The second-generation Porsche 997 introduced direct fuel injection flat-six engines and, for the first time, a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. This inaugural-year 997.2 Carrera Coupe is finished in Carrara White with Stone Grey upholstery and features heated front seats, power Comfort Seats, the Bose High-End Sound Package, and more. Modified with Fuchs wheels, a Fabspeed X-pipe, Eibach lowering springs, a SportDesign paddle-shift steering wheel, and Sport/Sport+ ECU modes, this 911 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Ohio with under 71k miles showing on the odometer.
This example is finished in Carrara White and features aftermarket 18” Otto Fuchs forged aluminum retro-style wheels with ECS Tuning wheel spacers (5mm front, 18mm rear) and a 22mm lowered ride height via Eibach Sport springs. Additionally, Carrera S exhaust tips have been fitted. A full Ceramic-Pro coating has been applied to the body and wheels. Notably, this car earned the First in Class (all Porsche) Award of Excellence at the 40th Annual Arthritis Foundation Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In in Dublin, Ohio, held from July 20-22, 2023. Three minor imperfections are noted, including a small wrinkle dent on the lower left edge of the urethane front fascia, six small stone chips on the front fascia and hood filled with OEM touch-up paint, and a 1mm door ding near the right-hand door handle, easily accessible for paintless dent removal. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin features Stone Grey standard leather upholstery with matching floor mats. Optional equipment includes heated, power-adjustable Comfort Seats with driver memory functions, self-dimming mirrors, and the Bose High-End Sound Package. The leather surfaces have been periodically maintained with Lexol conditioner. A three-spoke SportDesign steering wheel in Alcantara has been installed and the original heated steering wheel is included in the sale. The seller notes that the left armrest lid is slightly discolored, and there is a minor peeling area of the surface coating on the passenger’s side of the center console. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be functioning correctly, with two exceptions: the sunroof works in all modes—open, close, and tilt—but requires pressing the "close" button when the roof is already closed to activate the control logic. Although the switch has been replaced, the Porsche dealer has not provided a solution. Additionally, when the transmission is shifted to reverse and the mirror selector is set to right, the mirror tilts down but does not automatically return to position when shifted back into drive.
A naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 345 HP and 287 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a 7-speed PDK transmission. Modifications include a Fabspeed X-pipe replacing the center muffler ($1,050) and an upgraded aftermarket aluminum PDK oil pan with a serviceable filter and gasket, replacing the original plastic OEM version. The vehicle also features Sport/Sport+ ECU software installed by a Porsche dealer ($1,163). The seller notes a slight PDK oil leak at the integrated oil cooler lines, which was repaired at 70,562 miles alongside the oil pan and filter replacement ($2,111). The PDK service was completed at 52,275 miles and again at 70,562 miles, with the accessory drive belt changed at 50,031 miles. All scheduled maintenance has been performed, and service records from 7,550 miles onward are included. The seller adds that the annual oil lab analysis suggests no bore scoring issues.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, an air pump, and invocies as well as the original muffler, springs, and steering wheel.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for viewing or participating in this auction. I am a 35-year Porsche Club of America member and a true "Porschephile" having owned three: 1983 944; 1983 911 SC; and THIS 911 (997.2)--The Last Analog 911! It was purchased from a Porsche dealer as a CPO car in 2013 with only 7,500 miles on it. Although I was a "track junky" at Watkins Glen and Mid-Ohio with the first two P-cars, this 997 has NEVER been on the track. This 997 has 71,000 pampered miles (mostly local) and for eleven years has been meticulously cared for both mechanically and in appearance. It is a concours winner and is well known and admired by Mid-Ohio PCA members. It has been mildly modified with thoughtful improvements: Paddle Shifter; Sport/Sport + ECU modes; Fuchs Wheels; FabSpeed "X" pipe; and Eibach lowering springs. It has a firm street ride (not jarring) and great handling. The original muffler, springs, and all maintenance and mod records are included.”

Congratulations rtugberk, new owner of my awesome 911. You will be very pleased with this car--one in a million (well, maybe 10,000). Frankly, I am sad to see it go. I had to sell because of my physical limitations. I'm sure we will be in touch shortly.

@willc391 Part of the fun or anxiety I guess...
@willc391 Nothing matters until the last minute with these auctions =)
Bidders: I've been offered much more from a dealer for Trade-In value on this exceptional Carrera. Closing in 45 minutes!
Dubla, dubla, dubla, we have 37,750; dooby, dooby, dooby, can I see 39,000? Not near the reserve yet! 39? Come on folks. Less than an hour left on this beautiful Nine Eleven.
The original springs (take offs) are included with the sale. They can be swapped out with the Eibach springs if you want a softer ride and higher ride height. It's an easy DIY if your mechanically experienced.
No. The leak has been fixed and the dealer installed plastic oil pan and filter have been replaced with an aftermarket aluminum pan with a serviceable filter and gasket (at a cost of $2,111). This means much cheaper PDK service in the future. Porsche requires replacement of the plastic pan/filter at each service at a cost of over $400. Porsche prohibits their dealers from fixing PDK oil leaks, their recommendation is to replace the transmission (about $20k)!
Are you able adjust the springs back to stock height? I have some speed bumps near me =(

