The 997.2 Carrera Black Edition was limited to 1,911 units worldwide with approximately 25% allocated for the U.S. market. Each sports a dark theme and features a comprehensive list of standard equipment including illuminated stainless-steel door sills, a painted center console, the Bose Surround Sound System, and more. This 2012 Black Edition Cabriolet was also generously configured with bi-xenon headlights including PDLS, clear taillights, the Sport Chrono Package Plus, Sport Tailpipes, body-color 19” Carrera Sport wheels, full leather seats with deviated stitching, the Aluminum Look PCM Package, ventilated front seats, and a heated multifunction steering wheel. Showing less than 46k miles on the odometer, this example is now being offered for auction out of New Jersey.

As a Black Edition, this Carrera Cabriolet was specified nonmetallic Black with a matching top and features a “911” rear model designation. Bi-xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) were additionally optioned, along with exclusive clear glass taillights, Sport Tailpipes, and body-color 19” Carrera Sport wheels. The CARFAX report notes a total loss from an accident in February 2023, including damage to the front-right corner and right side. As a result, the front bumper, windshield, right-front fender, and front subframe were replaced, and the vehicle was refinished in black. A collection of images is provided in the gallery.

Inside, the Black interior features heated and ventilated full leather seats with deviated stitching, exclusive Porsche-crested headrests, the Aluminum Look PCM Package, an exclusive Sport Look footrest, a heated multifunction steering wheel, a telephone module, rear ParkAssist, a Sport Chrono stopwatch dial, and a wind deflector with a colored logo. As standard, the Black Edition includes a Sport Design steering wheel, a numerated plaque, stainless steel door sill plates with model logos, Aluminum Look trim, a body-color rear center console, the BOSE Surround Sound System, PCM navigation, a universal audio interface, ParkAssist, cruise control, and automatically dimming mirrors with a rain sensor. Blemishes are noted on the center console and left-rear seat.

Factory-rated at 345 HP and 287 lb-ft of torque, the direct fuel-injected 3.6-liter flat-six engine drives the rear wheels through a desirable 6-speed manual transmission. Optional performance features include the Sport Chrono Package Plus and Sport Tailpipes. A total of 9 service history entries are shown on the CARFAX report. The seller notes that the right-front suspension components were replaced in July 2023, and the clutch was replaced in August 2025.

This sale will include a rebuilt title.

The seller would like you to know: “The car has been babied since ownership it’s a very special car with a limited run of 1911 units worldwide, don’t let the rebuilt title scare you, you can register and insure the car as you would a clean title, with the listing being at no reserve, you have a chance to buy a very special car for a really good deal and enjoy it as it should be enjoyed, by no means it’s not a museum piece but a work of art.”

This vehicle has been withdrawn to protect and ensure fairness in the PCARMARKET community. We have provided the seller an opportunity to fairly present the car but have decided in the best interests of everyone to remove the auction.

Homie ghosted us, and came back with a new profile to talk up his own auction. Jeez! Wouldn’t be surprised if this is how the last auction got so high, and then winning bidder supposedly backed out. I was ready to bid, but the seller just couldn’t find it in himself to come clean about anything. I hope the winning bidder can do us all a favor and comment back here when it’s all done. Curious to see how this actually pans out. Hopefully, someone gets a sweet deal today and does not get screwed. To that bidder, I strongly encourage you to use an escrow service like KeySavvy to make payment. This will protect you in the case that this is even more bogus than we all think. Sorry seller, you could have made a good return on this if you woulda just played ball.

Captivating drama! Parking here to see how this unfolds :)

@Slowrhode I messaged the seller yesterday (almost 24 hours ago), and no response yet.

  • Slowrhode (registered bidder) 5 days, 7 hoursago

Seller ghosts the auction after being called out on the fabricated PPI and suddenly the morning of the auction end a random user defends the car using the same writing style as the seller?

