turbo S’s around, which is really what I’m after. Does the seller know if the transfer case has been replaced? They all fail at some point and the clock is ticking on Porsche’s 10 year extended warranty on this part.
@Steve1231 - Steve, well I attempted on reply to your questions but I do not see it posted, so I'll try it again:
1. Remaining Porsche Certified Pre-Owner Warranty = 15 months, 3 weeks approx. to 4/30/2023.
2. See Pic 14 in the gallery. The paint ding is in the lower portion of the plastic nose cowling on the passenger side just above the grill. About 1.25" long. My opinion: Good candidate for Porsche color-matched touch-up paint with brush applicator. I have not taken the time to do the touch-up since the ding is so minor it is not worth the effort in my opinion.
@bruce48127 - Bruce, a couple of pics have been added of the 7-pin trailer plug installation by the hitch. See the last couple of pictures in the gallery.
@JimHawkins - Hey Jim, I feel your reluctance. I'm East Texas farm raised but lived on Houston area pavement for many years. This Cayenne shows no sign of ever doing mud and much dirt is doubtful. It's exceptionally clean. That said, I know there are plenty of its brothers & sisters with mud grips out there and these are generally the winners at Porsche get-togethers. Thanks - Chuck
Additional content has been added to the listing gallery.
Hello -
Beautiful car. I love the way you say "needing a performance SUV." Indeed, it is a need. I will be watching closely and strongly considering bidding. This would be a daily driver for me, and pulling my Cayman to the track, and rain and snow and such, so I'm a little reluctant to move this Southern belle to farm country...
Can you comment on the length of extended warranty remaining and also what looks like rock damage to the hood, perhaps post some more pictures of the hood? Thanks
@bruce48127 - Bruce - I am trying to get better pictures posted of the 7 pin trailer plug. Untill then I can tell you that is nice & tidy. I think no one would find any problem with the way it was installed.
@gwgrind - It's the genuine Porsche variety. See the documents at the bottom of the picture gallery. One of the pictures shows that vehicle was sold to me with Porsche CPO. After purchase Porsche sent their CPO welcome documents which I have to pass to the Buyer. Thanks for the question. Hopefully, I got it answered. - Chuck
@artichoke - @artichoke --- I am not aware of any present or past engine problems including leaks, drips, or other, etc.except for the following: 1. Whatever is shown in the CARFAX (dealer privacy policies prevented me from getting any service or repair records from previous owners), 2. recent replacement of the power steering cooler (porsche OEM part) due to road debris. My opinion is that the cooler was damaged during previous ownership but the damage was not found during the dealer's CPO inspection. The cooler damage was so minor that the only evidence was road dust build up on an oily area of the cooler. I just happened to spot it when I was checking to cooler area to remove leaves, etc.
And again, the vehicle still has warranty that would cover most any engine, drive train, body, electrical and most other failed vehicle components as defined in the Porsche CPO warranty coverage. I believe Porsche's website should have information on their CPO coverage.
Hi. Is the extended warranty a Porsche thing or 3rd party? A bit more detail if u have it.
Thx.
Hi, Any issues with water leaks especially in the manifold area? Any notable repairs made?
@bruce48127 - Bruce, if you zoom the hitch picture you can see the 7 pin female plug behind the 2" hitch receiver. It is only wired for non-brake application... i.e. turns, brake, running rear tail lights. Had not included the complexity of a brake controller in the plan. Only had anticipated small utility trailers, bike racks, or larger trailers with on-board trailer brakes like U-Haul trailers typically have. The plug can obviously handle the addition of a brake controller
I do not see a 7pin connector at trailer hitch. Has trailer wiring been added? Lights and brakes? Ho about brake controller?
Bid in the amount of $20,000
@britco4 - Correction by Chuck the Seller. The Porsche North inspection was last July, not "...last Fall." Thanks.
@82turboruf - Thanks for asking but negotiating a trade is unfortunately not in the current plan to reduce vehicle count from 6 to 5.
@tjkrueger - Yes it does. I just checked it to confirm it switches on, off per dash display. Did not check to confirm the wheel heats but it would be covered by the 15+ months or remaining Porsche CPO warranty if there are any problems with its function. Thanks for the question.
Does it have a heated steering wheel?
Interested in trading for a 2006 650 bmw cab? I have Haggerty ins. value of 25k.
Hello Bidders and Interested Observers,
This is Chuck, the private owner and seller. I need to make a few clarifications and corrections to the listing and CARFAX as follows, and of course, please ask any questions and I will do my best to answer them:
1. I purchased this Cayenne late last April as first step back into the Porsche world and thinking this would be a long term hold. A bit of a retirement gift to myself. It came from Porsche of Tampa as a CPO with 2 yrs warranty as the listing indicates. To shorten the story I will say that in July I added a Boxster 986 and next added a 993 last month. Wife has a Merc SUV and kids are gone. Three car garage so this Cayenne has come up short as a garage keeper. I refuse to park it outside. There are no known current issues with the Cayenne except for the small paint dink (see picture) from road debris experienced by a previous owner. Not noticeable from a few feet away. Appears to be paint damage only and not underlying structure. This SUV is not a daily driver, at all. Most of the miles from my use have been highway miles. More on this if anyone is interested.
More info on me - Retired engineer, PCA member and professional motorcycle and boat motor mechanic many years back
2.. The CARFAX looks correct as far as I know up through the Porsche North inspection entry last Fall. The two later entries referring to Reeves Motor Cars are in error. Reeves ( owner of Porsche of Tampa) was last involved with the vehicle at time of my purchase on 4/30/2021.
My Opinion: This Cayenne Turbo should be a great value for someone needing a performance SUV that they can enjoy knowing that there is almost 16 months of PCPO warranty remaining and... the obvious, that driving any Porsche has the potential to make your day just a little bit better.
Thanks - Chuck
