The final iteration of the legendary Mezger engine and the swan song of the 997 generation, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 was built to homologate the GT3 RSR race car using the same 4.0-liter flat-six engine. Limited to only 613 examples, the 4.0 features lightweight carbon fiber bucket seats, a carbon fiber hood and front fenders, front canards, a 6-speed manual transmission, a limited-slip differential, dynamic engine mounts, and a unique exterior graphics package. This example is finished in Carrara White over a black and red leather and Alcantara interior. It was factory-optioned with ceramic brakes (PCCB), the Front Axle Lift System, Dynamic Cornering Lights, Sound Package Plus, Sport Chrono Package Plus, Extended Carbon Package, air vents and seatbelt outlets in carbon fiber, a rear center console in carbon fiber, sun visors in Alcantara, clear taillights, a lightweight lithium-ion battery, and wheels painted in GT Silver Metallic. Cared for by two owners since new, this highly sought-after 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0 is now being offered for auction out of Florida with only 319 miles showing on the odometer.
Compared to a standard 997.2 GT3 RS, the 4.0 is optimized with a lightweight carbon fiber hood and front fenders, aerodynamic front canards, front wheel arch extensions, and a carbon fiber rear wing with revised endplates. This example is finished in Carrara White with contrasting silver and red stripe graphics. Equipment includes optional Dynamic Cornering bi-xenon headlights, headlamp washers, optional clear LED taillights, daytime running lights, side skirts, a ram air scoop engine cover, dual center-mounted tailpipes, yellow ceramic brakes calipers, and 19” center-lock wheels in GT Silver Metallic. The seller states the car is preserved in like-new condition; detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin features black leather and Alcantara upholstery accented by red Alcantara on the seat centers, armrests, and headliner. Accessories include lightweight carbon fiber full bucket seats with embroidered headrests, seatbelts in Guards Red, a three-spoke Alcantara steering wheel, the optional Extended Carbon Package, air vents and seatbelt outlets in carbon fiber, a rear center console in carbon fiber, sun visors in Alcantara, a Porsche-crested storage bin lid, an aluminum footrest, automatic climate control, auto-dimming mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, Sound Package Plus, a Sport Chrono dashboard stopwatch, and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with extended navigation.
Borrowed directly from the contemporary GT3 RSR racecar, the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine was the largest engine ever offered in a road-going 911. It features forged pistons, titanium connecting rods, VarioCam variable valve timing dynamic engine mounts, a revised intake, and a high-flow sport exhaust system with titanium tailpipes. Up to 500 HP and 339 lb-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The car comes standard with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) featuring adjustable coilovers. This example was also optioned with Front Axle Lift System, Sport Chrono Package Plus, a lightweight lithium-ion battery, and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB).
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Brand new, fully loaded example of 2011 3RS 4.0—this car will continue to rise in value. It is one of the best naturally aspirated Porsches ever made, and only about 130 were brought into the US. Don’t miss your chance; these don’t come for sale often.”

@carbuyer5000. Love to hear that. Carrera GT is my dream car. The 997.2 3RSes is a close second.
Congrats @nosubstitute4porsche !! Enjoy it!!!
@PCARBYER I disagree. I bought mine with 3 digits mileage a few years ago and I’ve since put a few thousand miles on it. Same with the Carrera GT. And same for all my cars. Heck I have over 10,000 miles on my McLaren P1! The mindset of the seller doesn’t automatically transfer to the mindset of the buyer. I don’t pass judgment on whether these cars are investments or not. For me these kinds of cars are an investment in my happiness. I do see them as valuable assets that, if push came to shove and I had to sell them, they will still have some value even if I drive them as long as they are properly maintained and loved on.
Well done - enjoy!!
@nosubstitute4porsche Congrats!
I stand corrected, congrats to @nosubstitute4porsche
Congratulations @Duke2375
@nosubstitute4porsche congrats! Amazing bidding, I look forward to my post warm up go! 😆

E P I C !!!
Wow amazing number!!!!! Congrats to all
thanks guys be well!
@macroad just tryin to help u not getting testy at all..
Good luck to the new buyer
Sorry I meant to say my GT3 RS 4.0 NOW has a few thousand miles on it. I think it had about 700 miles on it when I bought it. The guy who sold it to me was stupid to sell it. It’s like the 458 Speciale Aperta - if you have one of those and (a) you love to drive, (b) you have good places to drive it and (c) you don’t need the money from selling it then you should NEVER sell it. I don’t know this seller’s motivation but you couldn’t pry mine away from me for two million dollars. They made less than half of the number of these than they did of Carrera GTs and couldn’t pry my Carrera GT away from me either!
@nosubstitute4porsche might do in the future… for now will keep it quiet off market-
@Coleweinstein Still over a mil.
@Coleweinstein Didn't think this would even get to what yours was listed for!
@nosubstitute4porsche I'm good brother, no need to get testy! Duke Nuke em' a man of silence though, got to be respected. Good luck to both, come bring it to Sonoma Raceway when you win.
@Coleweinstein give pcarmkt a call.. they are great guys

