A light mid-engine roadster designed for the driving purist, the original Boxster Spyder made its debut in 2009 as the lightest car in Porsche’s model range featuring a driver-focused cockpit, a unique manual convertible top, lightweight 19” wheels, stiffened suspension, and a revised flat-six engine producing 320 HP. This 2012 example comes finished in Platinum Silver Metallic over a Sand Beige full leather interior and features an optional 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission, Sport Chrono Package Plus, Sound Package Plus, automatic climate control, PCM with navigation, leather Sport Seats, a SportDesign steering wheel, Bi-Xenon headlights, painted roll bars, and more. It was sold to a longtime PCA member as a Porsche-Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicle in 2014 and was purchased by the seller, its third owner, in March 2023. Showing under 47k miles on the odometer, this rare Boxster Spyder is now being offered for auction out of Florida.
In contrast to a standard 987.2 Boxster, the Spyder version features a lightweight aluminum hood and door panels, a larger fixed rear spoiler, and a manually operated convertible top stored beneath a unique double-hump aluminum decklid. The special bodywork also includes minimalistic LED front daytime running lights and the absence of horizontal slats on the side air intake grilles. This 2012 example is finished in Platinum Silver Metallic with optional painted roll bars, Bi-Xenon headlights, and 19” Boxster Spyder wheels. Other equipment includes clear side marker lenses, LED taillights, red brake calipers, headlight washers, twin rear diffusers, and dual center-mounted tailpipes. The seller notes that clear paint protection film has been applied to the front end, side sills, and rear quarter panels. The front bumper is said to have been previously repaired to address a ding and the exterior is described to be in very good condition with only minor imperfections. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing minor front-end damage in 2020.
Inside, the Boxster Spyder comes without a hood over its gauge cluster and features a painted body-color center console and dashboard trim strip as well as cloth RS-style door pulls. This Boxster Spyder is appointed with a premium Sand Beige full leather interior featuring optional heated Sport Seats, a three-spoke SportDesign steering wheel, and seatbelts in Silver Grey. Other options include Sound Package Plus, automatic climate control, automatically dimming mirrors, PCM with navigation, Bluetooth, and Universal Audio Interface. A pair of custom Coco floor mats has been fitted and the seller reports all accessories and electronics to be fully functional.
The Boxster Spyder equips a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine rated at 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque, an increase of 10 HP over the standard Boxster S. Equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus and 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission, it can reach 60 MPH from a standstill in approximately 4 seconds. The Boxster Spyder also comes standard with a mechanical rear differential lock and a 20mm lowered sports suspension with stiffer springs, larger anti-roll bars, and specially tuned shock absorbers. The seller notes that a Porsche Sport Exhaust system was installed by a dealer and routine service has been observed with the last oil change completed in May 2022 at 42,971 miles.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, some documentation, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for your interest in my 2012 Boxster Spyder. This 2012 Spyder is one of only 150 that were imported to the USA in 2012. This car is said to be the very last one imported according to the VIN. The car drives and handles like no other due to its low weight and mid-engine. It has been stored inside an air-conditioned garage since I have owned it. I had a PPI done at a local Porsche shop that I have never used. A link to the PPI will be included and you are welcome to call them. The car checked out perfectly (they thought I was buying it, not selling it, and they congratulated me on a great purchase. Funny)”

@DaveGee I think many people may not really know their max price - so they may be willing to take on the burden of a bidding war if they can stay under their max price. Just my .02

What’s the point of bidding at the last second if the clock resets to 2 minutes anyway. Not a snarky question - I really want to understand the logic. Anyone?

@ceebee none what so ever. And I have a good nose. NO SMOKING CAR! Lighter is shown in pictures. Never used. Thanks. Good Question.
@ceebee As the previous owner for eight years and having both heart and lung disease, I can verify the car was never smoked in. This car is in incredible condition and it is perplexing to me that bids are not very high on this car. You can look at the photos and see how the car was maintained. I only know of one other 987.2 Spyder in this color combination and it is in Europe.
@JasonJ yes, it’s called Climate Control on the build sheet. I understand what you mean as I almost bought one some years ago that was too good to be true. Turns out it had no AC. Lucky for me (as I am in Florida) i didn’t buy it.
To be clear, the car does have air conditioning.
Thanks. Good question.
Any evidence that the car has been smoked in?
I just uploaded a few maintenance recipes provided to me from the prior owner. You can call the shop and ask about the car. I did and they were very nice and answered all my questions after I purchased the car.

