Launched in 2009, the updated 997.2 generation Porsche 911 GT3 featured an enlarged 3.8-liter Mezger flat-six engine and revised aerodynamic bodywork. One of only 654 U.S. market examples, this 2010 Porsche 997.2 GT3 is finished in Guards Red over Black leather and Alcantara upholstery. It features the Sport Chrono Package Plus, Guards Red seatbelts, the Sound Package Plus, and more. Showing just over 20k miles on the odometer, this GT3 is now being offered for auction out of Oregon.
Compared to the original 997 GT3, the 997.2 version offers significantly increased downforce with revised front and rear spoilers. This example is finished in traditional Guards Red and rides on factory 19” GT3 center-lock wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Front-end paint protection film is applied, and detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is appointed with Black leather and Alcantara upholstery. Options include exclusive Guards Red seatbelts, the Sound Package Plus, a Bluetooth phone interface, a Universal audio interface, XM Radio, and PCM 3.0 with Extended Navigation. Additionally, the Sport Chrono Package Plus adds a lap timer dial to the center dashboard.
Factory-rated at 435 HP and 317 lb-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated 3.8-liter Mezger flat-six engine features dry-sump lubrication, titanium connecting rods, VarioCam variable valve timing, and a two-stage resonance induction system. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The seller notes that a center muffler bypass has been installed, and the CARFAX report shows 12 service history entries.
This sale will include a clean title.

@Bruno911 100% of the 98% RS. Plus, for most the more comfortable 14-way sport seats, lack of roll bar, and slightly higher (numerically lower) rear axle ratio make for a greater usage envelope. Not exactly a commuter car but one that's fun to take for a quick errand or to drop by a friend's house or man cave. I've driven them them back-to-back on back roads. Essentially no difference even on the butt dyno. I think what makes it so, is that the performance limit between the 2 is so high that you're never really there except and unless you're at the track. At least not safely on the street.
I think of my 7.2 GT3 as the 997 version of the GT3 touring. To me, it's perfect. I tell my wife that every day :-)

@Bruno911 100% agree. We think in short time, these non RS cars are going to get the attention they deserve.
Still half price of a 997.2 GT3 RS and it’s 98% of the car.
What a beautiful GT3. Lots of appreciation potential here and currently underbid IMHO. This might take 200k + to drive home.

@Huntercreek1 If you would have liked to do a PPI, it would have needed to be done prior to the auction closing. If you want to call us and ask questions about the car over the phone, please reach out to us and ask for Nik.
Please send me the PPI on this car. thank you

@laurinap yes the paint meter readings read higher because of the PPF on the front end. If you subtract the ~8 mils of thickness for the PPF, the car reads all original paint.
Beautiful GT3. All of the 997.2 models are an outstanding choice, in particular the GT3 and Turbo S.
Bid in the amount of $158,000
These are a relative bargain. Very sweet and desirable Porsche, IMHO. I'd probably put on black wheels and side decals, but that's just me. Looks great as it sits though.
@gpmotors can you confirm the paint readings on the front fenders and hood are because of PPF applied?
Bid in the amount of $155,000
I have a 997.1 GT3. One of the best 911 made. Probably the last modern 911 that feels like an old air cool. Someone will be very happy. Very!!!
@gsjdvm Yes

GT3 range 1 on the DME report starts at 9000 RPMs. That’s 500 over redline. Most GT3s have clean DMEs for this reason. They can be overrevved to a small degree without registering even a range 1. You really have to money shift one of these to get above 9000rpms and get a range 1 or higher reading. You can run these cars into and through redline on acceleration a million times and the DME will still be “clean”.
@gpmotors this is correct
Bid in the amount of $125,000
@bphillyer All 3 owners were perfect drivers, accoreding to the overrev report. The operating hours show over 600 hours which is accurate for the mileage on the car. We've seen many GT3s with perfect DME's, but theres also a lot without it!
If the DME had been wipped, it would also reset the engine hours.
@elimiz The front end has PPF on it. It covers the front bumper, hood, and fenders.

What’s with the higher paint meter readings on the front two quarter panels and frunk ? Has it been painted ?
Beautiful car. Looks well cared for.
Please help me understand the DME Report's figures. I see zeros in each column, nothing more. Is this simply an absence of data, or were all 3 owners perfect drivers? Or did someone accidentally scrub this data?
Operating hours shows 616.2 hours. One would expect to see at least a few minor infractions here.
GLWTA!

Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
Is there a copy of the original window sticker available? DME report?
Thanks.
This 997.2 GT3 is perhaps the pinnacle of the Mezger engine GT3s. The very last vestiges of analog engineering and a direct descendant of the OG GT3. I personally prefer the GT3 over the RS, with the NB good looks and the comfort and convenience of the less track focused interior.
These are modern day classics and I believe destined to become amongst the most desirable GT3 iterations in the coming years. Plus, they are fun to drive and my wife will actually ride along and enjoy it.
For those unaccustomed with a 997.2 GT3, beware, while docile to drive they are very high performance minimal compromise GT cars. The handling limits are exceptionally high which means if trouble comes, it comes quickly. For most, myself included (former HPDE instructor), the limits of these cars are greater than the skills of most experienced drivers/enthusiasts.
What a beautiful example here. GLWA
amazing... perfect color!
@1xfatboy the last owner is a very good client of ours. They had the car to try it out and wanted a 991.2 instead which they traded this car in for.
Bid in the amount of $80,997
While short ownership is worth investigating, I don’t personally find it surprising in this market and this echelon of car. People think they know what it’s like to own these cars until they do. Usually it’s as simple as too much car
Bid in the amount of $77,000
@1xfatboy I too want the answer to that question.

@Patwacokid there is no paint work on the car. From my knowledge, the car has not been tracked, and does not need anything.