@PCARMARKET Great call. Nothing wrong even if there were dealers bidding. Why not, they're allowed to bid too like anyone else. This is an open bidding platform for all!.
If it hits 1M, do the zeros rollover like in an odometer?
@nosubstitute4porsche that’s why his comment was removed. Very distasteful and disrespectful to the bidders
@nosubstitute4porsche you can follow me in my 992.1T to build our trust to the next level 😂
Bid in the amount of $990,917
@userabc123 WRONG.. Not a dealer on my end
Bid in the amount of $990,000
Whoever wins this just get me a Cayman GT4 so your car looks much cooler next to me. It’s like having a gold fish next to an exotic ocean fish. Then we can go on drives together, deal?

What could you get for this amount of money? 5 speeches from Kamala, the Australians just paid $200k for one of her speeches (word salads), or ten photos with Obama at $100k a piece. I would still buy this 4.0.
They really are Duke2375ing it out. No substitute 4 this Porsche.

@Mandinga Ya, kinda
Bid in the amount of $972,917

Bid in the amount of $972,000
@nosubstitute4porsche I kid you not. I had the chance to buy a mint 300 SL Gullwing for $300K several years ago and got scared and passed on it. Look at them today, you'd be lucky to find one below $2.0M
Bid in the amount of $970,917

@szangeneh Skinny dip!
My only contribution is that I own a diecast of this exact car, that I'm currently looking at. But once the bidding ends, I'll get in my E92 M3 and pretend the S65 is a Metzger while I wipe away my poverty tears.
@szangeneh or what was inside them :)
Other than displacement and rarity how similar are these to drive vs a 997 3.8RS?
Bid in the amount of $966,917
@macroad I am a swimmer alright, it's just that my wife took away my swim shorts lol!
Bid in the amount of $966,167
Elated to be here for this! GLWA!
A million dollar car shares the same dashboard parts as my 987.2 Cayman S. Cool. (Which is about where similarities end)
I'm not much of a swimmer, prefer to enjoy a cold beverage in my lounge chair lol @nosubstitute4porsche

Bid in the amount of $946,158
Bid in the amount of $945,908
@CarBuyer5000 I agree with every single word you said. I have two, a Black and a PTS. I've owned a variety of cars throughout my life including Astons, Bimmers, Mercs, other Porsches and everything in between. This is an amazing and special car that will look and feel just as great ten years from now.
Bid in the amount of $944,944
All of this talk about how amazing it drives is great and all.. but if you are buying a car with 3 digit miles that is over 10 years old and paying a premium for it... you are 99% not driving it
Bid in the amount of $944,000
If this ends below $1.1M then this car got stolen! I have one of these, among 17 other high-end Porsches and a bunch of even fancier stuff. Let me tell you, THIS CAR IS AMAZING! Porsche hasn’t made anything else like it. It’s small, nimble, relatively light (3,118 with a full tank of gas), and the steering, brakes and transmission are top notch It’s wonder on road and super fun on track. I paid $600K for mine many years ago with a few thousand miles on it and it’s easily as good as cars fetching well over $1M now. They only made 600 of these and they’re very rare. You won’t regret buying this car if you actually drive it. Like the 964 RS, this is a GOLDILOCKS CAR - it’s not the most powerful but it has the RIGHT amount of power. It’s not the lightest but it’s the right weight for what it is. It has just the right amount of grip and downforce but still lets you play in the corners if you want. It’s got a lovely transmission that will make you want to row through the gears whenever you can. It’s got super supportive seats but not ones that will hurt you after an hour of driving. Everything feels just right.
It’s a super practical car to enjoy on a regular basis. AC is great. Seats are comfortable. Driving position is excellent. Has great trunk space. The only thing it’s missing is the new CarPlay-equipped radio and apparently Porsche is working on it. They have one already for the 997.1 models but they say one is coming for the 997.2 model which this falls under.
I can’t say enough positive things about this car.

