Celebrated as one of the greatest Porsche 911s ever produced, the 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0 marks the final iteration of the legendary Mezger engine with a special 4.0-liter flat-six derived from the contemporary GT3 RSR race car. Limited to just over 600 examples, it showcases a carbon fiber hood and front fenders, front canards, lightweight carbon fiber bucket seats, a 6-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, dynamic engine mounts, and a unique exterior graphics package. This example is finished in Carrara White over a Black leather and Alcantara interior with deviated silver stitching. It came factory-equipped with the optional Extended Carbon Package, carbon fiber air vent trim, Sound Package Plus, and Dynamic Cornering Lights. Sold new in San Diego, where it remained with its original owner until 2023, this GT3 RS 4.0 is now located in Illinois and available for auction to the public for the first time, with less than 6,000 miles showing on the odometer.
Building on the platform of the GT3 RS, the 4.0 version is further enhanced with a lighter carbon fiber hood and front fenders, front wheel arch flares, front canards, polycarbonate rear windows, a glass-reinforced plastic decklid, and a fixed rear wing with unique side plates. This example is finished in Carrara White with silver front air intakes, dive planes, and wing uprights, complementing the two-tone mirrors and racing stripes. Equipment includes bi-xenon headlights with optional Dynamic Cornering, LED taillights and daytime running lights, clear side marker lenses, dual center-mounted titanium tailpipes, and red Porsche-branded brake calipers. The factory 19” GT3 center-lock wheels have been repainted in OEM GT Silver from their optional, black-painted finish. The seller adds that the car has been preserved in exceptional overall condition, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Featuring lightweight carbon fiber bucket seats with red seatbelts, the cockpit is appointed with Black leather and Alcantara upholstery accented by silver deviated stitching and optional carbon fiber trim. Accessories include RS 4.0-embroidered headrests, red cloth door pulls, an Alcantara-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, optional carbon fiber air vent trim, carbon fiber door sills, optional Sound Package Plus, Porsche Communication Management (PCM), automatic climate control, cruise control, and a numbered limitation plaque on the glovebox.
Equipped with forged pistons, titanium connecting rods, an RSR crankshaft, Dynamic Engine Mounts, and a sport exhaust system, the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter Mezger flat-six engine produces up to 500 HP and 339 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential and a single-mass flywheel. The car is also equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), adjustable coilovers, Dynamic Engine Mounts, and 6-piston front and 4-piston rear brake calipers paired with cross-drilled discs. A service was carried out by an authorized Porsche dealer in August 2025, including an oil change, brake fluid flush, new windshield wipers, cabin filters, spark plugs, engine air filters, and transmission fluid.
This sale will include two keys, a window sticker, owner's manuals with a pouch, a toolkit, a clean CARFAX report, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: We are proud to present this fresh to market and exceptionally rare 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0. With only two owners over its 14-year history, this example has never before been publicly offered for sale. Originally delivered new by Porsche of San Diego, the car remained with its first owner until 2023, when it was sold in a private sale. We acquired the car directly from the second owner and are now making it available here for the first time. This RS 4.0 is superbly specified, featuring the highly desirable solid black full leather interior paired with carbon bucket seats. Additional highlights include deviated stitching, the extended carbon package, and dynamic cornering lights. The car comes fully complete with all original items, including the window sticker, books, and both keys. It is currently located at our dealership Isringhausen Porsche in Springfield, Illinois, where it may be inspected at any time. Trade-ins are welcome, please feel free to reach out by direct message.

@bobmilleriii Better get your bid in then, buddy. :)
@bobmilleriii PCCBs may add $50k, no where near $200k. This a nice bare bones spec; better driver than garage Queen. Though FAL would have been nice

The 4.0 is literally, I believe, THE single best 911 ever produced! It is absolutely gorgeous, immensely capable, amazingly reliable, and timeless! The mileage on this one is nothing for that chassis/engine and the only thing the original buyer could have done was to include ceramic brakes...but the steel system is certainly top level. Under $800 is absolutely silly for this car! Ceramics would probably push it closer to $1m, only because everyone wants those.

Anything below $800K will be an absolute bargain for this vehicle here. People have been getting the odd bargain here and there, so who knows.
I love my triple black 4.0…and my red CGT. Both 🐐’s. I drive them both.
Hope this one gets used.

Good luck to all, this is an awesome car, coming from an awesome dealer and expected to have an awesome future whether you're a collector or enthusiast. Not too many of them popping up anywhere, so take your chance and I hope someone will get into this amazing feat of German engineering!. It's true, they don't make them like they used to!.
There is now just under 24 hours left, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
@szangeneh Special 997 across the board have started to dry up in recent years. It’s great to see these cars get the appreciation they deserve, but not as great if you’re looking for one.
@nexusautobrokers Thank you, we agree!
@szangeneh Wow congrats what a car! Have never seen a red painted pcm in a 4.0.
@rmuldbakken: Yes, but they're getting less and much less. People are keeping them globally, that seems to be the trend. I don't know whether they drive them or not, but the trend shows a "buy & keep" approach from enthusiasts and collectors alike.
The ULTIMATE PORSCHE!
@szangeneh There is quite often 4.0 for sale here in Europe. Some advertised for long long time.
Hope people that buying them love Porsche and uses them, not just for investment!
@Isringhausen: Yes, I purchased No. 11 of 600, fully loaded Black one owner RS 4.0 that belonged to a famous German world cup soccer player wearing No. 11 Jersey all his career. 3500 miles on the clock. Porsche treated him as a VVIP and made him number 11 specially. This one is amazingly loaded EU German spec with some unique special wishes touches and additions like a Red special PCM painted surround spec'd by the owner. I'm lucky as I can import it into Canada in 2027 due to the 15 year import rules as opposed to USA's 25 year rule. It's being nicely stored for me by the selling dealer right now!. Super excited.