C'mon man, just log in with your real screenname and explain yourself or don't bother. No one is falling for the "mark1one" persona

  • vandyatc 5 days, 7 hoursago

I was interested in car as a potential driver and not worry about it for a low price when on BAT. I asked to come and have car personally inspected by a Porsche enthusiast 60 minutes away (who has his own black edition no less). No response from seller. Caveat Emptor.... This is at least the 3rd platform it's been on in a month with highly irregular and inconstent documentation. Seller seems disingenuous as previously noted. Wish it was a real opportunity for an entry level driver. I have no interest in this succeeding or failing. Only giving my thoughts.

    PCAR
Why, in the world, are you putting your reputation at risk by putting this car in your auction?
I’ve been watching this site for years and have been a customer and this car is just not worth putting your name behind it, in my view.

  • Laxplaya11385 (registered bidder) 5 days, 8 hoursago

@mark1one while you are correct, I think the issue is not so much that it's rebuilt, it's the presentation of the documents and the response to questions that is the main issue. I agree that if the price stays below a certain point and the rebuild is, in fact, good, that someone is going to get an amazing deal.

  • mark1one 5 days, 9 hoursago

    It’s a “rebuilt” TITLE …
    Hence the word….TITLE..
If your looking for a CPO titled Porsche then go directly to Porsche.. This car was risen up from the Insurance company auctions ashes and was restored and then inspected by a municipality to issue a rebuilt title. It’s not rocket science…
Go on Coparts of IAAI when you will actually see that the insurance companies sell thousands of these cars everyday. It’s not fair to hijack an auction of an honest person that took the time to rebuild a Porsche and then offer it to the next Porsche enthusiast that might not otherwise be able to afford one as “blemished” or “branded” titles often go for less Money simply because they cannot be financed by most credit unions or banks… Someone has put an enormous amount of time and money putting this back together and that is certainly worth a fair amount of money!
Drive it like you stole it and just enjoy it because no one on the road will know nor ask to see your “title” when you pass by them with the top down! Best to you on your sale because PCM is the best place to buy without all the drama !

  • Buntz319 (registered bidder) 5 days, 16 hoursago

Car looks great, but with Porsches there's more than just looking good. I would like to bid however there is quite a bit of fagazy issues that were brought up including the title. Can you clear up who rebuilt, invoices, why Idaho title? I'd like to see and drive the car and examine documents to dispel any concern of fraud. please send address where it can be viewed Thanks

  • Laxplaya11385 (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago

I had messaged you on FB, bc I saw you had posted this there, and I recalled the pics from the BaT auction. Since you're not far from Paul Miller Porsche, I would suggest taking it there for a PPI just to have a legit one done and posted here. I know people there, so I can always help set it up.

  • DocR 1 week, 1 dayago

Sounds like the seller is in the 'find out' phase of trying to list this car with dubious credentials. What I've learned from selling cars both on auction sites and Rennlist is that Porsche guys are sticklers for detail. Once something doesn't pass the sniff test then the sale is pretty much dead in the water.

The seller has gone to some effort to get the car looking presentable, and I feel that with full and open disclosure this car will reach a fair market price - after all that is what listing on a large auction platform is all about.

My advice is to come clean - sunlight is the best disinfectant. You might not recoup what you've put into the car and that's the salvage gamble. Trying to sneak something past a group of enthusiasts who can tell you the 12 different kinds of deviated stitching available on a 997 will never end well.

On a side note - at least the DME is reasonable. Someone banged the rev limiter recently but the mileage and operating hours check out.

  • campodf (registered bidder) 1 week, 2 daysago

Let me cut to the point: Seller, did you falsify the PPI? It is on Porsche letterhead, but the dealer (Porsche Monmouth) you say that it was taken to has no record of the car being there and has heard of neither of the two employees who supposedly performed the PPI. This fact was confirmed via a bidder on the phone and another person via email.

@pcarmarket and bidders - the seller has a history of making up documentation which was proven on the last auction for this car on BaT two weeks ago. It seemed like all was rectified by the time the bids closed but now we are presented with a new PPI that has dates and mileage that do not line up to carfax information and signed by people who apparently do not exist.

