Paying tribute to Porsche’s victory at the 2007 Transsyberian Rally, the Porsche Cayenne S Transsyberia was produced as a limited edition, with only 285 units being sold out of a planned 600-unit production run. These Cayenne’s came equipped with a 4.5-liter V8 engine derived from the GTS model and feature air suspension, a sport exhaust system, and a special trim package. This 2010 example is said to be one of just 31 Transsyberia’s finished in Meteor Gray Metallic with Crystal Silver Metallic contrasting decals for North America over a Black leather interior. It features bi-xenon headlights, Park Assist, 18″ Cayenne S II alloy wheels, heated power-adjustable front seats, PCM, navigation, a Bose sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, and cruise control. This Transsyberia is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California showing approximately 104k miles on the odometer.

The Cayenne Transsyberia comes equipped with steel skid plates as standard, along with reinforced underbody protection, and a second two hook point along with contrasting accents for the mirrors, wheels, front grilles, and the upper part of the extended roof spoiler. This example is finished in Meteor Gray Metallic with Crystal Silver Metallic accents, side model designations, and 18" Cayenne S wheels with painted wheel arch extensions wrapped in BFGoodrich All-Terrain Ko2 tires. Options include Bi-Xenon headlights with washers, a moonroof, roof rails in Black, and a trailer hitch receiver. Additional equipment includes fog lights, a rear window wiper, and quad exhaust outlets. The seller notes that 3M ceramic window tint was applied in April 2022, a manufacturer’s recall for the headlight sealing caps was addressed in January 2023, and the CARFAX report shows minor damage to the passenger rear and side. Additionally, the seller reports some scrapes on the front and rear bumper covers and that the driver’s front fender was repainted due to clear coat failure. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features special trim and is upholstered in Black leather and Alcantara with heated and power-adjustable front seats. Options include the Light Comfort Package with Memory, a Bose Surround Sound System, front and rear Park Assist, a ski bag, a universal audio interface, a Bluetooth phone interface, an XM satellite radio receiver, and Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with navigation. Standard equipment consists of silver instrumentation, a power-adjustable steering column, dual-zone automatic climate control and cruise control, and a three-spoke multifunction Alcantara wrapped steering wheel with Tiptronic shift buttons, silver contrast stitching, and a 12 O’clock marking. The seller notes a mark on the driver’s side rear door panel handle and some cracks in the tailgate trim, along with reporting replaced the A/C blower motor in October 2022, refurbished the PCM module in November 2022, and replaced the rear glass and tailgate struts in February 2023. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are said to function as intended, with no warning lights present.

Powered by a naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V8, the Cayenne S Transsyberia derives its engine from the Cayenne GTS and sends up to 405 HP and 396 lb.-ft. of torque to all four wheels through a 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, a variable center differential, a dual-range transfer case, and a unique 4.1:1 final drive ratio and Porsche Traction Management (PTM) with a specific 62% rear torque bias. Other standard equipment includes air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), a sport exhaust system, and Porsche Stability Management (PSM). Maintenance performed since March 2022 is said to include the replacement of the thermostat, the coolant expansion tank, and the brake booster vacuum hose. Additionally, an oil change was performed in January 2024, and the CARFAX reports that the driveshaft was replaced in March 2019. There is a rattle from the valved sport exhaust during cold starts.

This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, some documentation, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: "We have really enjoyed owning this car for two and a half years in sunny Southern California and have kept up with all regular maintenance to keep things trouble-free. The Cayenne has taken us up the coast to San Francisco, out to the desert in Palm Springs and Anza Borrego, around Los Angeles and Orange Counties, to Big Bear through a snowstorm, and has never given us a problem. The 405 HP engine with sport exhaust is always fun on the freeway and over Mountain Passes, while the capabilities of the four-wheel drive system are impressive in snow and desert sand. I hope this Cayenne goes to a home where it will continue to be taken care of and enjoyed."

Good morning everyone, last full day of the auction here. I will be near the Cayenne all day today if anyone would like additional pictures, information, etc. I will not be with the vehicle tomorrow. Thanks for checking out the listing and I hope to see the Cayenne go to a great new home.

@JoeLA Happy to recommend some mechanics if you'd like to have specific items looked at before placing a bid or ask about specific fittings, etc. Please let me know.

  • JoeLA (registered bidder) 3 monthsago

Hi Jbowser5 - I believe 1) The fitting can be seen by a mechanic using a mirror, and 2) I have seen on forums that the 2010 had the non plastic fitting fix. This is all different than the 955s which had plastic coolant line that had catastrophic failures?

  • Jbowser5 (seller) 3 monthsago

@JoeLA The Carfax states the drive/carden shaft was replaced. I don't know that I would call it fixed...but the one on the car and support (part that fails) are presumably newer than 2010.

I thought all 957s were plastic, but the design was changed from the 955 and it was way less failure-prone. I believe Porsche makes an aluminum replacement, but I don't know if it was ever installed from factory or which type this Cayenne has. After the expansion tank cracked on me in a non-ideal location with my family in the car, I had that replaced and the coolant system pressure tested several times trying to preventatively identify small leaks. Nothing was found. That part could be checked or swapped preventatively, but I believe it is a fairly involved process for something not known to fail.

Jbowser5 That's helpful info and perspective, yes. Great on drive shaft. So Carden Shaft is fixed? Also, did 2010 see an upgrade on the fittings for the coolant lines? I know 2008-2009 still used plastic fittings?

@JoeLA I had the Cayenne looked over by a trusted mechanic right after purchasing, but that did not include a bore scope. Since I have owned it, it has been serviced by two highly regarded German mechanics in San Diego as well as Porsche San Diego with their video inspections, all of which said the Cayenne, engine and transmission were in great working order, which has been my experience. If you would like to have a PPI or bore scope performed, I am happy to see if we can set that up for you.

Some say its cold weather vs. warm weather, others say its oil change intervals, and still others say its a manufacturing defect. This truck has not exhibited any symptoms indicative of scoring (ticking, increased oil consumption, soot, cylinder misfires, etc.) so my not-professional opinion is that you can bid with confidence.

Regarding the Carfax history, it should be read with a grain of salt. For example, I had an oil change performed around 89k miles (image 131) that is not showing on the Carfax. At 88k miles, I stopped by Dennis Sherman to have the guys pressure test the coolant system before a trip out of town (it was great) and that is reporting as a tire repair! The history on this car shows regular oil changes back to at least 60,000 miles (100, 95, 89, 85, 72, 70, 65, 62?, 42, etc.) and assuming some of the "Recommended maintenance performed" entries include an oil change, I felt comfortable with the Cayenne's history.

A highlight for me on the Carfax is the driveshaft replacement in 2019. That's not something you typically see on a Carfax in error and is a key weak spot on these Cayenne's. I do not have any records prior to my ownership.

Hi Seller - I am perplexed as why the bidding stopped at $25 on BaT. One thing about 957s that gives me pause is the bore scoring risk. Has any PPI been done to check for that? This one is a warm weather 957, so that is good. But the oil change history on Carfax doesnt look good. Do you have some additional records or info on that history?

  • Jbowser5 (seller) 3 monthsago

@BigBearJoe thank you. Hoping the Cayenne can find a new home here on PCARMarket. BaT was an odd auction, nobody seemed to be in the room…

  • BigBearJoe 3 monthsago

Well, the bids have now equaled the BAT final bid. GLWA.
