The updated 997.2 generation Porsche 911 was launched for the 2009 model year, featuring an improved direct fuel-injected engine and a new 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission. Among the rarest variants of the 997.2, this 2009 Porsche 911 Targa 4S is finished in Meteor Grey Metallic over a Black and Terracotta interior. It also features 19” Turbo wheels, a limited-slip rear differential lock, dynamic cornering headlights, the Sport Chrono Package Plus, the Park Assist System, the Bose High-End Sound Package, and additional leather appointments. Showing approximately 68k miles on the odometer, this example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Vermont.
A sliding glass roof system, including an opening rear hatch and a chrome accent stripe along the roofline, distinguishes the 997 Targa models. This 4S is finished in Meteor Grey Metallic and features optional dynamic cornering headlights and 19” Turbo wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires from 2020-2022. The seller notes a small paint imperfection on the hood beneath the paint protection film. Additionally, the CARFAX report notes minor damage in 2014, which is said to have occurred under the previous ownership while the car was parked. As a result, the bumper area is said to have been expertly repaired. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Inside, the driver is greeted with a two-tone Black and Terracotta upholstery. Optional details include the sun visors, rear center console, and steering column in leather, along with a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel in smooth leather and the gear selector and handbrake lever in aluminum. Selected amenities consist of heated and ventilated Power Comfort Seats with driver memory functions, a heated steering wheel, self-dimming mirrors, the Park Assist System, the Sport Chrono Package Plus, Bose High-End Sound Package, XM Radio, universal audio interface, Bluetooth phone interface, and a navigation module for PCM. The seller adds that a stereo upgrade was professionally integrated behind the rear seats under previous ownership. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order.
A naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine produces up to 385 HP and 310 lb.-ft of torque stock, driving all four wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. The integrated Sport Chrono Package Plus allows the Targa 4S to accelerate from 0-60 MPH in as little as 4.5 seconds. A limited-slip rear differential lock was also opted for. Since the seller’s acquisition approximately five years ago, annual Motul 8100 X-Cess oil and filter changes and annual Vermont safety inspections are said to have been performed.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This is by far the best Porsche I’ve ever owned. (I previously owned two 911s and a 930.) When my wife saw the Terra cotta interior against the beautiful gray exterior, I didn’t have to convince her that I had to have the car. The car is so solid and runs and drives beautifully (literally like it’s on rails). It is so adaptable that it can be a grocery getter or provide some spirited driving enjoyment.”

@eomichael Not everyone liked that particular roof arraignment, but I loved putting my golf clubs in the back.
Sold for $60,997
Okay, what happens next?
Congrats!! Owned a similar spec a few years ago. Absolutely great cars plus the Targa is very lovely.
Congratulations Wtsawyer! That's a beauty, cant wait to see it!
Thank you!
This is exactly the very same car I had the factory build for me in 2009, and mistakenly sold in 2016. Been trying to find the exact same Targe for 8 years now!

Thanks it’s a great feature
@Jcfernan1 Please disregard - it was a factory installed XM radio option. All the 997.2's I have previously looked at weren't spec'd with it. GLWA
Hi, what is the anntena / small black box on the center front roof (photo 12/52)? It appears aftermarket / not a design feature on the roofline of a 997.2. Thanks

Pls ignore - just saw the 2 videos !!
How is the condition of the paint - dings, dents, scratches ? Curb rash on wheels ?
Doesn’t appear we’re getting videos so would appreciate confirmation on these issues.from @Seller.
Thx

@sleepili Roof, screen and glass hatch work perfectly and no leaks.
Thanks
@TomSesto 🙂no doubt- roof , screen and back glass work perfectly with no leaks.
Bid in the amount of $27,500
Would it be possible to get a cold start or driving video so I can hear the engine running?
Would it be possible to get a video of the glass roof opening so I can see it function?
Do you have a closeup picture of the paint imperfection? From the pictures it's hard to distinguish from reflections.
Do the rims have any curb damage?
How much tread is left on the tires?
But they would in Los Angeles.
They both work perfectly. They get little use here in Vermont
Hi there, does the targa and sunshade mechanisms work well? Any squeaks? Does the rear hatch work? Any moisture or leakage around the rear hatch? Thank you!

@Bortide - thx for prompt response.
Photos of the underside would be v helpful.
I may be in Middlebury this weekend - if so, I’ll try to let you know in order to hopefully meet up.
Thx for your service.

Since you’re in Maine you’re certainly welcome to drive over. I can take the TR4 off the lift and put the 911 on. You can give it a look and drive .
@Wtsawyer If you wish you could contact Jason Eastman who runs Bullfrog Auto in Williston. He is the resident Porsche specialist. I’ve purchased tire and alignment etc from him.
@Bortide Thanks for the note.
I appreciate some states won't share Plate Holder information, and know that Maine will not.
Thank you for your service!
Note: I traded a prior 997.2 in for a 2016 Boxster GTS, and knew immediately that I'd made a mistake! Been trying to replicate my Targa ever since, and way too many are Black/Black or some other obnoxious color scheme.
While this IS a popular model, I'm finding a great many don't care for the "fancy" Targa mechanism...
While I ordered mine from the factory nearly identical to yours, I noted that a surprising number didn't care for the steering wheel shifters, preferring the newer "paddles" behind the wheel. As a PCA Instructor, I liked to be able to "shift" with either hand with the layout the same as yours.
I'm VERY interested, yet also want to be perfectly certain of her mechanical and rust situation (I'm from Maine), so will require a PPI prior to closing...
Can we make that happen at some point in time?
Let's keep in touch!
Tom
@DHiggins When I purchased the car I questioned the 60K check. Since the check was performed at 44k by the previous owner the clock was reset and now due at 104K.
I’ve only driven the car a few hundred miles this year and I have couple other old British toys so I thought 5 years was a good run on this car. As the 997.2 is quite desirable this seems a good time to let someone else enjoy a beautiful machine.
Thanks
@Bodtide
Beautiful color combination and options! May I ask why you are selling?
Following up on @Ram3k’s Service question, I think she would be due for a comprehensive 60,000 miles service. am I mistaken about that?
@Ram3k The 6 year service PDK and belt change is verified in Herb Chambers database-IRA Porsche 1671 @44,005 miles.
No knoledge on other mishaps.
I can put on lift for underside. Car is solid-I appreciate the Vt thought as I’ve grown up and lived here🙂
@Wtsawyer Yes, V765D is my Vermont veteran registration.
Thanks
I searched for your VT plates, and nothing came up, while your VIN. Is that your current VT license plate?
Thanks.
Also, will you be posting underside photos ? Having lived in VT for 3 years I’m curious about the condition of the underside.
Many thx
@Seller - nice Targa. Few questions:
1) Carfax shows 2 accidents - do you have any info re the 1st accident ?
2) was the complete 60k mileage recommended service done ?
3) did you purchase from a dealer and if so was it CPO ?
4) did you have a PPI completed ?
Many thx and GLWTS
