Limited to 1,911 examples worldwide, the 2012 Porsche 997.2 Carrera Black Edition came with a unique black color theme and a comprehensive list of standard equipment including illuminated stainless-steel door sills, a painted center console, Bose Surround Sound System, and 19” 911 Turbo II wheels. This Carrera Cabriolet Black Edition is equipped with an optional 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission, Sport Chrono Package Plus, heated and ventilated seats, Porsche-crested headrests, and bi-xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS). The car was sold new in California and remained there before moving to Washington in 2022 and finally to Texas in 2025. Supported by a recent pre-sale inspection, this limited-edition 997.2 is now being offered for auction with approximately 82k miles showing on the odometer.
This Carrera Cabriolet is finished in Black with a matching power-operated convertible top. Equipment includes optional bi-xenon headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), LED taillights and daytime running lights, a “911” rear model designation, a speed-activated rear spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, and 19” 911 Turbo II wheels. The seller notes the car has always been garage-kept, the Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires were mounted 2 years with approximately 10k miles driven since, and a scratch is present on the front bumper. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with an accident-free CARFAX report.
The Black interior includes optional heated and ventilated power seats with Porsche-crested headrests, a black leather three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a Black-painted center console, illuminated “Black Series” stainless-steel door sills, and a limited-edition plaque on the glovebox. Other accessories include automatic climate control, cruise control, a dashboard-mounted Sport Chrono stopwatch, Bose Surround Sound System, and an aftermarket touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay. The seller indicates signs of wear throughout the interior, consistent with the car’s age and mileage.
Rated at 345 HP and 287 lb-ft of torque, the direct fuel-injected 3.6-liter flat-six engine drives the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. Equipped with Sport Plus mode and launch control as part of the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus, the car can accelerate from 0-60 MPH in as little as 4.7 seconds. A pre-sale inspection was completed in February 2025, which found the secondary air pump is failing, the battery is weak, and the front and rear brakes have 5mm and 8mm of pad thickness, respectively. The following service history was also provided:
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a car cover, a cabin wind deflector, and a clean title. The CARFAX report indicates a mileage discrepancy in January 2022 that is said to have resulted from a DMV clerical error and was corrected at the DMV the following month. The seller attests that the mileage shown on the odometer is accurate.
The seller would like you to know: “Love the car, and I really believe I've kept it in great mechanical shape over the last 3 years. I’m in need of a more practical daily driver going forward now that my job is no longer remote. Hoping I can find a great new owner to love it as much as I have! Please ask any questions as they come up!”

What is the estimated cost of replacing the secondary air pump?
Bid in the amount of $25,001
@arokhsar It will eventually need to be replaced. Not sure how long it will hang on.. It has been advised to me to not fix it until it completely fails or the "check engine" light appears since it is only relevant to emissions.
Hi, just making sure that the secondary air pump needs to be replaced?
Bid in the amount of $20,000
@SLGold1606 Garaged in Washington and I never drove it in snowy conditions. Moved in September.
I uploaded a copy just now. Il let the admins know to update the page.
Follow up question - has the pre-sale inspection that was completed in February 2025 been posted to the site...and maybe i just don't see it.
Thank you.
Thank you for the reply back...and the idea that the car was maintained mostly in southern states is one of my boxes to be checked...while you were in Washington, was the car garaged?
BTW when did you move back to Texas?
@SLGold1606 the car has not been registered in Texas.
Inspection was done at German Auto Center in north Austin. I can upload a copy but it’s not nearly as intense as a PPI from a dealership — the text in the listing is 1:1 to what the report says.
Only thing that hasn’t been addressed is the secondary air pump, it has been recommended to me by both shops I’ve been to not prematurely fix it.
All previous work in Washington was done at Autobahn Specialist in Tacoma. If you want to give them a ring, they are familiar with the car. I’ve always had them do everything they recommend.
Thank you and follow up comments:
1. The above specs says based in Texas but the Car Fax says Washinton state...if you did move back to Texas was the car registered there?
2. Whom did you use for the pre inspection report and is that report available for review?
3. Assuming the purchase would be "as is" as none of the items listed on the report have been taken care of?
@SLGold1606 For sure, it was a mistake made at the DMV -- 65k was reported instead of 67k. While the title was corrected in the following month, the brand exists because the discrepancy is still in the NMVTIS database. The brand will persist on any future titles due to the database entry.
The odometer status on the current title does read "actual mileage" if it is any consolation. Let me know if you have further questions on that topic-- as you can imagine I've researched it quite a bit to try and fight it-- to no success.
Thank you for the clarification...and can request some further clarification on the Car Fax report stating that its a Branded Title and may not be actual milage?
@SLGold1606 This is true. The IMS issue is mostly related to the 996 from 02-05 (~10% fail rate) but exists up to 08. 2009-2012 has a different design.
Question...i believe that this engine is POST all the IMS issues and concerns...but please confirm. I know that there are many out there who are deeply knowledge about this model and just coming up to speed. I have seen a number of them in my area and are really assume looking cars. I will also start doing my diligence on this until.
@NineNine6or7 A top operation video has been added to the listing page.
Please show pics with top up, and/or ideally, video of it opening/closing. Thanks