Hello, any leaks after the most recent PDK repair from a month ago?
Three years ago I switched from Mobil1 to quite expensive ($18/qt) Driven Racing Oil DI40 Synthetic specifically developed for DFI engines and with a high Moly content for reduced wear and carbon build-up. I also add injector & fuel system cleaner with gas fill-ups.
There is some soot deposited in the tail pipes, but all DFI engines produce some soot, especially at start-up.
No. If I had any indication from the oil analysis of higher than normal ppm of aluminum or excessive wear I would do a bore scope. The oil analysis reports are strongly negative (meaning no indication of scoring) and will be included with the sale.
Has it ever been bore scoped?
@willc391 9A1 Engine.
Bid in the amount of $37,750
Remember the 997.2 has the MA1 engine which has Direct Injection, and does not have an IMS bearing. So no worry about expensive IMS bearing replacement. And, THIS car has had annual professional laboratory oil analysis by SpeedDiagnostix which indicate no excessive wear or bore scoring issues.
The wheels were purchased 4 years ago. Today's price would be $5,700 plus tax and tire mounting. Just to keep bidders informed, I repeat: the original center MUFFLER (take off) will NOT be included in this sale. It has gone missing.
@willc391 Wow! Now that is a detailed service record! Lots of money spent, especially on the wheels!
Bid in the amount of $37,500
Thanks that is very helpful.
The maintenance log covers 11 years and has 60 line items. It includes everything except a couple of early oil changes which did not get recorded.
I added a photo of the Maintenance Log as the last photo in the gallery. To read it you will have to download the image and rotate and enlarge it in your photo app.

All the service records will come with the car. Too many to post. I have a summary but can't figure out how to post a document here. I guess I'll take a photo and put it in the photo gallery. In the meantime do you (G964) have any specific questions?
Beautiful 997. Do you have the service records? If so can you post them, or provide a summary? The Carfax maintenance entries are a bit lacking.
I've seen in the flesh... and this car is a beauty. The 18" Fuchs are just so perfect on the 997. Next owner should be very happy.
Apparently the Carrera wiring harness did not accommodate the Sport Design wheel so it’s not heated and you lose the “Sport”, “Sport+”, and “Launch Control” annunciator lights in the spokes. But having the paddles is worth the loss.
Is the alcantara steering wheel heated? Or only the original leather one?
Although this 911 was a “daily driver” it was driven less than 6,000 miles per year. All 71,000 miles originated in Ohio and the car was always garaged. Wet weather was avoided when possible. In the winter it was only driven on dry, sunny days and never in slushy/salty conditions.
Thanks for the bid! I want to inform ALL BIDDERS that the ORIGINAL MUFFLER (take off) will NOT be included with the sale. I recently checked my storage area an could not find the muffler. I doubt that the new owner will want to return to the original exhaust.

Tires are Continental Extreme Contact DWS 6+; Front 235/40R18; Rear 275/40R18 with ECS Spacers: 5mm Front; 18mm Rears. I selected the 18" wheels and tall profile tire to get the "retro" fat tire look. I added another view of the G-body photo.

@willc391 I have to say your wheel, tire and stance set up is the best I’ve ever seen on a 997. I can’t quite make out the tire size and was wondering if you could share it. The picture of your car behind the G-body is an excellent view.
Jeff Zwart, race driver and photographer was at our local dealer this evening for a presentation of his life's work. I took this photo of my 2009 997 Carrera next to an 1983 911 SC--Carrera White with black Fuchs. Twins from different eras.

With the addition of the "Sport / Sport+" ECU software this care does have "Launch Control". A base Carrera does not have this option.
Thanks for the bid! It looks like there are some serious buyers looking. It’s amazing what the genuine Fuchs forged wheels do for both the “retro” look AND performance. Weighing only about 18 pounds each they greatly improve turn-in responsiveness. The car has over $9,000 in quality improvements. It’s pretty close to an “S” for less $. It is exceptional and deserves a small market premium over a base Carrera. If the reserve is not met, it will not be sold here.
Bid in the amount of $32,500
The 997.2 is the PERFECT entry level 911. The air-cooled and newer ones are all well into the six figures. Crazy prices. This car is the best looking early water-cooled, it’s still a “smaller”, toss-able car, with some modern conveniences (like electric seats, and cruise control) -- and affordable. The 991 and newer cars, while having stellar performance, have become more like a big GT car for the wealthy. My lifetime Porsche axiom has been: “never buy a new one”! There are always well cared-for used ones out there (usually owned by long-term PCA members). This is that car!
I have driven this car and it’s very solid. I love the Fuchs wheels, too. The car looks spectacular in person. The pictures don’t do it justice. Such a classic look. I’m currently not in the market, but I am thinking of putting a bid on it because it’s that good. These examples from meticulous owners are pretty rare find. It’ll be worth every penny to the next owner.
Bid in the amount of $22,000
I was a die-hard manual transmission guy until I lived with this PDK. It's awesome--ALWAYS in the correct gear! And, it you want to shift manually to redline in each gear just press the Sport+ button. (If the grandkid wants to drive just keep it in "Normal")

Welcome! As the current owner of this exceptional 997.2 coupe it is time to pass it on. The car is stunning in person and in top condition inside and out. I will answer any questions you have. If you are a serious bidder stay in touch because it should sell fast.