The worst part about this is that no one forced the seller to put up this PPI. He did it on his own. So it really makes you wonder - who did the PPI? Did it happen? Was the winner of the BaT auction a real bidder?

  • Hallowsleeve (registered bidder) 1 week, 2 daysago

My guy, I have the same questions and concerns as previously asked in the comments below. Can you please verify the shops that did the work on the car? I think we’re all past the story that the body shop all of a sudden closed within two weeks of the auction but what about the PPI in the alignment? One of the comments below said he had already checked with the supposed shop and they have no record of this car ever being there. These are the kinds of things that people need to know. You can’t just upload documents and then not ask the questions to verify their authenticity when there’s a lot of suspicious things going on. I know to you don’t think it sounds suspicious and to you all of this documents are legit, but some of the information doesn’t track and the documents look a little funny. All you have to do is either A. give us all some clarification, or B. just tell us it was all made up come clean and give us the truth about everything. I guarantee you, people will be much better towards you after that. The work may have been done, all of these things, and that is fine even if you did all the work yourself in your home garage. But if the documents aren’t real, and people can’t verify with the shop, that work was actually done to this car at that shop, that is a problem. At this point ,I feel like people would just be happy to know that it was all made up and that you did all the work in your driveway than to keep being told that the documents are legit and to stop trying to ruin your auction. This is just the way these auctions go my man. Either play ball or get ready to have another buyer flake.

  • Mr997blackedition (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

@-racer-x the shop sublets the alignment work and that's what was provided

  • Mr997blackedition (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

@DocR the report is 100 percent legit the car was taken to Porsche and stayed there for 3 days until the inspection was completed

  • Mr997blackedition (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

@Porschefan987 wow dude you took the time out of your day, created an account and wrote a story for what? do you not have a job or a life?

  • Mr997blackedition (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

@Hallowsleeve YOUR ABSOLUTLEY CORRECT... i just can keep defending baseless accusations... the car checks out i don't know what more i can say than that. there is no issues with the car what else would you like me to answer? is there specific points you'd like addressed on the condition of the car?

  • Porschefan987 1 week, 2 daysago

As someone who followed the last auction on BAT, I would be remiss if I didn’t point something out.The seller provided fake invoices with similar (and worse) errors in the last auction purporting to show evidence of recent mechanical work (including an IMS bearing replacement which isn’t a thing on this engine) and body work to rectify the damage that totaled the car. When he was called out, he claimed the shop that did the mechanical work closed in the two weeks between when the work was done and the time the car was listed on BAT before finally admitting that he made up the invoices “from memory”. He had an equally bizarre rationale for why the title was changed to Idaho even though it was in New Jersey (he had the car shipped out there to be fixed by a reputable shop - which the fake invoice directly refuted - and figured he’d try to get the car titled while out there or something?). Glad the fake invoices didn’t make the cut this round but I see the dodgy looking alignment report he provided later in the auction is back along with an equally suspect PPI. Weird that the winner of that BAT auction would pay for a PRE Purchase Inspection two days AFTER he or she won the car. The BAT thread is quite the interesting read, useful for a potential buyer or just someone who needs to kill some time. The seller will likely call me a hater or jealous or something as he has done to other people both here and on BAT but that won’t bother me. If he provided real answers with proof instead of deflecting, all of this would be non issues. And, yes, I registered for this site to just put in my .02.

