Now up for auction is this 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible finished in Kona Blue Metallic over a Charcoal Black leather interior with silver accents. Based on the fifth-generation S197 Mustang, the Shelby GT500 was developed by Ford’s Special Vehicles Team (SVT) and features a 550 HP supercharged V8 engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This example was acquired by the seller from its original owner in 2012 with only 1,400 miles traveled from new.  Equipped with the optional Electronics Package and Shaker 1000 audio system along with an upgraded K&N cold air intake and Eibach Sportline lowering springs, this GT500 is now being offered for auction by its second owner out of New York with approximately 17,600 miles showing on the odometer.

This GT500 is finished in Kona Blue Metallic (L6) with silver over-the-top Le Mans racing stripes and a black convertible soft top. The seller reports paint protection film to have been applied to the front bumper and vertical surfaces of the hood. The seller also notes a small scuff on the driver’s door, some road-going wear on the front splitter, and a small nick on one of the wheels. Detailed photos are available in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report. Some GT500-specific features include an aluminum power dome hood with functional heat extractors, a larger radiator grille, unique front and rear bumper covers, a rear duckbill spoiler with integrated third brake light, and a rear valance with dual exhaust tips. Cobra badges appear on the front grille, trunk lid, and both front fenders. Standard features include bi-xenon headlights and sequential LED taillights. This GT500 retains its factory 19” forged aluminum GT500 wheels which are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires showing date codes from 2014.

The cabin features 6-way power-adjustable sport bucket seats upholstered in Charcoal leather with silver stripes. A Cobra-badged multi-function steering wheel sits ahead of a 160-MPH speedometer and 6,200 RPM tachometer. This example was ordered with the Electronics Package, which equips Ford SYNC with navigation, dual-zone climate control, and digital music storage. The optional Shaker 1000 audio system was also selected, which supplies 1000 watts of power to 10 speakers and two additional 500-watt subwoofers mounted in the trunk. A hardwired connection for a Valentine 1 radar detector has been installed and the seller notes some minor wear on the driver’s seat, photos are available in the gallery.

The GT500 is powered by a 5.4L supercharged Modular V8 constructed of aluminum, which shaves over 100 lbs. off the previous generation's cast-iron engine. It was factory rated at 550 HP and 510 lb.-ft of torque and allows the GT500 to reach 60 MPH from a standstill in as little as 4.3 seconds while passing the quarter-mile in 12.4 seconds. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential. The 2011 GT500 was the first to receive Ford’s Electric Power-Assist steering that improves torque build-up and delivers quicker and more precise steering. The current owner has also added a K&N cold air intake and Eibach Sportline lowering springs; the original parts are also said to accompany the sale. The owner reports to have extensive maintenance records and notes the transmission was replaced by Ford at 9k miles under warranty. The brakes were also serviced and fitted with new pads in May of 2020 about 1k miles ago.

This sale will include the original window sticker and a clean title. With its striking color combination and low mileage, this 2011 Shelby GT500 presents a great opportunity to get behind the wheel of a modern high-performance muscle car and future classic.

I'd like to thank all of the bidders and commenters up to this point for their interest in this great GT500.

I will be monitoring the auction over the next few hours, so please feel free to reach out with any questions.

This car wont win any lap records but it will deliver a raw and visceral driving experience. There are not too many other options when looking for a supercharged engine and a manual transmission. One could argue a coupe is a better performance car, but we all know a GTR or 911 turbo is faster, so why not drop the top and enjoy the deep V8 exhaust and whine from the supercharger? There is more to this driving experience than 0-60 and lap times. I wish the best to the bidders.

Smart way to diversify collection, as an additional, alternative to Porsche.

Epic example of a highly desirable Collectable with longterm appreciation. Looking for this probably to exceed $50k.

Should be a great auction to watch. ???

@snowtx1 Thank you for your kind words and your bids.

    To answer your questions:
    1. Driver front, Driver Rear, Passenger Rear are from 2014, Passenger front is from 2016. There are no signs of dry-rot and have significant tread remaining. I replaced the original Goodyear Eagle F1's with Michelin Pilot Super Sports. There was a noticeable difference between the two with the Michelin offering superior ride comfort and handling.

    2. The transmission was replaced in September 2014. The original transmission would grind on the 1-2 shift, with the clutch fully depressed. I'm not a mechanic, so I don't fully know why. The local dealership offered to replace the transmission under warranty and I did not object. I have not had any transmission issues in the seven years or ~7k miles since. Perhaps the original unit was faulty? I can only speculate.

    3. There has been no other major work done to the car.

    4. Maintenance records include regular oil changes, tire receipts, recall work (Takata airbag), and brake system service/replacements.

    5. It does have satellite radio, any continued subscription will be at the buyers discretion. SYNC also features Bluetooth music (you can play from a device wirelessly).

    6. Despite the well in the trunk, the GT500 did not come with a spare tire/wheel, just the pump and goo kit.

    7. The V-1 is hardwired from the top of the windshield. The cord can be tapered or drawn further to allow placement below or either side of the rearview mirror. My personal preference is above and left or centered underneath the rearview mirror. The V1 is not included in the sale.

I hope this answers your questions. Please let me know if any others arise. Thank you for your interest!

@dschwartz beautiful looking car. Can you tell me how old the tires are? Also, why did Ford replace the transmission at 9k? Has there been any other major work done to the car? Can you detail out what is covered by the maintenance records? Also, does it have satellite radio? I saw the antenna on the trunk lid. Is the spare tire and wheel matching and available? Where is the Valentine 1 hardwire mounted, and is the unit included? Thx for the info.
