The updated Porsche 987.2 generation Boxster debuted with a larger new engine with direct fuel injection and the option of a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. This 2009 Porsche Boxster is finished in Ruby Red Metallic over Black upholstery and features painted side air intakes, bi-xenon headlights with Dynamic Cornering, 18” Cayman S II wheels, a 7-speed PDK transmission, Sport Seats, the Bose High-End Sound Package, and more. Acquired by the seller in July 2011 from Porsche Centre Saskatchewan, this one-owner example is now available for auction out of Canada with less than 93k kilometers (~58k miles) on the odometer.
As part of the mid-cycle update, the 987.2 received new headlights and LED taillights, enlarged front air intakes with integrated daytime running lights, and a revised lower rear fascia with twin diffusers. Finished in Ruby Red Metallic with a black soft top, this Boxster features optional bi-xenon headlights with Dynamic Cornering and body-color painted side air intakes. The optional 18” Cayman S II wheels are mounted with older Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Paint protection film has been applied ahead of the rear wheels, and the seller notes slight signs of road wear on the hood, a small dent on the passenger door, and minor rust spotting near the rear fender wells. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin presents Black leather-upholstered Sport Seats, a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel with PDK shift buttons, and interior-colored floor mats. Additional options include exclusive Porsche-crested headrests, a Porsche wind deflector, the Bose High-End Sound Package, a Bluetooth interface for a mobile phone, a Universal Audio Interface, and self-dimming mirrors with a rain sensor. The seller notes minor scuffs on the doorsills and confirms all gauges and electronics are working properly.
Power is derived from a mid-mounted 2.9-liter flat-six engine, delivering a factory-rated 255 HP and 214 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 7-speed PDK transmission. The seller adds that the coolant lines were replaced in 2020, and the brakes and rotors were replaced in 2022. Transmission fluid flushes were also performed at an authorized Porsche dealer in 2023. Additionally, oil changes and air filter replacements are said to have been completed annually, along with brake fluid flushes every 2-3 years.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned this car for over 13 years and loved every moment with it. It has always been stored in a garage. All maintenance is up-to-date, and the car is completely stock. It has been a fantastic, reliable daily driver and has never failed to excite or turn heads wherever it goes.”

@freakers For the sake of transparency I have uploaded the handwritten trade-in offer I received from Porsche, note all values are in Canadian dollars. This should give everyone a general idea of repairs/work that may need to be done.
Also note that the major service recommended is not entirely necessary, the major components of the major service, spark plugs, v-belt, brakes, rotors, oil change and engine filter were completed in 2022-2023, but was not done at the Porsche Dealership.

@remoorejr I agree on the DFI, the description was written by the editors of PCAR and I am unable to edit it. Thanks for providing your information.
FYI, the base 987.2 Boxster does not use direct fuel injection. Port fuel injection is used. Port fuel injection was only used on the base models. It is considered a bulletproof engine as long as you take care of it (oil changes, air filter, etc) No bore scoring issues ever recorded on ANY base Boxster 987.2 according to my research. I have a 2011 base Boxster with the Sport Chrono package which adds sport and sport plus mode. Very hard to find that combo.
@az911 For what it's worth, when I was offered trade in value for it by my local Dealer they estimated $4500 Canadian (~$3200 USD) to repair the rust and other body damage to bring up to "Porsche resale standards". I have not quoted or attempt to repair any of the damage myself.
@az911 Hi, there is small amounts of rust on the fenders directly behind both front wheels, and on the fenders above both rear wheels. There is some peeling of paint on some of the bars visible in the underbody, that have minor surface rust. The car was driven year round for 13 years and was cleaned regularly in the winter. The area I live does apply some road salt, but primarily uses sand and gravel which is what I believe caused the majority of the rust spotting. Gravel being flung from the tires and impacting the fenders. Unfortunately Porsche did not use any fender liners in the generation and I did not PPF the fenders.
@Backmarker A few of the service sheets are for routine maintenance, both major and minor. One is for replacing a battery, one to replace coolant lines. One for PDK and final drive fluid flushes. A few are for spring maintenance checks, Tire swaps. There was a PDK software update that was done in ~2016-2017. Unfortunately I am at work and am unable to take any more detailed pictures of the service docs in short notice.
Good morning. Zooming in on the pictures, is the rust and corrosion affecting all four wheel wells and surrounding arches, or just above the right rear wheel? Does the undercarriage have similar corrosion throughout? (Possible to post more pics?) Was this car driven through the winter salt months and just never cleaned? I'm not sure I've ever seen this type of corrosion on a Porsche before and am unclear as to the extent of it.
Looking for a project to complete with my son but would like to know what I'm in for ahead of time. Thanks
Would you describe or post re what was requested to be done and what was done as reflected on each of the service receipts? Or is that shown somewhere and I missed it?
@Ashleyhaskell Hi, I answered this in a previous comment.
Has IMS bearing been replaced?
Bid in the amount of $5,000
@Ashleyhaskell You can also read through this if you want more information on the IMS issue, which doesn't apply here, but interesting nonetheless.

@Ashleyhaskell IMS bearing is not an issue on the 987.2 generation cars. The MA1 engine in this generation of cars is an extremely reliable flat 6, especially so in the 2.9L format.

I am copying the below comment from another PCARmarket sale from a Canadian Porsche seller.
Car is easy to export to the USA (if that’s where it should go)
– you’ll pay no tax in Canada
– you’ll pay 2.85%~ duty on the value of the car to import it
– easiest if you use a registered importer — cost will be $500~ + cost of shipping to your destination.
– you’ll pay the usual State tax in your State when you register/title the car, like any other used car purchase in your State.
@Backmarker I called Porsche Cars Canada and I was told the the car is compliant with US regulations and can be registered there. I was also informed that a Letter of Compliance is not required to sell the car cross border, but a licensed importer/exporter company may be required to transport the car cross border. Hopefully that helps and answers your question.
@Backmarker Hi, as far as I know it is US compliant, I have reached out to my local dealer to see if they can verify on short notice. Looking at the sticker on the engine bay cover it says that emissions conforms to US EPA and California emissions standards. Some quick searches online are saying that a Letter of Compliance from PCNA is required to import the car from Canada into the US. Maybe the staff at Pcarmarket can verify.
From the build sheet or options list can you tell if this Canadian delivered 987.2 is US compliant?

@groach Thanks. It is showing Automatic now. Also note that mileage shown in the vehicle details section is in kilometers, it currently has ~58k miles.
Beautiful color!
“Vehicle Details” lists Manual transmission. Needs correcting.
