Launched in 2009, the updated 997.2 generation Porsche 911 GT3 featured an enlarged 3.8-liter Mezger flat-six engine and revised aerodynamic bodywork. One of only 654 U.S. market examples, this 2010 Porsche 997.2 GT3 is finished in Black with a Maritime Blue vinyl wrap. It showcases a Black full leather interior with optional deviated stitching, painted trim pieces, heated Adaptive Sport Seats, Guards Red seatbelts, Sport Chrono Package Plus, and Sound Package Plus. The car has also been modified with a Patrick Motorsports GT3 RS 4.0 lightweight flywheel and clutch kit, an iPE valved cat-back exhaust, and a Pioneer stereo with wireless Apple CarPlay. Purchased by the current owner in 2023, this rare 997.2 GT3 is now being offered for auction out of California with less than 50k miles showing on the odometer.

This 997.2 wears a Maritime Blue vinyl Inozetek wrap which covers the factory color of Black. The seller notes that the vehicles exterior was recently ceramic coated. The exterior features a GT3-specific fascia with an upper radiator vent, a front chin spoiler, a fixed body-colored rear wing, a vented GT3-specific rear bumper, LED taillights, dual center-mounted tailpipes, red brake calipers, and 19” GT3 center-lock wheels. New rear tires were recently installed, and the front tires were replaced less than a year ago, within the last 1k miles. The seller states a full glass-out repaint was performed in 2021 to address cosmetic wind damage, and the associated insurance claim resulted in the damage reported on CARFAX.

The cabin is appointed with Black leather and Alcantara upholstery accented by optional Guards Red deviated stitching, Guards Red seatbelts, and Black-panted trim throughout. Other accessories include heated Adaptive Sport Seats, a three-spoke Alcantara steering wheel, an Alcantara gear knob, GT3-branded door sills, a Sport Chrono dashboard stopwatch, automatic climate control, cruise control, a remote central locking system, an onboard computer, Sound Package Plus, and an aftermarket Pioneer head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay. The original Porsche Communication Management (PCM) head unit is included in the sale.

Rated at 435 HP and 317 lb-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated 3.8-liter Mezger flat-six engine features dry-sump lubrication, titanium connecting rods, VarioCam variable valve timing, and a two-stage resonance induction system. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The transmission has been upgraded with a Patrick Motorsports GT3 RS 4.0 lightweight flywheel and clutch kit, and the engine features an iPE valved cat-back exhaust system. The seller notes that there was also a transmission fluid change at this time. The seller adds that the car underwent a 60k-mile service, including new spark plugs, coil packs, a coolant expansion tank, a new drive belt, an oil change, new wipers, and cabin & engine air filters.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a tire inflator, the original stereo, the original dual-mass flywheel, red wheel center locks, and a clean title. The dash cam is not included in the sale.

The seller would like you to know: “Owning a GT3 has always been my dream since I saw it on Motorweek back in the year 2001. The 997.2 with a 3.8 Mezger paired with a 6-speed manual has been the ultimate car to own! You could daily drive it if you wanted to, and I did sporadically! It has been an absolute pleasure owning this head-turning machine. I've never received so many thumbs up in my life haha. Time to move her onto the next caretaker, Cheers!”

@Puddinhead Blue is my favorite color so decided to try out a wrap instead of a permanent color change haha. The wrap comes off easily and original paint will be fine underneath as it was ceramic coated as well. Thank you and enjoy your GT!

@luis.seneriz Hi Luis, yes please see the entire set of pictures. Black is the original color. Blue is my favorite color so thought why not wrap it, it can easily be removed if not desired by the next owner. Thanks.

Curious why wrap an "excellent" original pcar ? Love the money spent to upgrade car. I have a similar Mezger 997.1 but 3.6 and it's paint has chicken scratches and some weather damage but not wrapped.

@Jaynar. You mentioned below on the comment to KHJ, that the entire car was painted. So I just want to understand, after the scratches the car was painted black and then it was wrapped in the blue? Like your driving video and definitely love the car. I’m really interested in it. Thanks Luis in Texas.

@KHJ Also the obvious… collisions usually involve body panels being replaced or repaired. In this case none of which were required. Thanks.

  • jaynar (seller) 2 days, 10 hoursago

@KHJ The entire car was painted which includes painting the bumper. The plastic on the headlights got scratched too obviously so the insurance opted to replace them rather than refinish them. They do have PPF on them as well now. Again no collision.

Can you tell us a bit more about the repair work at Bugs? The descriptions read like there was a bit more damage than scratches from a flapping tarp… overhaul bumper assembly plus brand new headlight assembly? Was there also a collision?

@bphillyer Thank you! I really wanted this GT to be my forever car and I know I will regret selling. I actually decided to sell off a few cars in my collection and invest elsewhere, travel more, wind down basically. Clutch start switch is something I never had an issue with that would be prior owners. Looks like it would have been a faulty switch replaced under warranty. Thank you.

    Beautiful GT3!

The wrap color really works well, too.

Why are you selling? These 997.2 GT3’s are hard to find.

“Clutch start switch replaced” on 12/20/11
"Clutch start switch replaced” on 8/28/12

Can you help me understand why this was done, twice?

    Nest Wishes,
    GLWA!

Is there any chance of seeing the car in person?

  • jaynar (seller) 4 days, 20 hoursago

@MagrudersMotors The wind damage to the car occurred because the prior owner had it parked outside for a few days when getting some work done in the garage. The car was covered with a tarp (turned out to be a bad idea) Unfortunately, high winds caused the tarp to flap around causing scratches all over the car, and an insurance claim was made. Stockton is known for high winds, California does not get hail like other states, if it does it’s minor. Hail damage would be listed on Carfax if there ever is. You can also see the repair order from the body shop, no dents were needed to be removed because there weren’t any. As far as the front end damage on Carfax in 2018 was because the front lip tore off I was told. Again no accidents involving any other motor vehicles otherwise it would be specified as such on Carfax. Thank you.

What is the story with the "wind damage"? I assume it was from hail or some kind of inclement weather? And any detail on the minor front end damage in 2018? The wrap looks like it was very professionally installed, great choice in color. I'm sure you wanted to preserve that expensive paint job! The car looks fantastic.

    Thanks