Good luck to all , last 45 min !!!! Hope someone get this beauty !!!
That’s probably a better deal. Broken in already.
Doing a quick search of the market now , the closest 4.0 to this build at Graham Rahal’s , with 4500 miles asking 900k
@PCARBYER great advice !
@ABitSlo You should buy this one and mark it up at the dealership like the others :)
@ABitSlo this car is stock and nothing ever altered !
I did not have time to review the build - is this a rare decal delete car with decals added back on?
@ABitSlo yes we can if you would like , since this car has almost no miles on it , we recommend taking out the transmission all together
I bought a car here last week thinking it was automatic, and turned out to be manual. I understand this is a manual as well.
@mildcollectionllc can you convert this to Tiptronic for me if I’m the successful high bidder?
Bid in the amount of $868,888
@nosubstitute4porsche the front lift works perfectly , we have used it while taking it off the truck that shipped it to us , and the correct battery charger is there as well , thank you
@seller hello has there been any verification that the front lift operates correctly? I ask simply because the front lift has been an area of concern of which I have experienced faults with.
If I may also ask about the current condition of the battery status and if a correct battery charger for the lightweight battery conveys with the car. Thank you for bringing your car(s) here
I have two of these beasts, a black one and a PTS. These are special rare vehicles, to be driven and enjoyed. I did not buy new either, so I did pay way way above sticker, multiples above sticker, but I'm glad I did. Investment is a funny word to use with these or any car. At the end of the day, it's a bunch of metal, engine, nuts and bolts, etc. If one is worried about losing value on these, that's impossible, or very little chance let's say. You won't lose but gaining and how much gain are open questions. Whomever buys these or any cars must buy the car to get pure enjoyment out of it through driving or through the sheer ownership experience of something so awesome and rare. I will make zero comments about the price here as I don't wish to add fuel to an already hot auction, nor do I want to drive the prices up. But, they don't make these any longer and these are super super special cars to own and to drive. I will just leave it at that, and good luck to the bidders!.
Bid in the amount of $860,000
@PCARBYER @PCARBYER- very good question , we wish to be able to keep all the cars we get , as we only specialize in the rare investment pieces , unfortunately not enough capital to keep all , so have to keep stuff moving at a pt to be able to buy new inventory ! But honostly not sure what’s more profitable at this point
@mildcollectionllc Why not keep it if it's only going up?
@bobmilleriii I think it's more a commentary on 2 things.
1) Investors have been warping the car community and car culture to be more about the profits/scalping and less about the experience of owning and driving.
2) If you truly are trying to invest there are few cars that have beaten the S&P 500 in the long run (there are some, but the vast majority lose) so if your goal is to strictly purchase for investiment sake? Just invest in the S&P.
But at the end of the day I do agree with you. Just buy what you like and love what you love. If car culture to you is like collecting paintings to admire, who's to say you're wrong. Given the choice I'd probably take this over a Rembrandt (poor finacial decision but it's a 4.0, come on). It's a cool car with some wild design/engineering history behind it. If it were me? I'd probably want a DeMan Motorsport 4.5L 997 GT3 so I could drive it and not feel bad but I'm not in this bidding competition so my opinion doesn't matter much.
To the folks actually involved: GLWTA
@PCARBYER you know there was someone about 14 years back buying this car new saying exactly the same thing , oh this isn’t an investment piece just a car , it hasn’t stop appreciating since than
@PCARBYER that statement would be right if you are purchasing a 2025 hybrid GTS lol , this is the best and one of the most limited Porsche’s ever made ! It will not stop appreciating EVER, no matter what the Msrp was , as years go by these cars become less existent and the demand just goes higher wich drives the value ! So this is def an INVESTMENT CAR !
IMO, this is one of THE best ever made by Porsche. Stylish, wonderful to drive, reliable, fun, talkative to the driver, and, YES, an excellent investment. Think of the production numbers today from Porsche, and then realize that this is one of only 613!!! That kind of limited production essentially no longer exists. Buy it, enjoy it, and then enjoy the appreciation. Yes, buy what you like for sure, but there are absolutely cars which are wonderful investments for the future...the 4.0 is one of them...
I would not call a car an "investment piece".. especially when you buying it at X multiples above its list price to begin with. Yes, it may go up or may go down- but cars not investments lol, just buy what you like and if it holds value, that's just an added bonus.
Last day of auction on this super rare brand new investment piece !!! Good luck to all the bidders , you will not be disappointed with this one !!
Bid in the amount of $858,888
I’d take this over a singer any day! I couldn’t resist the urge to drive it though. Maybe a hi def poster on my wall and a you tube vid of it in action would do!