  • Hallowsleeve (registered bidder) 1 week, 2 daysago

@Mr997blackedition thank you for confirming payment information. Just want to be upfront and honest with you man, the way you’re answering these people in the comments and the way you presented yourself on the bring a trailer auction is not very good. If you can’t deal with these kinds of questions then you are selling this car on the wrong platforms. You can get away with that kind of stuff on Facebook marketplace, but not on any of these auction sites. Porsche buyers are very particular and they like to know verified information about the cars that they are purchasing. If a seller cannot fully articulate and verify these questions you will receive the kind of heat you’re getting currently. I strongly urge you try and find a way to verify and authenticate all of the answers that you have given to these people. They’re not trying to be rude or ruin your auction. They’re literally asking the same questions almost every Porsche buyer asks on all of these different auction sites. Go ahead and look it up yourself. It’s not uncommon at all. Some people are more comfortable taking the chance, most are not. If you could prove everything you’re saying is legit and verified, you should see this car bring well over $30k. Unfortunately without that, I don’t see this auction getting much farther than it is currently. Yes the car will sell no matter what since you have no reserve, but with a little bit more effort out of you, you could triple your return on this. You have to see the potential bidders’ concerns for the two documents listed in the photos. One of which has typos, and has supposedly been verified that the people who signed the document don’t even work at the Porsche center that you mentioned the work was done at. Then unfortunately, that alignment spec sheet looks like somebody made it on Microsoft Word in sixth grade. I have never seen an alignment sheet look like that from any reputable shop. Take it for what it’s worth, just trying to give you some perspective.

  • -racer-x 1 week, 2 daysago

@Mr997blackedition i don't get how pointing out that's not the service advisor at that location is sabotage

you also never answered how an alignment was done at a shop without an alignment rack

and why there is no trace of the shop that did the work

  • DocR 1 week, 2 daysago

@Mr997blackedition can you speak specifically to the legitimacy or otherwise of the Porsche Multi Point Inspection Report?

  • Mr997blackedition (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

@FurPuts yea... ok your someone that's trying to sabotage the sale just like you did on bat, i really have nothing to hide the car is in excellent shape.. I'm not going to play this game back and forth, I'm honest the car is available for anyone to come inspect or do a ppi at a shop or dealer of their choice before bidding, all your doing is bringing negative light into something that you seem very jealous or angry over good luck to you i wont entertain or answer any further comments from you or anyone that wont ask real questions about the car and its condition... another point i will say anyone that wins the car and is not happy with its condition or finds anything wrong that was not disclosed i personally will cancel the sale and will not take a single dollar from them, so to everyone bidding rest assured i stand behind my word on the condition of this car

  • Mr997blackedition (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

@Hallowsleeve this is a personal sale, the funds have to be wired, not sure if your approved somewhere, however you can check with your bank to see if they would finance this car...

  • Hallowsleeve (registered bidder) 1 week, 2 daysago

@Mr997blackedition are you a dealer or is this a personal sale? What payment methods do you accept, or is that all handled through PCAR?

  • FurPuts 1 week, 2 daysago

Nice try. I just called Porsche Monmouth and they have no records of this car ever being there for anything. Additionally, there is no Roger Nazetti that works as a service advisor there nor is there a Raymond Gonzalez that works as a tech there.

Also, all of the check marks are placed differently on your ppi, some are even outside of the box (look at RR tire tread depth)! This PPI is obviously fabricated.

My guess? The "alligment" is the smoking gun on this car.

  • Mr997blackedition (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

@FurPuts also the alignment isn't checked on a ppi, however one of the main requests from bats highest bidder to the dealership was checking on the alignment and subframe of the car!

  • Mr997blackedition (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

@FurPuts ppi is legit. not only is it legit, it shows the vehicle is in good standing except for the rear left tire. this template is available for purchase, and yes the Porsche store probably uses it so nothing alarming here, you guys are just trying to destroy this auction just like you did on bat, very unfortunate, even after i proved all you guys wrong on there....

  • Mr997blackedition (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

@DocR Porsche of Monmouth county did the ppi, the buyer from bat called and paid for the ppi, and unfortunately went ghost after , the clutch was measured by taking down the transmission and inspecting the clutch itself. from visual inspection they estimated it to be at 98 percent, also not sure if this is a coincidence weren't you bidding on this car on bat as well? someone with a similar name was bidding on it there just curious!