Does this model have AC?
I noticed that some cam without AC.
It would be helpful to confirm.
Thanks
Good thread to read. Mentions this Spyder as the last 2012

@Ginger354 Seats are heated but not ventilated.
Bid in the amount of $21,987
I may have missed and if so, my apologies, does it have ventilated seatsz?
While I have only known the seller for a short time as the admin for this car's Facebook group, I can verify his statement that he bought this while he waited to get the 987.2 Spyder he was looking for. You can see it there. In fact this was my advice to anyone who wants to try one or buy one until you find the one you like. Due to very low production, getting the spec options you really want will take time. In the meantime, enjoy what other owners say in our group..."I will never sell mine" (unless a better one comes).
@xpensivewino these are two different services and were done separately. Everything done to this car is documented. PDK is not part of the 40,000 mile service
@SpyderM thanks
@xpensivewino i will make an appointment Monday morning to get it done.
Thanks for the timely answers. The PDK recalibration is an important procedure as it resets the shifting points and updates the software to the latest PDK program available for the 987/997.2 gen cars. Perhaps the seller or previous owner can confirm with the dealer that it’s been done during the 40k mile service. They generally won’t release that info to non owners. Thanks again
@bertsboat The 40,000 mile service and all other services were performed to Porsche specifications. Oil was changed about every 4,000 miles at Heritage Motorwerks. The car never had an issue so repairs were never needed. I do not remember dates on services, but all verifiable.
@SpyderM Thank you. Do you remember date and miles? Appreciate the help a lot.
@bertsboat PDK service was performed at Hendrick Porsche of Charlotte
@SpyderM Thank you Richard. I have been asked if the PDK fluid has been changed. Can you answer that question? I no I will get it changed before delivery of the car. Thanks in advance, zbert
@xpensivewino I can not. But I will have it done at BGB Motorsports in Daytona. They are experts with Boxster and Cayman. If they can not do it in a timely manor I will get it done where I got the PPI done before delivery. Does that help. Maybe @SpyderM. Can answer that question better than I.

Can you confirm if this car has ever had a PDK service, flush, and the recalibration procedure? Thank you
&bertsboat - thx for the prompt response. Your new Spyder sounds amazing. Thx for the options list also.
@Ram3k I uploaded scans of the option sheet. Please Let me know if there is any other information that you would like me to add.
I added a list of the options obtained from
https://vinanalytics.com/
You can copy and paste the vin number there and it will list all the information on the car for free.

Here is a link to the PPI That I had done prior to the listing. I just wanted to be sure that the car was ready to sell and enjoy. I had never done business with Velocity Motorwerks. After the inspection they congratulated me on my purchase. They thought I was buying the car, not selling it.

@Ram3k I found and bought a Spyder in rare Aqua Blue Metallic with 5500 miles. Almost the exact spec. PDK, Sport seats (not LWB) and PCCB or I would never have sold this one.
@bertsboat - Looks like you’ve owned the car for about 9 months - could you comment as to why you are selling after such a brief ownership interval ?
Thx
@bertsboat As the previous owner of the car for eight years and being a Porsche owner for 52 years, I can verify that the accident was very minor and only involved an empty plastic bucket flying off the back of a work truck and striking the front bumper. The accident simply cracked the paint on the front bumper requiring it to be repainted. I never had an issue with this car during my ownership, it was perfectly maintained, and it was in excellent condition when traded.

@JasonJ They only have one top. It folds and rests in the trunk area. I will fold it and show you how it showers later today. The prior owner told ne that a plastic paint bucket fell from a truck in front of him. It hit the nose and then bounced over the car and only put a small mark in the front plastic bumper. No other damage. I think the prior owner may chine in on this and explain it further.
What a great color combination for a Spyder!
Good morning,
Can you please tell us about the accident that is mentioned in Carfax...what was affected, how was it corrected?
And, for another question...which is showing my ignorance of the Spyder version...is that the only top? Or, is there another?
Since I'm about to retire to FL, it might be moot...but I thought I'd ask.
Thanks
