Up for auction is this outstanding 2012 Boxster Spyder 6-speed finished in black over a black leather interior.  With its distinctive double-hump fairings, aluminum doors, and exotic styling, the 987 Boxster Spyder evokes the spirit of Porsche’s legendary 550 Spyder. Displaying approximately 17,900 miles on the odometer, this Spyder is now being offered for auction in excellent condition by a seller in New Jersey.

Having undergone paint correction and full ceramic coating, the black finish on this Spyder is said to be in exceptional condition.  The front and rear bumper covers were resprayed in 2016 and this is referenced on the CARFAX report.  The seller reports that the car never suffered any collision.  To give the future buyer total peace of mind, the seller provided current paint meter readings and detailed images of the exterior in the photo gallery.  Unique styling cues include a fixed rear spoiler, Porsche side graphics, a chin splitter and titanium-hued intake grills.  This Boxster rides on original black color-matched wheels that wear newer tires.

Inside, this Spyder is appointed with a black leather interior that showcases numerous factory options.  The seller has indicated that the interior remains in absolutely pristine original condition with all gauges, electronics and accessories fully functional.  Commanding an original sticker price of over $71k, this Boxster Spyder is equipped with the following features.

  • Manual Sport Seats in Leather
  • Sound Package Plus
  • Headlight Washers
  • Automatic Climate Control
  • Cup Holder
  • Sport Chrono Pkg W/Out PCM
  • CDR-30 Audio System
  • Fabric Door Opening Loop
  • Bi-Xenon Headlights w/ Dynamic Cornering
  • Roll Bar Painted in Exterior Color
  • Sport Seat Backrests in Exterior Color
  • Footrest in Sport Look
  • Fuel Tank Cap in Aluminum Look

Power comes from a 3.4 L flat-six engine with an increased output of 320 HP.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a traditional 6-speed manual transmission making for a 0-60 time of around 4.3 seconds.  With a lower center of gravity and reduced curb weight, the Spyder is noticeably more agile than its counterparts with Car and Driver hailing it at the time as “the best-handling stock Porsche, period.”  This 2012 example has recently undergone a service on 12/9/19 consisting of an oil and filter change, new front tires and a clean DME reading showing no over revs in ranges 3-6.  Clearly a well maintained and mildly driven car, this Boxster Spyder is being offered in excellent driving condition.

The sale of this impeccable Boxster Spyder will include all owner’s manuals, the original launch book with matching binder, a current service invoice, clear title, and two sets of keys.

@IdahoPotato spoken like a non-buyer. $1k on tire rack gets you any tire you want, a Spyder with a good DME doesn't exactly grow on trees

My friend has this exact car, paid way more than the current bid. Will be interesting to see where it lands. Good luck to the seller and future buyer, the car seems well represented and photos are even better.

@RichJ1615 Thanks for asking. It is actually very common. Often the manufacturers release the next model year before we are in the next year. In this case, they probably had a deadline to get this special model built for the model year 2011 and 2012 so the could finish a production run prior to tooling for the next upcoming model. I hope that helps.

I shoulda just bought a Spyder over a Boxster lol

  • RichJ1615 4 years, 11 monthsago

Is it common that a Porsche with a build date of 2011-05-01 would be a 2012 model vehicle?

@dawgfan1214 I apologize for any confusion and the wording the listing. There was no frame damage done to the car and the only thing that was repaired were the bumper covers, so I suppose that wording could be clearer. The car was just rolling to a stop when this happened. I am looking to be as transparent as possible. I hope that helps.

  • dawgfan1214 (registered bidder) 4 years, 11 monthsago

I’m confused. Why does the ad say “the seller reports the car never suffered any collision” but then you clearly describe a collision and so does the car fax?

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 4 years, 11 monthsago

@Jade911 I also want to comment on how nice the paint is on this car and that the ceramic coating really has given it a deep shine. Match is perfect on the bumper covers.

  • Ambassador-Auto (seller) 4 years, 11 monthsago

@Jade911 Thanks for asking. From what I was told, the were moving in traffic between traffic lights and bumped the car in front of them and the car behind them bumped them. No structural damage or other body damage happened to the car, both front and rear bumper covers were repaired and painted. As the meter pictures show, the sheet metal is all original.