@szangeneh That makes sense. You do see some 4.0 pop up in Europe from time to time, but definitely not often.
@StuttgartAZ oh man that’s incredible! Would love to meet up sometime, will send you a DM.
@PALY93 oh thanks, have seen pics of the riviera GT2, but didn’t know where it was.
@Isringhausen I know quite a few European high end dealers of these kinds of vehicles, and one or two have been telling me that it's been super difficult - even in Europe - to get their hands on these vehicles as the owners are holding on to them unless they truly need money, in which case they will sell. Europe is also kind of drying up for these cars, which has not always been the case for highly desirable models of the past. True, in stead of being driven, they're ending up (most likely) in collector circles, but nonetheless there's a rarity globally.
@Isringhausen GT silver over terracotta but it is hand painted (on top of the PPF) by Pinstripe Chris (who is from SoCal). It was all over the place at car week. I put 1,500 miles on it in 5 days. One hell of a road trip car! I love the cars you guys bring to market. I’m in AZ if you (or @Paly93 or @szangeneh) ever come to town. I mostly lurk on here and bid under an old alias that somehow I can’t get in to anymore. 😂
@Isringhausen it's a 993. the riv 997.2 car is in Dubai (I think).
@StuttgartAZ you have the two goats! What color is your Carrera GT?
@PALY93 Sounds great, is your riviera blue GT2 a 997?
@GT3 Agree 100%
@PALY93 wow that is amazing… The dark sea blue 4.0 is a special one originally ordered new by Jeff Zwart.
@szangeneh Three 4.0!? That is incredible.
we did a CGT drive up in Napa a few years back. did a buyout at TFL. TK is a huge car guy. I also have a riv blue GT2. much smaller than the S/T.
@StuttgartAZ: More super enthusiast and lover of Porsche than a legend lol. I just love these special manual babies. Got myself a 911 S/T also in Riviera Blue, which is an absolute awesome and blast of a car to drive. Nothing matches it except the 997.2 RS 4.0 of course. Awesome is an understatement for both these models. They're epic, truly epic.
@szangeneh and @paly93 😂 you guys are legends! I only have one 7RS 4.0 but it’s amazing. I have a hand painted CGT which is the only car I place ahead of it. I will also accept Rupees for any sale. Lol
I was told that the blue cars are the fastest. that's why they cost more.
@GT3: Once you get over $500K for a car, the choice of whether to drive it or not is a mute point. That's already a lot of money, so if anyone gets to - let's say - $700K then I think that they likely could go the extra $200K for a black one. But then again, they may not. It's all a personal choice including whether you wish to drive and have fun with it, or just look at it as a garage queen. Point I'm making is that it's the buyer's choice so to what he or she may wish to do with the car. I know a guy who can't even drive a stick and bought one of these for the sheer pleasure of owning one. Good luck to all bidders........drive it, don't drive it, it's up to you. Power to all!.
Low spec white ones like these are the best to have and actually drive and have fun. Black isn’t worth $200k-$300k more. Never mind the (only 15) PTS ones in the US.
@PALY93: Lol!
Ryan is trying to low ball you. he said the same thing to me.
@PALY93: I have bought one which I'm not allowed to talk about (due to owner's request and condition of sale to me) for one year lol. The year is up in 10 months. I would then love to correspond with you and exchange notes. How do we DM? I don't know if it's possible on this platform. And, yes, $750K was a steal.......no way you will find another one for $750K unless it is in Indian Rupees lol. $1.8M to $2.2 is the going rate according to Ryan at Friedman cars.
I have three PTS cars as well. I should have four, But I turned down the dark sea blue car for some stupid reason. I think graham told me he could have gotten me that car for 750K at the time,
@PTScollect: These are super rare already in any format, and finding one fully loaded with PCCB's and all the other stuff you listed becomes even tougher, making the super rare a needle in a haystack. In my very humble opinion, adding one of these to your collection in any color, shape or form as long as it's not been hammered is an excellent idea. Finding ones with less than 10K miles on them will get tougher and tougher.
@PTScollect agreed
In a lighter side with options no PCCB, front lift,NAV, ion battery etc. nevertheless a rare find! GLWA!
@DJSANDHU: I was embarassed to say two, but I actually own three. The third one is a PTS!. I love all three.
@szangeneh TWO!?!?! Much respect.
@essrt8 yes sir in the paragraph above it states - The factory 19” GT3 center-lock wheels have been repainted in OEM GT Silver from their optional, black-painted finish.

Bid in the amount of $600,000
Awesome, absolutely and stunningly awesome vehicle. The mere fact that any of these actually come up for sale very rarely makes this even more desirable. I think the 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0 will be one of those vehicles that everyone will look back at in 5-10 yrs time, and kick themselves as today's prices would seem like a bargain. I already have two black ones, so good luck to whomever takes home this beauty.
@SpartyRob84 Thank you!
@NHCarguy Thank you very much!
Welcome to the auction of our 2011 GT3 RS 4.0 we are very excited to bring this car to market and to find it’s next caretaker. This is a no questions asked example with original paint and no over revs beyond stage two which is inconsequential according to Porsche. If you have any questions, please feel free to comment or send us a direct message and we will get back to you right away.
