Unveiled at the 2012 Bejing Auto Show, the Aston Martin Virage Dragon 88 is a special edition version of the Virage grand-tourer created to honor the year of the Dragon, with a limited production run of only 88 examples across the DBS Volante, Virage Coupe, and V8 Vantage S Coupe model lines, and only offered to the Chinese market. This 2012 Virage is finished in Amythest Red over a Spicy Red leather interior and is said to be the only known example in the United States. It was imported to the U.S. with just over 100 miles on the odometer and was purchased at auction by its previous owner in 2017, The Dragon 88 Edition includes dragon embroidery on the headrests in the style of the “Nine-Dragon Wall” in Beihai Park, Beijing, 24-karat gold winged Aston Martin badges, magnesium-silver front grille inserts, carbon ceramic brakes, and 10-spoke silver-painted diamond-turned alloy wheels. Showing just over 22k miles on the odometer of which just 500 miles were added by the seller over the past twelve months while displaying it at various car shows and events, this extremely rare Aston Martin Virage Dragon 88 is now being offered at auction by its seller out of New Jersey.

The exterior is finished in Amythest Red (5056D), one of three color options for this special edition. Equipment includes model-specific 24-karat Aston Martin badges and magnesium silver grille inserts, clear tail lights, a vented hood, bi-xenon headlights with LED running lights, paint-matched integrated door handles, polished window surrounds, vented fenders, black brake calipers with white Aston Martin script, and dual chrome exhaust outlets. The seller reports the exterior has recently received a paint correction and ceramic coating and notes a few minor rock chips on the front bumper. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The model-specific 20” 10-spoke silver-painted diamond-turned wheels are mounted with Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus tires showing date codes from 2020.

The interior is upholstered in Spicy Red leather, which extends from the seats to the dashboard, center console, door panels, door sills, and rear deck, with gold contrast stitching throughout, accented by Piano Black trim. Details specific to the Dragon 88 series include gold embroidered dragons on the headrests, gold accents on the dashboard, and “Year of the Dragon 88 Limited Edition” door sill guards. Amenities include automatic climate control, a push-button ignition, an analog clock, black floormats with Spicy Red binding, reverse-sweeping instrumentation, a black leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, aluminum pedals, power-adjustable seats, parking sensors, a tan Alcantara trimmed headliner, and a Bang & Olufsen audio system. The seller notes two hairline cracks in the Piano Black trim, as shown in the embedded video, and reports that a Bluetooth connectivity device was installed by the previous owner.

The Virage is powered by a 6.0L naturally-aspirated V12 producing 490 HP and 420 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by a 6-speed Touchtronic II automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential, allowing for acceleration from 0-60 MPH in 4.5 seconds and a claimed top speed of 186 MPH. Performance features include carbon-ceramic matrix brakes, Servotronic power-assisted steering, Bilstein active dampeners, and a selectable Sport mode. The vehicle completed a full service at Aston Martin Summit of Summit, New Jersey in August of 2021. The vehicle is currently back at Aston Martin of Summit to replace the ignition key receiver, which will be completed before the end of the auction and is available for pre-purchase inspection at this location.

This sale will include 2 keys (including the crystal key that shows some signs of wear), a first aid kit, an Aston Martin Umbrella, a Dragon 88 dragon-embroidered jewelry box, and complete service records.

Hi All, just 16 hours to go! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any final questions. As mentioned before, this vehicle has been serviced at Aston Martin of Summit for many years - ever since the previous owner bought the vehicle - and passed a pre-purchase inspection from them with flying colors. Best of luck to all of the bidders!

@Vipmn Thank you for your bid and interest! Believe it or not, the nav screen motor was recently serviced and replaced by Aston Martin Summit under our ownership. We've redacted and submitted all service records to PCarMarket but for some reason they are not yet on display... I will contact our rep first thing in the morning to ensure they are up before final bidding has concluded. You are also more than welcome to email us directly.

You can see in our photo gallery that the nav screen is down, and you can see in our driver video that the nav screen is up. There is no issue with the lift motor itself when it comes to the nav screen opening or closing since it does both without any noise or issue (it opens immediately when you click the nav button), however, sometimes the screen will stay up even when you click the nav button off, and then it will close once you turn off the car. It's a bit strange and I'd imagine this might be covered under warranty with Aston, so I will give a call to the Aston Martin Summit service manager tomorrow.

@Piantanida1 Hi there and thank you for your interest. I see what you mean in the video, however, I can confirm that there is no flickering whatsoever. This is simply caused by the difference in frame rate of the camera versus the refresh rate of the digital display. If you try this on a car of your own, it will likely happen as well! It's also the reason why sometimes when you film a car, the wheels can look like they're spinning in the opposite direction or at different speeds.

  • Vipmn (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

Does the navigation screen operate properly
    Does it retract and open?

  • Piantanida1 (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

On the second video it looks like some of the instrument panels are flickering?

    Hi All,

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions regarding the vehicle. It is truly one of a kind and a fantastic GT car. The exterior color, although hard to photo, is a brilliant amethyst red wine color that shines wonderfully and changes under various forms of sunlight.

It passed an inspection at Aston Martin summit with flying colors, and has recently received a full service and a differential fluid service just this week.

1 of 1 in the United States, this car brings a smile from ear to ear especially when arriving to a car show or merging onto the highway with generous throttle application.

The car received a full paint correction and ceramic coating and has a mirror like finish.

We are excited to bring this brilliant car to auction and will be sad to see it go, but we are sure its next caretaker will enjoy this car for years to come.