  • Mr997blackedition (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

@DeuceDeuceBravo the buyer went ghost, and bring a trailer was no help at all.. all they did was refund my listing fee :(

  • DeuceDeuceBravo (registered bidder) 1 week, 2 daysago

@Mr997blackedition Any explanation why the sale on Bring a Trailer didn't go through?

  • FurPuts 1 week, 2 daysago

    The PPI is suspicious.

-In the bottom left corner you will see "PNA 000 012". Google that and you will see this exact template available for purchase around $23.
-PPI's are not passed or failed like a state safety or emissions inspection. They are performed, then repairs and/or services are recommended for a buyer to consider.
-All of the comments read as a sales pitch and not a neutral third party reporting findings.
-Specific shop or dealer chain not listed.
-Inconsistent comment location and way that they are listed. Some of them start below the "comments" text while one of them starts right next to the text. There are asterisks for the comments under the brakes section (which talk about the top, the clutch, the test drive, and the tires but the brakes are not mentioned) but none on the other sections.
-Then, there is the comment about the alignment. The alignment check is not a part of this specific multi-point inspection sheet. Yet, in a completely unrelated section of the inspection there is the request for a check and the immediate finding that it's perfectly fine with no report of the values or the specs. If there is a report of those findings, it can't be the alignment print out in the next photo because they were performed on different dates by different people.

  • Lemon_Curd 1 week, 2 daysago

Is this the same car that was “sold” on Bring a Trailer only 15 days ago?

    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2012-porsche-911-997-carrera-cabriolet-3/

Potential bidders might want to read through the comments on the BaT auction to learn a little more about this car.

  • DocR 1 week, 2 daysago

Which Porsche Dealership did the PPI? They misspelt 'perform' and haven't used any punctuation - an unfortunate coincidence.

How did the tech measure clutch wear? I know a PIWIS can be used for setting a PDK transmission, but doesn't have any applicability for a manual clutch. Happy to be corrected.

  • MBermeo2025 (registered bidder) 1 week, 2 daysago

    @Mr997blackedition thank you!!
    Looks grate and sounds amazing!

  • Mr997blackedition (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@MBermeo2025 @MBermeo2025, no damage to the frame at all

  • MBermeo2025 (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

@Mr997blackedition Thank you for your prompt response!
There was no damage to the frame; if so did you use Cellete or similar equipment for perfect alignment?

  • Mr997blackedition (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@MBermeo2025 thank you, yes i did a new dash airbag as well as steering airbag, both were programmed, i had to replace the dash board with a leather wrapped dash off of a 2011 Carrera, as far as the right side i did a whole new subframe with a new right side suspension from control arms to bushings, caliper, bearings, brakes so the right side suspension is brand new, i also replaced the right side fender and a new clutch this past month

  • MBermeo2025 (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

    Nice rebuilt!
Saw in the CARFAX report that there was airbag deployment; imagine this was replaced and works as it should?
Would you mind telling me what was done in the right front to repair it please?

  • Mr997blackedition (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

thanks to everyone that's bid so far, please bid with confidence. this vehicle will pass whatever check is thrown at it, I'm truly sad to let this one go in about 4 days, however the highest bidder will be one happy guy or gal
**please do not bid if you don't have the funds available ** this vehicle will be sold at the end

Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to take a look at my 2012 997.2 black edition Carrera. The car is up for no reserve meaning its going home to the highest bidder, i have enjoyed this vehicle since my ownership back in 2023, i bought it from iaai as a salvage title, and brought it back to life, new clutch was also installed less than 2000 miles ago, the car has been trouble free and lives under a cover in my garage during the winter months, the only reason I'm parting with it is to make room for my new 991.2 GT3 i recently acquired, feel free to ask anything im here to help, and once more thank you for taking the time to check out my listing!

  • 4Speedy (registered bidder) 1 week, 4 daysago

I see that the wreck occurred in Feb 2023. That was 2 1/2 years ago. Where's the car been since then? I assume that you're not the original owner... how did you come across the car? Any original damage photos?
